Description of Work: We sought a quote for carpeting I several rooms and hardwood floor refinishing, and prior to inquiring about the quote provided the flooring guys with square footage numbers and a project description. A site visit was scheduled, and I left work early to meet the estimator. We were told to expect a quote within a week, which seemed long to begin with. We never received a quote, and calls were never returned. We ended up going with a far more responsive competitor.

I am very happy with The Flooring Guys (FG) and I highly recommend them. Initially I paid for two estimates from Home Depot and Lumber Liquidators. Someone called me from Vermont and Michigan respectively and this totally turned me off to those bigger companies. Plus I never met the people that were to actually do my flooring. Some man from Home Depot came to my place and drew a fancy, computerized sq. foot layout of my place but I never did receive an estimate. Sean Thompson and his business are top notch. They were professional, friendly, skilled, and very knowledgable. I received personalized service. My new flooring is beautiful. It looks so nice, I don't want to cover it with rugs. Also with the FG, the service did not stop after the sale. I'm not used to that anymore; it seems like when a business gets their sale and their money the service is over. With the FG, there was follow-up. They wouldn't let me pay the final payment until the work was done and I was happy. I really can't say enough about the FG and I won't hesitate to hire them again if I install more flooring in the rest of my condo.

About a week and half before they came to do the job, I had them come out to find out how much it would cost and how much material I would need and how much it would cost for the labor. Before they showed up on day 1, I went to Menards and picked up the carpet, padding, tile, laminate, laminate padding, grout, mortar, quarter round. The carpet, laminate and tile I liked were all on sale and they had a rebate on the carpet padding for half price. With the sale price and rebate, I saved over $550. I also needed plywood and dens-shield but I have a small car and it would not fit in my car. I contacted Sean and told them I wasn't able to get it and said his crew can take me to Menards and pick it up and haul it in their van at no cost to me. I had my uncle come over the night before the flooring guys came and we moved the stove and refrigerator in the living room and my uncle removed the carpet/padding from the garage door entrance and removed the carpet/padding and tact strip in the dining room area as well as the vinyl and quarter round from the front door entrance. The reason I had my uncle do this is to save some money on labor. When the crew got to my house on day 1, they measured how thick the plywood needed to be to make sure we got the correct size and took me to Menards to pick it up. I paid for the materials and went back to my house, the crew started working. One person was working on the tile and the other person working on the laminate. The person working on the tile filled the crack in by the garage door entrance and then cut out the dens-shield and then tiled the garage door area and then tiled the front door area. The other person working on the laminate, cut out the plywood and inserted in the dining room area, put down the laminate padding and then laminated the dining room and kitchen area. They put the laminate over the vinyl in the kitchen. I had shut my burglar alarm off but at some point late in the morning the fire alarm went off when they cutting material. I went to shut it off and chose the option that it was a false alarm. I immediately called my alarm company to make sure to cancel the call and shut the fire alarm off until 7pm the next day so this wouldn't happen again, but it was too late. The fire department arrived and came in the house to inspect things and then left. At the end of the day, I was told the vent in my dining room was not cut properly and they said they would fix it the next day. The tile was put down, but was told to stay off both areas until the next day which I did. After they left, my uncle came over we moved the stove refrigerator back to the kitchen and then moved the couch, lazy boy, big screen TV and the rest of furniture into the kitchen / living room area and also moved the things out of the hallway closets. My uncle then took out the carpet/padding out of the living room, hallway, hallway closets and both sets of stairs without stepping on the tile. My uncle than put down killz and let it sit for a few hours to eliminate the cat urine smell. On day 2, when the flooring guys arrive, I showed them the area where there was rotted plywood and asked them if they could fix this. They made a few calls and agreed on a price and a person went to Menards and picked up some material and brought it to my house to fix the area before they started laying the padding and new carpet. They cut out area of the rotted plywood and put some 2 by 4's and then put new plywood and secured the area. After this was done, the person that brought the materials left to another job and the person working on the tile area, grouted the front door and garage door areas, and installed the quarter round. The person working on the laminate fixed the area by the vent and installed quarter round. We ended up being short on quarter round. I am not sure if I miscalculated the length and didn't get enough or if we actually needed more than estimated. I went to Menards and got more quarter round. The person, who installed the quarter round in the kitchen and dining room, had to work around the furniture. The furniture was moved there so they could install the new carpet/padding. Another set of people came to lay the carpet. They measured things and started to lay the padding and then put down the new carpet. They did the living room, hallway, hallway closets and 2 sets of stairs. When they were done, the vacuumed the carpet and cleaned up and left. I had my uncle come over that night and we moved all of the stuff back to its original places. After everything was back I took a look at everything and am very satisfied with how everything looks. The quarter round by the garage door doesn't look right. I don't like the color. I should have got some darker quarter round. I will stain this to get the color I like. There is only one issue which is the vent in the dining room. He cut the area that it fits now and looks nice, but if you go to it, it will slide up, down, left right. The other vents are snug and won?t move. I will have my uncle come over next week and get some wood blocks to secure the vent. I also will have him stain the bottom quarter round. I spent about $1540 on materials and $1160 on labor. The flooring guys? prices are very reasonable and they do quality work and are very professional. I would highly recommend the flooring guys to all of my friends and it was nice to get a 5% discount for being an Angie?s list member. Sean called me after they left to make sure I was satisfied.
Description of Work: I had them add tile to my garage door entrance (originally was carpet). They also added quarter round. I had them add tile to my front door entrance (originally was vinyl) In my dining room they added laminate (originally was carpet) In my kitchen they added laminate (originally vinyl) They added quarter round to both kitchen and dining room areas. In my living room, hallway, hallway closets and 2 sets of stairs, they re-carpeted these areas. The old carpet was worn out. They added a multi-purpose reducer (transition piece where the carpet and laminate meet) They added an transition piece by my bathroom door They got plywood and a couple of 2 by 4's and cut out the area in my hallway where the plywood had rotted and patched it up so that when you step on the area, you dont sink and is sturdy / stable. They filled a crack in the cement by the garage door entrance They hauled away the old carpet / padding and disposed of it for me
My experience with The Flooring Guys was GREAT! They were very knowledgable about all the products and gave us several options to choose from, even directing us to their suppliers for a greater selection than what was currently in their showroom. Once we selected our woods, they gave us a very competitive quote. The install was done shortly after. The install went great, all workers were professional the owner checked up on the progress throughout the install, even stepping in to finish when one of the installers got sick. After instill, we found one small manufacturer's flaw in the board, when we asked what could be done, the owner himself came out to look and was able to reinstall a new board. They were very committed to quality and our satisfaction. I would recommend them to anyone!

We pride ourselves in doing a great job for our customers in not only quality of work, but also value for the products we sell. Customers call us all the time to ask for an idea on costs of work to be done in their home (without us looking at it in person). Our company always error on the side of caution when bidding over the phone. By bidding cautiously we try to figure worst case scenario for the customer. It eliminates unwanted surprises. So many companies out there in our profession throw out really low bids over the phone to get an invite to bid. After viewing the project their bid goes up and the customer is dissatisfied. We would rather give a cautious bid over the phone, with the hopes that once we see it we can save money and time for the customer. Hope you were able to get your project done in a satisfactory manner. Thanks for giving us a chance. We look forward to helping you in the future. Sean
We are very pleased with Sean and his crew. His pricing was unbelieveable. We comparison shopped because we were spending so much money and found his pricing to be unbeatable. We dragged our feet for a few months before we actually committed, stopping by his shop and taking sample after sample home to scrutinize for a day or two. There was never any charge to borrow samples and anything we ever needed was alway provided for with a very positive, can-do attitude. Sean even drove us to a couple of new construction homes that he did, to show off his fantastic craftmanship. After seeing his work we were sold. Sean was always extremely personable and very attentive to our questions and needs, even when we probably were a pain in his butt. Anytime we needed him to stop by to look at something we had a question about he was "Johnny on the spot". The thing I think I appreciated the most about him was how well he interacted with my wife, answering all her questions and making her feel at ease. He was fantastic about explaining all his work, the methods he would use and how long his crew needed to be in our home. He worked very well with our schedules. Sean's crew was top notch as well. They all were VERY polite and conscientious around our family. (We have 5 kids and a dog so it definitely was not easy for his crew to maneuver all the action in our home, to say the least.) They worked two weeks straight, on Saturday and Sunday to help us get our home back together sooner, understanding how important that was to a family of our size. I know I already mentioned that he and his crew are conscientious, but it is worth stating again. We were not a member of Angie's list prior to this project and only joined so that we could leave Sean a great recommendation becasue the job he did for us deserves to be recognized in a public way. We cannot say enough great things about Sean and his crew, and in a time of crappy service and indifferent attitudes, it was a breath of fresh air to work with The Flooring Guys. We are already planning on using them for our next project ---just as soon as we pay off this one! Way to go, Flooring Guys!!!

I wanted to give these guys a good rating because they were the only ones to respond to my email request for an estimate using Angie's List, out of 3 or 4 other installers. But, it didn't go well from the start when I had asked for an 8 am appointment on a Saturday, but they didn't show up. When I called to see why they were late, Sean explained he had written down 8:30 in his appointment book (but he wouldn't have made it by then anyway). So to make it up to me Sean said he would come early on that Sunday. He came on time then and did the measurements and promised he would send me the estimate the next day by email. I didn't receive the email on Monday, and called them about it on Tuesday. The email finally arrived on Wed. Then there was another mix-up when I tried to contact them to schedule the installation. It seems they don't keep an appointment book on the office computer, but rely on the individual installer to schedule the appointment, which is not always convenient when they're on the job site. Sean wasn't able to get to his appointment book when I called and said he would call me back in about an hour to set it up. I waited over an hour and he didn't call. After that I gave up. Maybe if they get a better system for appointments set up other customers will have a better experience.

The flooring guys came out that week. They had called us to let us know they would be coming, which helped us prepare our home for them. The crew came to the house and started working, I went to work after they had got there and felt very comfortable with them in my home. After my work day I cam home to a house that had beautiful carpet, the guys were finishing up some last minute things but overall I was impressed at how great it looked, how clean my house was when they were finished- they took all the garbage and carpet scrapes with them. I loved how hard they worked to get the job done in a timely fashion. It has been a few weeks since the carpet has been installed and I love how it looks and feels. I have had no complaints about this company. We will use them again in the future and would recommend them to friends and family.
Description of Work: We needed carpet in our new house we just bought. My husband and I came into the store and picked out some carpet and pad that we loved. I was surprised at all the different selections of carpet, and how well the staff knew about different options we could use in our house. The next day Sean came out to measure our house and gave us a great quote on the carpet, pad, an labor. We decided to go with the flooring guys because of their friendly and knowledgeable staff and great price.

We had originally picked out our tile at a different flooring store and had them give us a quote for the tile, installation and the tear out of our exsisting tile. We were a little taken back by the amount and decided to get some more quotes from some different flooring stores. We have some relatives that live in the Saylorville Township area and they recommended we check out this smaller flooring store near their house called The Flooring Guys. By this time we had about 3 quotes in our hands and thought one more couldn't hurt, so we drove out on a Saturday and the owner Sean was working. He was very nice to talk with, laughed alot and was very knowledgable about the products, they even had our original tile that we wanted! We asked them for a quote and he came out to measure for free just to make sure our footage was right. The quote they gave us blew everyone else out of the water and Sean was by far the nicest one out of all of them. When they came in to do our tear out, they told us there would be some expected dust and they hung plastic to help keep it out of the rest of the house. The guys were nice and talkative and really easy going. The job went smoothly and they were really good about picking their equipment up and cleaning up after themselves. Our tile looks great and we would refer everyone we know to them!

When I called for an estimate Sean showed up the same day and had the written estimate back to me the same evening. I was so impressed by his professionalism that I didn't even bother to call for another estimate. His estimate seemed very fair and reasonable and his references were all good. He told me that he could get me scheduled in about two weeks. Due to a cancellation or material shortage he was able to fit my job in the following Monday! I was thrilled and surprised. The majority of the work was completed in two days, as promised. They returned for some finishing touches that I had requested for part of two additional days. Sean adjusted the invoice down for the unused material that I was able to return to the store and did not adjust it up to account for all of the extra finishing that I had asked for. Again, a very pleasant surprise. I was able to return nearly $300 worth of material, due in no small part to the expertise of the installers. There was very little waste! I don't think I have ever had a more satisfying experience with any service company. I would highly recommend The Flooring Guys!
Description of Work: The Flooring Guys installed laminate flooring in my dining room, living room, entryway, hallway, landing, bedroom, office and closets on the main floor. They also installed the quarter round trim. They were clean, efficient and professional. The quality of their work was amazing! The installers (Alphonso and Luis) were perfectionists and responded to every special request with a smile and an affirmative answer. I couldn't have found better installers. In a word, they were FANTASTIC!

Mark, the owner, was very easy to work with. He stopped daily to check on the progress and to see if we had any concerns. He knew we were anxious to get the job done so he had some of his crew work on Saturday. They left the place clean every night and they were all very polite and courteous.
