I wrote a letter to this other company, what was then _Ford-Lincoln-Mercury. That company has been bought out by another one. I had to take it to them because I had got this part, a used front differential for my '95 Ford Explorer. I got that at a dealership, Charles Gabus Ford in Des Moine in mid-December. They told me when I got that, when you get back to Iowa City you should have your local dealer check it. So that guy checked it and there was still this weird sound coming from the transmission, so they said to me, oh the front differential that was put in by this dealership in Des Moine was no good. So they took it out and luckily, for some reason, I asked to have the part after they took it out and replaced it and charged me again for another used differential. There was still oil dripping and the noise I think was still there. At that point, I knew to go to Fountain Transmission because I've already dealt with him years before and everybody said he was the guy. I went to him and he told me right away that there was a problem with the one that the local dealership had put in. He looked at the differential that they had taken out and they had said was no good and he said it's absolutely fine. I wrote a letter to the local company and said this is the case and all of these repairs cost me an additional $600 and something dollars and he sent me a check back no questions asked. I know why he did that, it was because I said, I took my vehicle to Fountain Transmission and I took this differential that you took out and Fountain Transmission says that differential was fine and that wasn't the problem. And Boom, there was no questions asked and I got a check in the mail and I know that was because of Fountain Transmissions name.
He didn't charge me anything, he looked at that differential and told me it was just fine, never charged me a cent and that's typical of him. He charges very fairly, very modestly I think by comparison to other places, and the work he does is impeccable.
