Got a ballpark price from Joe the owner - about $400 for parts and labor - about what I expected. Joe (owner) continued to call me for several days asking to install the gas line, trying to close the deal. Federal tax refund check arrived, gas appliances bought, ready for install. Called Joe 10 days in advance and was told no problem, be there on the scheduled day first thing in the morning. Called Joe the day before and was told no problem, will be on site first thing in the morning. 9am comes and no Joe. Called him and he said that he was looking over his calendar. Asked what I what I needed to have done and when did it need to be done. I reminded him of our prior conversations, and he said that someone would be on site in that morning. All before noon, the gas appliances arrived and were installed - except for connection to the non-existent gas line. So I waited at home for the gas install to happen. No call, no show until 2:00pm (ish) when Little Joe (not the owner) called. He came over to the house and I showed him what needed to be done. He said it was about a 3 hour job, didn't have the parts on the truck or at the shop, more configuration than he was led to believe, would have to install flex line instead which is more expensive. He took some pics and left for the shop to see what could be done. Again no call, now show for an hour. An hour later, Little Joe showed up and did the job in 2 hours. A leak developed with a gas line riser. Joe tightened the heck out of the connection and said it was fine. I was billed $641.83 which included a one hour round trip to the shop (1/4 mile up the hill from my house). After a couple days, gas could be smelled in the closed laundry room . I closed the gas cut off the valve to ensure it wasn't the gas dryer and vented the room. I waited a couple days, could still smell the gas, and called Quality. Joe said someone will be there first thing in the morning. 3:30pm Little Joe shows up again. He doesn't want to replace any parts, but instead takes everything apart and uses pipe tape which he explained was not supposed to be used on gas connections. He tested the connection with an electronic leak detector and the leak was gone. He was there an hour and noticed the new furnace and air conditioner system purchased from a competitor. He made several snide comments as he stated he was the former training manager, and told me how they gouged customers. I was in the market for a new furnace and air conditioner system, and Quality was at the top of the list because of the close proximity to my home. After the two incidents with Quality, I went with another company for the new system. Quality P,H,A/C provided the solid evidence that I made the right decision to go with another vendor.
Description of Work: Switching appliances from electric to natural gas. Existing gas line installed for heating, water heater, fireplace. Requested to add two connections: gas dryer, gas cooking range.

It took several phone calls but Joe (owner) was rather prompt, worked around my schedule, and was tenacious about working on the unit. However, there was a lot of push to replace the furnace unit for $3 k. This visit didn't make me feel comfortable with potential future visits. The Appointment(s) A part (nearly $300) was installed w/o any testing what so ever with an explanation this is the likely culprit and would save time in labor to change it out now. Uh, ok, I guess - I don't work on furnaces for a living. I looked over his shoulder during the entire operation. Lots and lots of troubleshooting went on with no results. There was a lot of talk and push to replace the 13 year old furnace with a new $3 k unit, that the old furnace could fail during the peak heating problem season. It took nearly 5 hours of troubleshooting over a period of 2 days, and a lot of time on the phone with tech support. At the end, there is a small flange where the pilot light gas is distributed over the spark igniter. The spark igniter worked flawlessly on cue each time. The pilot light gas line could be lit with a match stick each time on cue. It dawned on me to slightly bend the flange that held the two in position so that the gas stream was closer to the spark. Joe opposed to bending the flange saying it would be out of factor spec the flange was old and brittle, and could be unreliable. His best advice was to spend the $3 k and buy a new system. With nothing to lose, and a $3 k gamble, I put pliers to the flange and bent it about 1/16" of an inch. I asked Joe to fire it, and it worked. Everything was put back together and the furnace fired perfectly each of the 7 times total it was test fired. It was all buttoned up and a bill was presented for $535.25. After the fact, I was miffed because a nearly $300 part was swapped out w/o any testing what so ever. Sometimes education comes with a hefty price tag. The system worked flawlessly all winter long.
Description of Work: Troubleshoot 13 year old furnace system that would not heat, not turn on.

It was a week and a half before movine into my house and had called Quality Plumping, Heating and A/C because the Heat pump was not cooling properly. I had called on Friday to set up a time for them to come out the next week to work on the A/C and was told that they would have someone come out by Wednesday of the next week and Thursday at the latest. I said that would be OK because we would be moving on Saturday and I wanted to make sure that it was working by then being it was late August and it was hot. The next Wednesday came and no one showed up, on Thursday morning I called to reverify that someone would be coming and was told that they were extremely busy because it was so hot and that they would be out first thing Friday morning. I reluctantly agreed. Friday morning came and no one showed at 12:30 pm I called and was told that the guy was on his way. At 4:15 pm he finaly showed up. He did some testing and buy the time that he came up with the solution it was 4:50 pm he then came to me and said that if I wanted him to go ahead and fix the problem that it would take him to after 5:00 pm to fix the problem wich would cost me overtime. Again, I was over a barrel and had to agree. He fixed it or so he said and said that there was a part that he could put on the Heat pump to make it more efficient for us and that he would order it and come back in a week and install it. After a week my Heat pump was freezing up and not working correctly I then called a different HVAC company and they came out diagnosed the problem in 10 minutes time fixed the problem and it has been working great ever since. I finally got a call from Quality 5 weeks later about the part that he was going to install, I told them NO THANKS

They came to our house within 24 hours of us contacting them (this was not an emergency call). They knew we had a newer house so before they ordered parts for our furnace, they actually checked with the manufacturer to see if our furnace was still under warranty and it was. They ordered the blower wheel and came to install it once they received the part. They also then replaced the two flush seals in our two bathroom toilets. This was on a Friday and over the weekend we noticed one of the toilets was still running so we shut it off and called them first thing Monday morning. They immediately came and fixed it and everything is working great!
Description of Work: Keith installed a new blower wheel in our furnace and replaced two flush seals in two of our bathroom toilets.
