They were going to charge me $52,000 and then they found a $7,000 or $8,000 error in one of their bills. They took the price of the countertop and labor off the bill. I had already paid them $29,000 and the last $20,000 was over and above what they said it would be. It was supposed to include all the labor. They subbed out the hardwood floor installation and I had to pay for that. We got the bill down to about $13,000 and I had it inspected. There were a number of defects. Largely the only thing that he was willing to do was complete the work that he had already billed me for but hadn't done. There are multiple problems. The roof they put on leaks. They didn't put a ridge board on part of the porch so it is sagging. They installed the front door 2 or 3 times and you can still see daylight around it. When they were hanging the cabinets they didn't plumb the wall first. In order to keep the line at the top of the cabinets level with the cabinets coming from the other wall, they had to gap them at the bottom. They covered a couple of electrical outlets with cabinets. It was a real bad job. It was very expensive and low quality work. I am getting ready to have somebody come in and correct all the mistakes. I gave them $29,000 and they filed a mechanic's lien for $13,000 but they never took it to court.
