Description of Work: We have a passive solar heating system with a furnace back up. The furnace was not functioning but was still under warranty when we contacted this provider. He replaced the furnace but took over 6 months to do so and then took another year before the final bill was received. Only then did he tell us the warranty was not valid (we know that he made modifications when it was originally installed, thus the problem) and wanted us to pay for it AFTER he took the original furnace away for "parts". We were not credited for the furnace. Nor were we EVER given an itemized invoice for the time billed to us.

Description of Work: A pipe going to an outdoor spigot cracked right next to the wall. They cut out the cracked pipe, replaced it, chipped the spigot out of the brick, replaced the spigot, and patched the hole in the brick. | |They didn't try to match the color of the concrete patch to the brick and they completely forgot to patch the underside of the spigot they repaired, but when I called back, they came over and finished the job.

I don't remember having to call him back to fix anything his crew had worked on--almost always a one-trip fix, but the town is small enough that if there's a trip back to the shop it doesn't add much to the time on job. He was the go-to plumber and heating/AC guy for an 8-year remodeling project, so my opinion is pretty stable from all the contact.
Description of Work: Dave helped design heating / AC duct system I wanted to install myself. He recommended adjustments, helped me with some tricky metal forming. Then he planned and recommended the right furnace and heat pump, which have worked great ever since installation in 2006, helping me with the paperwork for some tax breaks and discounts that brought the price down. His assistants are all competent on their own; I've seen all of them in my basement at one time or another with new plumbing, repairs on old plumbing, drain-cleaning, etc. Dave is friendly and balanced, conscientious, hard-working and focused. He's willing to talk things through. One problem came up and he stayed reasonable while I figured out with him what had happened, and it turned out to be some other plumber had made a goof, and it had been another family member who brought the other plumber in while I thought it was Dave's work.
