DUBUQUE MOVING & STORAGE

Poorly. Movers were polite and courteous. I had left my house while they were packing up my home office so I could work from a second location and told them to call me when they were done and ready to go to the new house. They called after they had already arrived at the new house, so I stopped by the old house to make sure they had locked up. Turns out left my front door wide open (not just unlocked actually OPEN). I didn't want to make a big deal of it so I locked up and met them at the new house and mentioned quietly to one mover what had happened. They were very apologetic. The next day while unpacking we noticed things missing, so I went back to the old house to see if anything had been left. They left 2 carloads of stuff in the house, and left half the windows on my second floor OPEN. It got to -13 degrees that night and my windows were open. I called the company to complain and was told they would call me back. I waited a week, called again, was told they would call me back. Waited another 2 days, called back and was told "The movers don't open windows. They don't lock/unlock doors. It's your responsibility to make sure they remove everything from your house." I was told I could come in and have a meeting with the movers, I'm not entirely sure what that would accomplish since either they lied to management or management is lying to me. Manager at the company told me if I wasn't willing to watch the crew like hawks and basically be their supervisor I shouldn't have hired them. I wish someone had told me that before I paid them nearly $3000. Manager told me if I wanted to tell the world about my experience to go right ahead, and if I ever needed to be moved again to call Mayflower. I suggest you all do the same.

The gentlemen showed up to our home about 60 minutes later than originally promised. and we had one item get damaged. My biggest concern has been the follow up. When we noted the damaged item, we were told to have someone come and fix it and then to just send them the bill. However, we werent able to find anyone and when I called to let them know, the response that I received was much different. I was told that I needed to get an estimate before doing anything. Also, since it was a piece of furniture, I had no way to get the piece to a repair shop. All in all, it wasn't a horrible experience. However, I am not sure that i would use them again.

Three very polite and responsive men did a thorough and efficient job.

We received a will not exceed estimate of around $1500. This compared to the other company that gave us an estimate except the other company allowed the price could go higher. The five guys were very helpful even connecting the dryer for me. No damaged occurred and everything was put in the right places. When it came. Imelda for the bill, it was $200 under the estimate. When was the last time that happened? We were very pleased and recommend these folks highly.

When we called about moving, the gentleman set up a time to come to give us an estimate. He gave us a number that they would not exceed, which we thought was a good idea. We set up a date for moving, and then we packed. The movers were there on time and put down clothes throughout the house so they would not track. If something could not be moved the way it was they told us what we needed to do to make it so. They were not afraid to ask questions and to communicate with us. Loading the truck was easier than unloading, because they had to take things up or down stairs at our new home. It was so hot but they kept working and were always responsive if we asked them to put something in a different spot. We were very pleased with the service and the efficiency.

They arrived on-time for a move from Dubuque to Chicago. Loading went extremely smooth without any issues. They even took an inventory. Once in Chicago the unloading went just as smooth. Very professional, courteous and careful with possessions. I had used moving companies at least 5 other times and this company was by far the best I have encountered. I would definitely use them again if I had the opportunity (since I am now in Chicago) and I would recommend them highly.
