Description of Work: The quality of work and attention to detail was excellent. We had a leak in the roof during a rainy spell and Wayne Winn, the owner of Home Town Restyling, pulled workers off another job to replair the leak. We had extensive damage to a wall, besides the roof and the work was completed in a week. I can't recommend this company enough.

Description of Work: A project was started in the fall of 2005 . The following spring they pretty much pulled out. The next year a robo type call, (but a person) was made wanting to know if we had any services or upgrades we'd like to have done. I replied I'd just like to have the original work completed. Person I was speaking to was dumb founded, and would pass it on. The third time we were called I said the same thing, and asked that Wayne Winn would call me to straighten things out. He did call a few weeks later when I answered he seemed to be speaking to someone else in his office and apparently didn't realize I was on the phone trying to speak to him. He finished his conversation with the other person and hung up while I'm still on the line saying hello, hello... Never heard back. Meanwhile we are stuck with Windows that do not fit tight and "sing" when the wind is stong, there is a gap of anywhere from 3/8 to 3/4" between the 2aections on the slider windows. On an outside sliding patios door there is black mold along it's edge, especially where they caulked the frame to the carpet. One window has such a poor fit that little bugs come in (lots). The fella who signed us up said the entire project would be completed by Christmas. We didn't even have the Windows. They lied, not telling us the plant that they ordered from closed during the month of December. The "metal bender machine" was left set up in our front yard throughout the winter and spring. As part of our exterior remodeling all subcontractors were signed by our salesman (Drew Davis, who was the manager of the Coralvile office) The stone work in the front was to be up before it got to cold, it ended up "tented" and we had to pay the additional charge for the propane. Drew also hooked up a sub to pour a new stoop at the front door. A post (we assumed of off white "pillar" type, would be placed at the NE corner, to hold up the roof of the entry. Drew made the (pilar), decision to make it out of stone and the weight of it has caused the stoop to pull away from the house several of inches at the top, and~2 " plus away from the house (house faces North, pretty healthy breeze when wind is out of the North). While pouring the stoop they got concrete all over the front of the storm door, workers said that was OK because it was getting replaced, when we said no, they said yes it was in the paperwork, it was but wasn't supposed to be. Drew found roofers to reroof the house and there was a leak the first time it rained We have lived here at that point about 20 years and had never had a leak before. Several "stacks" on the roof blew off. (Repaired by husband who said they had not been screwed on). Also in the original project they were to to replace several rotten areas of old siding and they didn't they just went right over them with the vinyl siding that was guaranteed not fade. Wrong! Several shades lighter. It was harvest time when they started and I had just gotten out ofthe hospital for neck and back. I was assured that Drew would be there several times a day making sure things were done right and on schedule. Drew and the workers did NOT get along at all. Each backstabbing the other. So a rather mutual agreement was made that Drew would let them do their thing, and not check or criticize them daily, and Wayne would settle the differences. We have an enclosed porch, with over size gutters and downspouts (signed on by Drew) The design is poor and the water goes between the fascia and gutter thus under mining the patio below due to a pre existing seam. The area around the patio is built up with railroad ties even with the patio. I had asked the workers to please not jump off the RR ties as they were shifting. They continued to do this and 2 RR ties are now off. In the interim we are left with singing widows that don't fit tight in the frames, broken locks. No bug barrier, black mild, several pieces of metal trim that have blown off. A large piece of siding that's blown off A stoop that has pulled away from the front of the house. Numerous pieces of stone are off. A yellow area on the white cathedral ceiling. Dull and scratched storm door from the cement that we attempted to clean. We were not supplied with the written guarantees. When I last communicated with Wayne he said that Drew was no longer employeed by him, and that he appreciated the feedback as they were using it for training purposes. Thanks Wayne really helps my issues. He should be run out of town. I just cringe when I see their trucks at a house in the neighborhood. One of theworkers said he heard Wayne say I would never be satisfied, far from the truth as my father was a builder and I'm pretty sure I know the difference between the right way and the wrong way. And was home watching everyday. One of the siders quit the first day because he didn't want to deal with Drew. Another had terrible things to say about how the company was run, and none of them knew what they were doing (in the office and sales). When we signed up for all of this Drew was saying he was going to enter it in all kinds of contests, and was sure we would win....the warrantees were lifetime as was the installation and transferable too. (Wonder why I wasn't able to get a response to fix errors).

Within 24 hours after inquiry of HomeTown Restyling, I had a representative in contact with me and scheuled an appointment. Representative was very friendly and presented many different options. After a short amount of time, the representative had a quote prepared. Representative went over the quoted price line by line item. After the final numbers were calculated, Home Town Restyling was the best quote we had received in the area. The project was scheduled. The project actually started a month earlier than originally planned!! The workers made large amounts of progress within a very short amount of time. The workers were very organized and always left a clean work area when the day was complete. The workers worked through the weekend to ensure the project was completed within a reasonable time frame. The project was completed within a week's time frame. The house looks amazing!!! We have received so many compliments on how great the house looks. My overall with Home Town Restyling was excellent!! Would highly recommend.

The job was to take 2 days but they stayed and worked until the evening to get it done all in one day. We appreciated that greatly. We also had a ball game to attend in town so when they left they cleaned up and locked the doors for us. They were very professional and friendly. Our 7 year old son was in one of the rooms asking tons of questions and they took the time to answer them. We have more windows to replace and we look forward to using them again in the future.

They made the estimate, they gave me a time frame of when they could do it and they called a couple days before coming to insure that all was a go. They showed up on time and they finished the job in good time with a couple extras added in that were not planned beforehand. Very easy to work with and very professional. A blessing to have the job completed and certainly makes the local hobby carpenters look absolutely and shamefully amateur. Mr. Hale is a stick to it kind of guy and takes pride in his work. And I will call them for a window job coming up before winter.
Description of Work: Stepped in and did the finish work that a previous installer had left undone for three years. Excellent work ethics and stayed throughout 2 1/2 days of miserable 97-103 degree weather to get the job done. Even came back on a Saturday to finish up. I wish I had called these guys in the very first place and I sure will call them for anything in the future-FIRST! Very professional and caring.

We love the windows and had no problems with the service. It was trying to rain and just when it started sprinkling they were working on the last window. There were no leaks and no issues. They were glad to come out and demonstrate the windows, show us colors and they were very helpful with instructing us on how to open and clean the windows properly, which was very helpful to me.

We contacted Home Town Restyling to get an estimate on replacing three windows in our home via their website. Within 5 minutes of submitting my inquiry, I got a phone call to set up a consultation. The salesperson, Amanda, was flexible with her schedule and arranged to meet with us after "normal" working hours. She took the time to really understand what we wanted and worked to stay within our budget while still giving us a quality product. She told us that they employ, rather than subcontract, installers. She explained that since the installers are actual employees, they do excellent work. If they didn't, they wouldn't have a job. This was a HUGE selling point for us because of a bad experience with a different window company. About 4 weeks later, at the agreed upon time, 2 very friendly installers, dressed in Home Town Restyling shirts, driving a well maintained service truck with the Home Town Restyling logo showed up and got right to work. They worked quickly and efficiently and had the windows done and the work area cleaned up in about 3-4 hours. About a week after the installation, the salesperson we worked with called to make sure we were happy with how things went and to arrange a time to drop off our energy efficient rebate forms. Home Town did a great job of making us feel like we really mattered and not like we were just another job. We will definitely keep them in mind for future projects!

Amanda contacted us shortly after we attended the spring home show and came out to the house for an initial visit. We then went ot the showroom to see the sample door they have installed. After comparing products and pricing we decided to go with Hometown because we liked the way the door moved and the locking features. We wanted to work with a company that provided its own installers, not subcontractors. Price was comparable to other home remodeling companies providing installation. We'd been told end of May for installation based on the current schedule. However, they had a change in the schedule and our door had arrived so they called on Friday (4/27) and offered to install it the following Monday (4/30). The installers were prompt and had the work completed in half a day. Amanda came out for a follow-up visit to present out warrantee and other paperwork and to make sure we were happy with the product. We have been very pleased.

We called for an estimate. Ray came out and gave us an excellent presentation of the window quality, etc. along with an estimate of the cost. Really hadn't intended to purchase on the spot but were very impressed with the high quality of the windows along with being impressed with the company. Seeing what excellent quality the windows were, we purchased them right then for our main level of our home. They sent a person out to remeasure the window openings to get the exact size. Gave us an approximate time when we would see the installers after they were ordered, received etc. The gentlemen who installed them were professional, punctual, cleaned up any mess, etc. They answered any questions and were very attentive to any concerns. Very positive experience with Home Town Restyling and would not hesitate to use them in the future and would recommend the company to our friends and family!

Home Town Restyling contacted us the Friday before they were coming out to our house the following week. They were scheduled to start on a Tuesday morning, but made contact with us on Monday night to let us know that it would be later in the day on Tuesday when they would arrive. The replaced 17 windows and trim, inside and out in two and a half days. WOW! They cleaned up after themselves and we never even knew they were there! The men could be trusted in our home while we were gone at work. Our windows look fabulous and we look forward to doing more business with Home Town. It's on to our kitchen and bath remodels next!
Description of Work: We had 17 windows that needed to be replaced on our late 1950's ranch farm house. Our old windows were rotten and the seals were broken and you couldn't see out the front picture window. Our house was very drafty in the winter and then it would be 90 degrees in our living room when the sun was out. These windows were not energy effecient. We contacted Home Town Restyling by seeing their ad on television and then going to their website. After looking at their website, we knew they were a company worth talking to. Dave Wageman came out to do a short presentation on windows. We had estimates from other local lumber companies for just windows. It would have been our responsibility to find a contractor and the lumber companies had told us that if the windows didn't fit, we were out the money. That was a costly risk that my husband and I were not wanting to take. Dave told us how the company will measure the windows twice to make sure they fit, replace any rotten wood, match the wood trim around our windows on the inside, caulk and trim the windows on the outside. They offered financing for our windows and were approved on the spot to begin the project. It was a done deal! We were sold! Dave was such an easy guy to talk to and he did not pressure us into anything. It was like talking to a friend about a new exciting project.

We called and got an appointment for an estimate . Nick stopped out he was very thorough with out dragging the presentation out . He gave us very good information and gave very good demonstrations. There was a little break while they made the windows. Like I said they were very fast and friendly . They got the windows in and were gone in just a few hours . The price was a little high at first but seeing the quality of the finished product it is worth it. I would recommend to anyone. We will use home town again in the future.
Description of Work: We needed four new windows in the front of the house . They removed the old windows and installed the new ones . In one day there was no mess to the house we hardly even new they were here.

Ray spent several hours talking about the company, their products, and how they do things. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He became pushy at the end when I balked at the price. I really think that $14,000 to side a 28x52 single story house with no gable ends is a LOT of money. It's at least double what a local contractor would charge to do the job. Is their product that much better than I can order from Spahn and Rose? Probably not. Is their warranty better? Probably. Bottom line is that I can't afford to use them. They offer (push!) financing, and will repeatedly call you after you decline wanting to push their services. I never call them back, I told them once I'm not interested, that's all it should take. They also offer "specials" at the time they give the estimate, these seem to expire within a few days pressuring to sign a contract that day. For these reasons I rated them lower on professionalism. Overall I think they are probably a great company, and if money were no object I would not hesitate to hire them to work on my own home. Just shop around a little and make sure their pricing is in line for like quality and warranty.
Description of Work: Ray came out and gave me a review for siding, soffits, and gutters. I declined, due to the astronomical price quoted. The quality of the product appeared to be excellent, and the installation methods described were exactly what I would expect for this job. I'm very familiar with construction and home improvements, so I generally know when a contractor is telling me the truth or not, and I felt that overall Ray was honest. He did bash another type of siding (James Hardie fiber cement board) , a product I do not have a lot of familiarity with, so I don't know if it's good or bad.

Thank you for your complimentary comments regarding our product, installation and honesty of our Sales Representative (Ray). Ray should have asked more questions when he was there about what qualities and warranties you were wanting in a product and installation. Had he asked more questions, he would have showed you our entire product line, including a more alike kind and quality product similar to the one you are comparing to at the business you referenced. With that product, you would have found us more price-competitive. Our Customer Relations department follows up after each appointment. Our goal for this is complete customer satisfaction.

When we first moved in, you couldn't light a candle in our house without the draft blowing it out. The helpful window sales person, Tom Casey, came out and talked with us about our budget, our goals, and then assisted us in identifying our major issues that needed to be addressed immediately, and what could wait until we could afford more to be done. Tom gave us a price, we put down a down payment and were clearly given the details of how the remainder of payments were to be made so that we could plan the entire project. The approximate date was given for delivery of the windows and doors, and then we were given a phone call to set up installation ahead of time. The installers arrived on time, were dressed appropriately and were incredibly friendly. We were impressed with the quality of the product and the warrantee information given after installation. Since the installation we have had minor mishaps with window blinds not working and all it has ever taken is a phone call. Within 48 hours Tom or another representative from Home Town have been out to take pictures and confirm that they are ordering the correct piece to be fixed, they provide a time frame for delivery of the item and follow up with a phone call once the item is in to install it. We have NEVER had a complaint about service or product quality with Home Town Restyling, their staff, or professionalism.Within the last year, we have had them in to remodel our kitchen, entry-way, hall way, dining room, install a half bath, replace exterior stone work, re-side the exterior, and finish replacing the windows that were remaining. Our home is more energy efficient because of the expert work and advise that Home Town has provided. You may find less expensive companies to work with, but you won't find better. We tell everyone that we live in the house that Home Town Restyling rebuilt. I will end with this: When you have a home remodeling project that is going to extend into months, such as our kitchen, dining room, half bath, entry-way, remodel did; you have to know that there are going to be times when you are not going to be able to be at home and to trust the installers with your belongings. This company and it's employees are honorable and trust worthy. Tim installed our windows and doors, Jerome and Nick remodeled our kitchen (and all other rooms previously mentioned), Brad installed our tile over our stovetop, and Toby and T.J. replaced our exterior siding. If they had a problem, they took the time to explain it and then fix it right. If I wasn't happy with something, they would move mountains to make it right (as in the case of the pedestal sink). When they left every day they cleaned up before leaving and then talked to me about what time they would be on the job the next day. In today's world it is difficult to find quailty customer service. Home Town Restyling could give lessons to other contractors in professionalism and customer service. Like I said, you may pay a little more, but I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Description of Work: Since purchasing our "new-to-us" home in 2007, we have used Home Town Restyling to complete the following projects: Complete replacement of all windows and doors. This was done in stages, as we could afford it from 2007 to 2011. Removal of partial decking on second story. We had this removed because we took out sliding glass doors and put in windows. The deck was no longer needed and consequently we discovered a serious leak into our lower level wall that would have created a major problem had it not been discovered and corrected by Home Town. Residing and stone work to exterior. During this process we also discovered major rotting to portions of our exterior that were quickly and professionally dealt with. Had Home Town not repaired these as well as they did, we would have had major damage, including mold, in the near future. Complete remodel of kitchen, dining room, entry-way, and hall way. New drywall, replaced all cabinets, counter tops, redesigned the kitchen, new fixtures, new appliances, replaced banister surrounding stairwell to lower level, new windows and doors. Installation of half bath. I specifically asked for a pedestal sink that touched the wall in the back, all the way down and hid all plumbing. The first one that came did not do this, and immediately Tom Spence and Vicki (kitchen/bath designers) were on top of it and ordered a new pedestal sink. In their defense, the pictures in the pamphlets are not always clear as to what you are getting, but in the end it was perfect!

The actual installers were fantastic: Punctual, Courteous, and Professional. The two guys worked quickly, but thoroughly and completed the entire job on the day they said they would. They did a complete walk through at the end and answered all our questions.
Description of Work: Home Town Restyling sent a window salesman who took complete measurements of each window on a whole house install and then showed us all our options in various price ranges. He didn't try to oversell or get us to buy something in a higher price range. The windows were ordered and came in on time, with the whole house install actually happening a few days ahead of schedule. It was all very quick and easy with no problems.

End result is very good. Major headache(s) during project due to disconnect between salesman and install crew. Install crew had no knowledge of what salesman had agreed to and in some cases were in exact contrast to what sales said they could/would do as part of the install. Did not (initially) drill vent holes in old soffit prior to installation of new vented soffit material. Left many finger prints and stains on new soffit/fascia. Many dings, scrapes in paint on stucco siding required considerable touch-up after job completion. Pros:We got what we wanted in the end, but things could have gone A LOT smoother. Competively priced. Cons:Cigarette butts, metal clippings, ladders extended and not secured after hours, less than optimum caulking job, siding paint damage Take-away: Get everything in writing and communicate immediately face-to-face with install crew to cover all details. Basically, assume nothing.

They are very good. Their prices won’t be the lowest but they are outstanding in their work. There are no surprises and their work is guaranteed. If we have an issue with a window, they come, if we ever do. Once or twice there has been water and if we let them know those problems, they come right out. We would rate them highly and would absolutely use them again in the future if necessary.

I got bids from 2 other groups. I was happier with this group's plan to deal with the odd door size and the quality of materials. I considered to be worth the higher price. The crew completed the work in 1 day despite troublesome weather. They were polite, complete, and I'm happy with the quality of the work. No troubles with them leaving messes behind. Trim was a good match, and the sample board (which I was using) was returned as promised.
Description of Work: Replaced two sliding glass doors for abnormally sized doorways. The new doors were of higher than normal quality than what you'd pick up at a local store. New trim to match existing wood work was also included.
