Bix Basement Systems

Workers didn't show up the first scheduled day, left after 2 hours the 2nd day and didn't return, and didn't show up the 5th scheduled day. It took 6 days to complete the job I was told would take 3 days. Phone calls weren't answered or returned. The owner didn't seem to care that I was treated in an unprofessional manner.

They installed 5 plates against the wall and attached them to the other side of the driveway where they drilled down. It pulled the wall back up and all is secure and lifetime warranty that is transferable. Happy with results.

I highly recommend a patron seek a structural engineer’s recommendations prior to hiring Bix Basements for any foundation issues. This small action could have saved us thousands of dollars in unnecessary work. Bix did not have an engineer evaluate our home. We had a salesperson with “basic training” determine what issues he believed to be the problem, foundation settlement. The recommended solutions did not fix our floors, and we still have mold on our basement wall. We hired a structural engineer to review our situation following Bixs inability to correct the problem. The engineer informed us that our foundation was NOT settling instead we had old, improperly sized floor joists. We have contacted Bix multiple times to find a solution but were given unkept promises. Beware that the work description and contract are viewed on a small tablet. Our contract did not specify the exact description and specifications of the work to be done. Bix Basement also has given us the run around with issues on their PolyLevel warranty.

The guy that they sent off to do the work was not very knowledgeable. I had the work done before so I knew what was supposed to be done. I actually told him how to do the baseline. It ended up coming out alright. I have another company do it a little cheaper but they don't do our area anymore. They're on time in everything. I would probably not use them in the future.

It actually went well. There was an issue with concrete dust being all over but they made good on it. Be sure you ask them about how they plan to lessen the amount of dust from the removal of the old concrete to the mixing of the new.

Very good service across the board. Sales professional was punctual, knowledgeable, and polite. Our concerns were addressed and solution provided. The man that performed the work was great as well, he explained the work again and was done on time. The job came in well under budget, and we honestly wouldn't have known, they could have charged us the full amount but didn't. One note: This job was to address water seeping in through a crack in the basement and we haven't had much precipitation since the job has been done. While I have confidence that the problem is solved, I don't have any real proof yet.

Prompt, courteous workers who willingly explained the before, during, after process of what they were doing. They cleaned up this site extremely well and even though we were warned that some dust may enter our home, none did. They did a wonderful job of prepping our home with sheets of plastic which kept any work related dust out of the rest of our home.

I had many conversations with Bix employees since mid-January 2015. This job is at my mother's home. She is in a nursing home and I live in Ohio. Because of this I had to impose upon a friend, who also lives out of town, to be at the home for the duration of the project. Even though team members had this person's phone number she was never called when they were late, which was every day. Upon arriving late, they worked only 2-4 hours which extended the project timeline. When I arrived in Illinois in mid- January to view the work, I found the following| 3 significant size holes cut in the paneling Hole in the ceiling Damaged woodwork on closet Mud downstairs and on upstairs carpet Doors off closets Shelves dismantled and not put back Light fixtures not put back Light switch plates not put back on walls Wood torn out was left in basement Cracked and leaking sewer cap. Employees sent to rectify the problems listed above did the following: Patched and stained holes (does not match paneling and is still quite noticeable on both sides of wall). In the process of doing this, paint and filler got on the newly done wall restoration. Hung doors and reinstalled shelves that were not damaged Put switch plates back. In order to get the house on the market and address the issues above we had to have: Plumber replace sewer cap Hire cleaning firm to clean basement and upstairs carpet. The hole in the ceiling, damaged woodwork and restoration molding are still as Bix employees left them. The reason we chose Bix is that we had a Basement System installed in our home by the franchise in Ohio. They did a wonderful job and so we were sure we would receive the same from BIX for my mother's home. That is not the case. The sales personnel met with me at the home on Friday, March 27, at my request, to inspect the project and address the issues. He took pictures and assured me that he would speak with you the following Monday as to what compensation would be offered and then contact me no later than Tuesday. I am still waiting. Given the lack of professionalism on the part of employees, poor workmanship and lack of follow through, I cannot give positive recommendations on your business.

I noticed a few months back that I could see under a wall in my front room. The floor was sagging! I called Bix as I had used them on a couple of rather large (for me anyway) projects in the past concerning my crawl space. I had a salesman here within a week with a firm price and the job was schedule within the month. This company has the best people that I have ever worked with from marketing to sales to receptionist. Every crew I have had here has been the greatest to work with. Knowledgeable, nice, fast and when they leave you would never know they were here. Other then the problem you had been stressing over has been resolved. I would never consider anyone else. (Oh, I did interview for a weekend position working trade shows and they didn't like me as much as I liked them. I was only interested because I tell Everyone I talk to about how pleased I was so I thought, hey, maybe I can get paid for it)

Everything was great. They called and asked if they could come a day ahead and I was fine with that. They were courteous and kind and very professional. The work was excellent!

Preformed the job the day they said they would. Showed up on time, Very professional. Completed the job in a few hours. Quote was done in May and job was scheduled in August and completed.

The worker arrived and could not complete the expected work.

I feel bad because this was one of the best companies that I have ever dealt with. I think we had 3 different crews and they were all great. Here's my problem and it wouldn't cause me to not recommend them or use them again myself. From the time I signed the contract to the time the work was scheduled the salesman that I worked with either left or was terminated. When the crew got here they didn't seem to know what to do and asked me if I had planned to provide my own sump pump. One of them also told me that if I would just open the vents in my crawlspace it would dry out on it's own. This is against everything they recommend as I was sold on sealing the crawlspace and I'm glad I did. They have a system called and quot;Ice Guerdand quot; where they bury the discharge line from the pump and have a mechanism to keep it from freezing in the winter. The salesman showed me this and I was lead to believe I was getting it. The crew that came told me they would need another 350.00 to do that so instead I have a 12 foot pipe sticking out into my backyard. I expressed my disappointment on the exit survey and received a nice call from Bix telling me they would be back to install it no charge. Of course I was thrilled thinking this was above and beyond what most contractors would do. I was scheduled twice but had to be cancelled because of rain. I sent an e-mail a couple of months ago asking about it but did not receive a reply and I called a month ago and talked to a real nice lady who said someone would call to re-schedule. So far nothing. I'm a bit worried that If I have a warranty problem I'm going to get the same treatment. I even expressed interest in signing a service contract to have a yearly inspection but also did not receive a reply. Again, a good company that did a great job at a reasonable price. I just think maybe they have too much business to keep up with.

Estimate was above our budget limits.

The representative did a great presentation! We choose Bix because they worked on my son's house last year.

Bix was on time and on schedule. The initial installation did not entirely solve the problem and they returned immediately to make modifications that resulted in a water free basement at no additional cost.

A great group of people from the salesman to the lady calling to schedule and of course the crew that did the job. A real professional group and a pleasure to work with. They will be coming back in a few weeks to tile, add a sump pump and place a barrier on the crawlspace floor. I would not hesitate to call them for any problems that arise.

Time will tell for sure, but overall they were good to work with. The original appointment was missed due to equipment problems so we had to reschedule. They left the tool to tighten the anchors but it would have been good for them to have talked through that process in person. Overall, it went well.

Excellent! Tons of fun, would recommend this race at least once... but TRAIN for it the hills can be brutal!

Crew was punctual and had great respect for customers property. Clean up of basement and yard was very thorough. Crew was professional and courteous. Explained the process and encouraged questions and concerns.

Bix completed the repair quickly and tested their work thoroughly. They also performed a thorough check for other foundation cracks or damage. The team is very knowledgable and hay to answer homeowners questions and make recommendations.

We had them come in to look at adding an anchor system to our basement wall. The previous owners of this house had them put in anchors on 2 walls and we are in need of a third. He arrived early (but not too early) and was very professional. He answered all questions I had and gave us, what I feel, is a very fair estimate for the work. He drew up the plans and left us a packet with all information we would need to make our decision.

Overall we were pretty happy with them. They did a real good job and actually the first time around, we had problems with what they had done and they came back and totally took care of it - it was a huge fix. They said that they have used faulty materials and they fixed it even better at absolutely no charge. And we were pretty happy with their guarantee. They are a good company. I think they are out of Iowa, but they travel. I guess their prices were reasonable, I don't know, because I don't think we shopped around. It bothered me a little bit that they were not really based here, but that really didn't seem to be a problem. I would consider using them again in the future.

It was unbelievably smooth! The estimate was quick and it didn't change from the finished price. The estimator answered all my questions, and sent the forms immediately. When I had follow up questions, the office staff were pleasant and quick to respond. We had to delay once because of rain, but they were on it the next week. I didn't get pushed back. The construction crew was friendly and very fast. They repaired 70% of my foundation (what we agreed was needed) in a little over a day and a half. They cleaned up really well and in the backyard I can barely tell they were there. The front needs to settle right around the foundation, but that is the case whenever you have to do dirt work. The rest of the yard was unharmed. Seriously, I have never had a better construction experience and I would hire them back in a minute. Also, they have a great guarantee. I know it sounds too good to be true, but I would happily speak to potential clients in person if they have doubts.

Absolutely beautifully. no water in basement and it is ready for the waterproofing.
