Excellent. They scheduled the repair for the next day, I was called in the AM telling me they had an earlier opening which was great for my schedule, the repairman came, was very polite and efficient. He immediately found the problem, and while he could have tried to "upsell" me into a different wiring or speaker system, he made do with what we had already, plugged the wiring from the soundbar to the appropriate ports on the back of the TV and poof...done. Cost of coming out is around $100 including tax which is pretty fair in this area.

Travis TV ordered new part. Three days later Travis called part arrived. Tech came out following day and explained that a new tuner would take a lot of soldering and another part could easily burn out from the heat,. He but in new and quot;board.and quot; Time involved in this procedure was about 20 minutes. Tech told us there would be no charge as Travis contacted the manufacturer (LG) and told the LG people that we were good customers as we have 3 LG TV sets The Tech was very polite, friendly and extremely professional. He has been and quot;workingand quot; on TV sets for about 20 years. This experience solidified our confidence in Travis TV/Audio.
Description of Work: Service Tech came to the house. TV 2 1/2 years ol, warranty expired. Tech determined tuner was the problem.

Traviss Audio Video have a sterling reputation. They've been around for 60 years. They were great and right there on time. The installers were very knowledgeable and knew what they were doing. They did a couple of other things and didn't even charge me for it. I may be buying another television from them again soon.
Description of Work: We purchased a high-end television from them and they installed it.

I called and spoke with them. They stated that they do perform pre-wiring of a room, and stated that it normally cost around $150-300 to do pre-wiring for just speakers. I told him that I had 2 rooms, and that I wanted pre-wiring for speakers, and HDMI to a projector. He then stated that they don't do just pre-wire but that and quot;we want you to buy the speakers, and the projector and do the whole project for you.and quot; I understand that they want to sell these things, and do more business, however, I am not ready to do that at this time in my remodel, and just needed pre-wiring completed. When I am ready to go purchase my projector, receiver, DVD player, speaker system, 2 LED TV's, and anything else that is needed, I will certainly go elsewhere.

We have been doing business with Traviss for the past fifteen years at least. We just purchased the two new TVs and blue ray players. Our purchase incuded delivery, installation, and removal of some old TVs. Everyone we dealt with was very respectful, professional and did a GREAT job all around for us! We have always been VERY SATISFIED with the dealings we've had with Traviss, which include both new purchases and repair. I'm all about service and theirs has been way above satisfactory!

They were knowledgeable and helpful. They suggested proper equipment without wanting me to spend a lot of money. They did a great job with the installation. I would use them again in the future if need be.

My 15 month old 42 inch Sony TV was starting to stop working, the edges were becoming blue. I called Traviss, where I purchased the TV, and had them diagnose the problem. Very friendly guy, told me he had bad news, that I was looking at about $600 in repair for a 15 month old $2,000 TV. I was upset because it had only been out of warranty for three months. He empathized with me, and said it was out of his hands, but did suggest that I call Sony and he gave me some pointers. After many calls to Sony and a letter, Sony agreed to pay for the $450 part. Traviss agreed to install it for free - a real nice touch that they didn't have to do, but I appreciated it. The only thing I ended up paying for was the original $75 trip fee to diagnose the problem. The installation was quick, repairmen was on time, and the TV looks great now. This is why I stay away from the big chains and buy from local guys.

The overall experience was lousy. They have an elitist attitude. The service techs had no idea how to repair the TV and after a month of their runarounds I gave up.

I was greeted by Jeff Traviss who was rude, condescending and disrespectful. He told me the cost would be higher than I was quoted just to look at the problem. I told him the problem with the camera (it wasn't flashing properly) and he repeatedly told me to take it back to where I bought it, even after I explained it was a gift from my husband who is now deployed with the Army and I had no idea where it was purchased. Mr. Traviss then told me they wouldn't service the camera because it wasn't a model they sold, even though I was told on the phone they repaired all models of Sony digital cameras. He again said "you need to take it back to where you purchased it". He also told me there wasn't a problem but that I needed to learn how to use the camera. He was truly the worst example of customer service in Des Moines. I will never purchase or repair anything with this local company which is unfortunate because I truly like to support local businesses where possible.
Description of Work: I took a digital camera in for repair after first calling to be sure they serviced the brand. I was told they did service Sony digital cameras and there would be a charge just to look at it.
