My side-by-side refrigerator stopped cooling. Even though I didn't buy this one from Slager's (all my other appliances have come from them -- and I will always buy from them in the future!), they were willing to come check it out. The repairman was thorough and was able to get everything back in working order for a whole lot less than a new one!! No question that I prefer to deal with Slager's for appliances -- buying and repairing -- always!

I've never ever had a positive experience with them. Before they would even send out a serviceman to look at it, they wanted a deposit over the phone for the service call. I could understand it because they have been having problems with dishwashers because they changed soap formulations. The person I dealt with on the phone to make the appointment was fine but I didn't like the person who came out to do the work. They were rude and they acted very condescending. He told me there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher and that it looked like the water softener system was down. I asked if he could recommend somebody for that and he did. I also had one little problem with the dishwasher that I told him not to repair because it was going to cost about $200 and he said that I should live with it. Every time I deal with them I am upset afterwards because I don't like the way they do business. I spent $85 and it was strictly a diagnostic fee. I hate dealing with them. I cringe every time I have something that should be taken care of by them. I wish I could find somebody else because I hate them. He did call and follow up on something. I won’t use them again if I don’t have to. It was indeed my water softener that was the problem and I had to deal with somebody else for that work.

Member, sorry for the bad experience with our service tech on your dishwasher. That tech as been with us for over 40 years, and I will discuss his attitude that you had to deal with. As for your d/w situation, Coralville water table is excess of 20 grain hardness, along with new law that removed phosphates from soaps, cleaning issues with film has become a new d/w issue (every brand/model both new and old) He noted that your d/w is limed up, which is reason the inquiry he stated that your softner may have not been working. As you stated, the $85 cost you paid seems expensive for the diagnostic, if I could be less I would. In reading the invoice, the tech labor was $20 and the rest is the service call. The service call rate covers all the cost of the truck, taxes, liabilites, insurances to get a tech's to a home. That cost is a one time only charge. If you decide to replace the $94.55 keypanel plus the related labor code there is no second charge for the service call. It appears that this control panel works on some cycles, but not others and the "live with it" statement must have been said, but in very poor choice of words and tone. Again, sorry for that. Should you ever decide to call us for future repairs, I will just make sure that tech is not assigned and will use another tech. (I have 6 tech's including service manager) Or future service from others, GE factory service 1-800-432-2737 or another company to consider called A&E Appliance Repair 1-800-862-9226 We have been doing this for 63 years, and yes, mistakes happen with goals to correct and improve.
