DALTON TREE SVC

Removed large elm and ash tree in very difficult locations. Trees were positioned next to a fence and a large swing set. Dalton's climber was a master at cutting down the 60 ft + , 2.5ft diameter tree without damage to surrounding structures. Trees were not accessible by any heavy equipment, just ropes. He is the only one in this area I trust to do such a precision job. Excellent job

Excellent job . Tried to contact for another tree to remove and did not respond. Left over three messages .... No call back... no response????? Phone goes to immediate busy! He went from high regard to typical Iowa City contractor . I guess not interested in new business.

I had a dead tree that needed to come down in my backyard. I called a number of businesses for quotes and Dalton Tree Service (Iowa City) had the best price. He came to look at it in April 2015. We talked about a complicating factor of needing a number of dry days in a row to avoid tearing up the yard between my house and the neighbor's when taking the branches to the front where his chipper would be. After getting the quote from Dan, several weeks went by as I sought other quotes. I called him maybe 5 weeks later to let him know I wanted him to do the job. I left him at least a couple messages when it looked like there would be dry weather to see if we could schedule a day to remove the tree, but I never heard back from him. I eventually decided that I'd wait and contact him again during a time when he was more likely to need the work. When I left a message March 7 2016, he got back to me three days later to say he could do it the next week. That worked out and he and his team arrived exactly as planned and finished the job within the two hours he predicted it would take. I was able to watch while they did some of the work and he has a true talent for climbing, finding a good foot hold, roping branchs and safely bringing them down. He and his crew did an excellent job at cleaning up all the fallen twigs. They didn't cause any damage to the lawn while transporting the limbs and trunk sections up a slanted hill to the chipper. They ground the stump for me and also did an older stump I requested be ground too. They did a great job and at a good price. It was only his responsiveness that I had to give a lower grade. I will try him again if I need another tree removed.

Dan gave recommendations for trimming the two trees and a very reasonable estimate. He recommended trimming the Ash and the Pin Oak at two different times because the best time to prune one isn't the time to do the other. Since we agreed to do both trees, he priced it as if it were one job that would be executed in two stages. He did a wonderful job, the trees look better than they ever have and are very healthy. He cleaned up the debris from the trimming and even checked back a month later (both times) to be sure we were happy with the results.

I had a tree in the backyard that a storm split down the middle, leaving a major branch leaning on the roof of my house. I called around for quotes and when companies could come by and remove the tree since it was an emergency. Dan offered the best price and was able to remove the tree a few days later. But more than that, he was very accommodating about the payment, as I was waiting to get money from the insurance company so I could pay him. Dan was patient, professional while personable, and did a nice job.

Dalton was extremely professional. They cleaned all fallen branches and leaves.
