+ 0 moreOverall I am dissatisfied with Smith Home Gallery. I gave details above. Additionally on 3 occassions when I called I was told that the consultant was in, then they asked my name and after they checked with her, they would come back on the phone and say she had stepped out or give another reason (excuse) she was no longer available for calls. All I wanted was just a little information of any kind.
Description of Work: We initiated contacts with Smith Home Gallery October 2012. We did have one actual meeting to go over our requests for a custom kitchen as well as sun room, great room and bathrooms. We were assured they would get back to us. I never heard back by either phone or e-mail. After New Year I called several times and was told that I would receive a return call, but never did. We had mentioned the time frame for new home build, so I assumed that our plans were underway. After more calls, I finally went into the shop in March 2013 where I was informed that I was at fault for poor communication with them. Huh...Really? I had seen their work in homes, and was looking forward to using them. We are having our ome built by 100% Dubuque craftsmen and contractors and are 100% satisfied with their professionalism and service. We could not speak more highly of them all. Smith Home Gallery has such poor customer relations and follow up that I am sorry to write this review...but please beware!! I have since talked with others in the area and they also have had a similar experience or knew this was getting to be their reputation. They have fine quality products, my review is only reguarding their customer service. Good luck.

+ 1 moreWe were remodeling the kitchen in our new house, but decided to keep the existing cabinets. We needed more storage, however, and decided to have a built-in L-shaped bench created for the attached breakfast room. Gerb Smith came by and measured everything up for us. He knew we were looking for storage, but other than that we left the design in his hands. He was honest about the time frame and gave us updates on progress and the install date. I wanted the bench installed before the Christmas holiday, and Smith delivered! When we saw the finished product, we couldn't believe the storage. Smith managed to fit twelve paneled drawers in our bench. The style matched our existing cabinetry and the stain color beautifully complemented the old cabinetry and our new wood floors. After the installation of our benches, I mentioned that I was still looking for the right-sized table. I needed something much narrower than I could find on the market. Smith's solution? A custom built table! Why didn't I think of that? They built my table to custom dimensions, also including a leaf for larger family gatherings. You'd think we were done, but the solutions kept coming. We added a pulll-out garbage system to one of our old base cabinets and a pantry slide-out system to another poorly functioning cabinet. When we bought a fridge that was slightly too tall for the cabinet above, Smith took the cabinet, trimmed it down and made it work. All in all, I couldn't be happier. My next step with Smith Home Gallery will be to furnish my family room. They are a true one-stop shop and have some unique furniture and accessories.
Description of Work: Through Smith Home Gallery we ordered a custom L-shaped bench for our breakfast room for our kitchen remodel. We also ended up ordering a custom table and adding functionality to older cabinets.
