A friend referred Steve, & we are very grateful as he was local roofer, friendly, professional & helped work with insurance company. The guys worked hard & had new roof on in no time. They replaced, intact, our lightning globe on our 2-1/2 story Victorian. Most impressive was their prep & cleanup. They put down the usual tarps; afterward they cleaned, swept our patio, etc and left it looking better!!! Have already referred to friends.

Steve was easy to work with. His quote was reasonable and he was able to complete the work shortly after the quote. His team was extremely hard working; they removed the old shingles and felt and totally replaced the roof within one day. They thoroughly cleaned up after themselves.

Steve was absolutely awesome. I called Steve when we noticed we have roofing issues. He was straightforward and knowledgeable, was patient while explaining terms I did not understand. Very well. Steve was punctual, professional and fair. The workmanship was very good. He had to re-sheet half the house and half the garage. Their cleanup was exceptional.

The estimate was accurate to the claim we received from our insurance company. The work was done in a timely manner, and we found little to no nails in our yard afterwards. I called Steve on a Friday afternoon and he came out Saturday morning to look at it. He came out when he said he would, he was professional, provided us with pictures of the problem, and told us honestly that the problem was a plumbing problem rather than a roofing problem. I appreciate his honesty and that he didn't try to charge us for unnecessary repairs.

We called Steve on Thursday, he came out and diagnosed the problem on Friday and fixed it on Saturday. It just rained three inches here and our roof was dry!

They did a great job in only 2 days. They found and repaired problems that previous roofers created or missed. With my new SBS class 4 impact Malarkey shingles, I feel I have a excellent long lasting roof.

They did an EXCELLENT job. I never found even one nail in the yard. They did an excellent job cleaning up after themselves. The workers were all very polite and conscientious. I know we could have had it done for less money but we went that route the last time and I picked up shingles every time the wind blew.

During the winter, I received a letter from my insurance agent that they could not re-insure my house on the next anniversary because of deteriorating shingles. After searching the web for quality a roofer and shingles (Malarkey), I called Steve’s Roofing for an estimate. Steve responded the next day saying that he had inspected the roof and that the insurance company’s assessment was correct. Steve, who is very personable, presented an estimate, which I accepted, and said that he would be on the house as soon as weather permitted. He appeared at the first break in the weather and said that an ‘A’ team would be working the next day. The crew appeared, worked steadily and efficiently each day until the job was completed. We were very comfortable with their demeanor. When completed, they carefully cleaned the yard of the inevitable debris and departed. Steve frequently inspected and the bill proved to be spot on. He also offered to write the insurance company if the receipt did not satisfy them. The project was a good experience and I whole heartily recommend Steve’s roofing.

I noticed a missing shingle on the ridge of my roof on a Friday. I called one company who promised to be out the next day, Saturday, but never showed up (he finally called .Monday and offered to come out, but by that point, I'd moved on). On Monday I called Steve's roofing. He answered the phone quickly and took all my information right away. He said he'd be out Tuesday. He was unable to unable to make it that day, but he did call me (big pluses for that), to let me know, and said he'd be out Wednesday morning. He arrive Wednesday morning and quickly did the work, using some shingles I had left over from having the roof redone in 2001. He also confirmed that I didn't have any water in my attic from the missing shingle.

Steve was the only one who responded to my request for a quote. He was very professional and answered all our questions. His work crew showed up on time, did a great job, and cleaned up area before leaving; all in one day! Steve showed up during and after work was done to make sure everything went well, which I appreciated. I definitely would recommend Steve's Roofing!

Steve's roofing was fantastic. There are plenty of fly by night roofers out there that will undercut his prices, but his attention to detail, the quality of his crew, and the end result is well worth the extra coins. Our roof was made of shake and built improperly by Hamm construction in 1994. With over 52 segments and ~6000sqft, in three days the guys replaced 17 4x8 sheets of roofing and sealed the entire roof. Not only did they put on a great product, they prevented more problems to come that I'd never have spotted. Can't say it enough, they did an spectacular job. If you're looking to "just do it once" Steve's is the place to go, hands down. (we interviewed four roofing candidates before selecting his company)

IBack in Spring of 2013, I had to move to Iowa City for my company. Following the purchase of a house, I was required by my selected home insurance company to replace my roof. Through recommendation by my realtor at the time, I had estimates from a few contractors. While Steve's Roofing was one of the higher bids, their list of tasks and warranty on their work was most promising. Steve personally met with me at my residence on time to go over the scope of work and to go over a selection of materials that I could choose from in terms of asphalt shingles and roof membranes. He was very descriptive and straightforward in describing pros and cons of all options for work and materials. We made arrangements for work to proceed. He had a list of projects to complete prior to working on my roof but kept me up-to-date on his scheduling. Once my house was next on the list, his team was there early in the morning (7 AM), setting up for the task at hand and already setting ladders up. By the time I left for work a half an hour later, the crew was going at full speed stripping away the old roof. By 4 PM that afternoon, I received a call from Steve with notice that the work was done. I came home an hour later and Steve came by to make sure the yard was free from as much debris as they could remove (which was adequately performed) and to show me photos as proof of roof sheathing they had to replace. The level of professionalism, neatness, and quality was worth it. Remember! Lowest bid is not always the best!

Steve came to my house in the summer and gave me details of his shingles which are made in Portland, OR. He convinced me to add a waterproof sheeting and helped me choose a color which fitted my house. I asked him to wait until fall and he got in touch with me at our arranged time. His crew came on a Saturday because they knew rain was forecast for the following week and wanted to make sure they finished. His crew was a dream team, the nicest, most polite group of fellows I have ever had as installers. They picked up everything when they were finished though very little was on the ground. I had some oak tree branches hanging over my roof from the neighbors tree. They knew there had been a raccoon problem and asked if I wanted them to cut down those branches. Steve is now doing the roofs of two of my friends. I couldn't be happier.

I had used Steves Roofing to re-roof my parents house in October of 2011. I then told Steve that I would like to replace the water heater that was using the 50 year old rusty flue pipe with a power vent unit vented out the side of the house. He told me that when I get it replaced and abandon the flue, that he would come back to patch the roof. Well one year and two months later(Dec 13) I called Steve, he remembered the job and said he could come on Monday Dec 17th and patch the roof. I called him again for an ETA on Sunday Dec 16th, he said about 11 am Monday. He arrived just a few minutes after 11 and we looked at the extent of the job, removed the entire flue pipe, he loaded it in his truck to scrap it, he patched the roof with shingles left over from the original job, and was ready to leave before noon. My mom twisted his arm to send the bill, he replied Merry Christmas. Great Guy Steve.

We asked Steve to come out and give us an estimate for a new roof based in part on reviews on Angie's list. He came out when he said he would, walked my husband around the house pointing out what he would do, and promptly gave us a written estimate with 2 options for shingles. He and the crew showed up exactly when they said they would. I came home and one of the crew members let me know right away that they had discovered some extra damage and described in detail what extra materials and time were needed to fix it correctly. Steve then showed up and also explained it to us, and made sure we understood what was going on and that they'd need to finish up the next day. And like he said, the job was finished the next day. I found a few staples, a bucket and a stapler, but otherwise they did a great job cleaning up around the house. Steve then called and wanted to come over to discuss in person why the final bill was more than the estimate - this was because of the unexpected damage that they had found. Even though we hadn't discussed it before, Steve was happy to give us the Angie's List discount. Overall, we had a great experience and would certainly recommend Steve's Roofing to other customers.

Job has not been finished due to the raccon situation.

We had an issue with our roof and Steve's Roofing came out and did nothing. The way the house was built it has a ridge so it's open on both sides and our house is on the corner and there's nothing behind our house at all, so when the wind blows it creeps in and over the roof and they're like, "Well there's nothing to do," and then they left. I was like, "Okay." I'm not happy with their service. It was the president and the vice president of the company. They didn't have any advice for us at all so my husband is going to block like one side of the vent before the snow falls to see if that would help. If I have to redo my roof I would not go through them.

I was not on site, but the occupants were content with the work done. I can't provide a narrative of the job, but I suppose List members still appreciate a report of "no problems" despite the lack of detail.

Steve responded to my call very quickly. He explained the job in great detail and completed the work promptly. I would definitely use him again!
