The deal expired at the end of January, but when I called in early January, she couldn't fit me in until early March, but promised to honor the deal until then. When March rolled around, she had to reschedule and promised to get me back on the schedule ASAP. I waited more than a week to hear about a new date for the cleaning, then finally had to get back in touch myself to get rescheduled. I couldn't get back on the schedule until mid-April. After our first couple phone calls to set up the original appointment, the owner of the business communicated only by text message, even when she had to reschedule and again the night before the cleaning (at 9:45 p.m.) to remind me of the appointment, asking me to make sure everything was picked up and reminding me that "tips are greatly appreciated." The owner arrived as promised with another cleaning assistant on the day of my cleaning (though they were about 20 minutes later than they were supposed to arrive) and both women were very nice. I first showed them around the house so they knew what to bring in with them. They asked to use my vacuum so they wouldn't be bringing in pet dander from other homes, which I appreciated. Since the cleaning deal was for 2,500 square feet, the owner told me in advance that I would have to choose something that wouldn't be cleaned. I chose the basement, and that put us well below the 2,500-square-foot limit of the deal. The two women raced through our house (three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, office, family room and dining room) in about an hour and 15 minutes. They "took out the trash" by bagging it all up and handing it to me as they were leaving the house. They also failed to empty the bin on our vacuum, so I had to do that later. They gave me a couple of minutes to look around and make sure they hadn't missed anything before they left. It really wasn't enough time to thoroughly check things, but I noticed a couple things right away. They failed to sweep before they mopped, so the kitchen and dining room floors were still covered in crumbs and dirt particles that a mop just can't pick up. They also completely ignored the floor space under our portable (clearly on wheels) kitchen island. On further inspection, there were countless spots in our house that still had enough dust to show up on my finger when I ran it over the surface and the vacuuming job was mediocre at best, with tons of visible threads and other crumbs left on our rugs and carpet. I don't think they even attempted to pull out the vacuum's hose and work on either of our staircases as neither of them looked like they had even been touched. They spent a decent amount of time on the kitchen and bathroom, but the upstairs toilet still had cleaner that hadn't been scrubbed out of the bowl and the floor space behind the door was still covered in hair/dust. They did clean the microwave as promised, but they didn't touch a single window in our house (not to dust or clean the glass), which was promised in the deal. They also completely ignored the glass closet doors in all three of our bedrooms. My house was not a disaster. It just needed a good, thorough vacuuming, dusting and scrubbing in the kitchen/bath. There wasn't any trash or clutter to work around and there wasn't a great deal of "grime." I was thoroughly disappointed with this cleaning and will not be hiring them again or recommending them to anyone I know. They did what I would consider a "quick and dirty" cleaning, cleaning only the super-visible essentials. I was also frustrated that the owner took at least two personal phone calls while cleaning my house, the first immediately after arriving and while I was still trying to show them around the house and talk with them about what needed to be done. Before leaving, the owner offered me an estimate for future cleaning services. She gave me a discount because she said my house "wasn't dirty," but when it came in at $100 per week, I realized I had basically paid full price for a cleaning job that I could have done much better myself with a lot less hassle.
Description of Work: I had a LivingSocial deal for a standard cleaning for the entire house, up to 2,500 square feet, including inside windows. The deal promised to "damp-mop all hard floors, vacuum carpets, dust all surfaces, sanitize sinks, toilets, tubs, and counters, vacuum vent fans, and even scrub down your microwave oven."

Response from Rag Mop Cleaning
First, let me say that I cannot please everyone. Secondly this is why I will never run another coupon. Due to the number of coupons that were sold we did run over the expiration date. But, promised to honor the coupon which we did. The reschedule was due to me letting a key person go for theft. It was better to let her go and reschedule appointments than to bring a thef into someones home. Automatic text reminder messages are scheduled to go out a day ahead of time mid day. If it went out late I have no idea why. Yes, the text does say tips are aprreciated. For those of you that are not aware Living social takes half of the money. I get $50 and have to pay my help so most times I work for free or for what tips we get if any. Another reason why I will not run another coupon. Plus they charge me 3% for the consumer paying with a credit card. We cleaned the entire house there was no mention made of a basement. The house was a split level and we cleaned all three levels. Yes, 2 of us did clean the house in 1 hour and 15 minutes because for the most part the house was not dirty which is why I gave her a god deal on a quoted price for future cleanings. I am sorry if we forgot to empty the vaccuum. we always bag up the trash and ask where the garbage is to go if the client is at home. Most times we try to find the bins outdoors if we don't locate hem we take the garbage with us. We always ask the client to look around to make sure that we did not miss anything before we leave and we do not rush anyone. If we missed something this is the best time to correct it. The comsumer looked around while I waited at the front door and came back saying that it all looked good and handed me a tip. If the cconsumer noticed something right away she should have said something right then. Again the house was not dirty the floors were dry mopped and then damped mopped.Windows were not a part of the deal. I left a thank you card with our guarantee and said as we left to let us know if we missed anything. This is the first that I have heard of this. The proper way to handle this would have been to pick uo the phone and call and I would have made it right. We were not given that opportunity, I just get a notification of a posting from Angies list. Again, I offered a discount for weekly cleaning as the home was not dirty. there was other pricing listed for bi-weekly and monthly cleaning as well. As far as the phone calls go they were business calls and I had on a blue tooth and worked while I was talking as I do a lot. I will conclude with the fact that I have over 60 very happy clients that we clean on a regular basis. Yes, we are human and we make mistakes and if ever we miss soemthing they call and we go back and make it right. As I would have done in this case if I had been given the opportunity.

I originally found Rag Mop Cleaning on a deal a day website. The price sounded great compared to other services out there but I guess you get what you pay for. They showed up almost an hour late and didn't call to let me know until about 30 min after they were supposed to arrive. The owner was very nice and professional although I don't know that I can say the same about the other 2 girls. One stood outside smoking before she came in and the other didn't pay much, if any attention to detail. Once they got to work it took about 90 minutes to clean the home. The owner did an ok job on the kitchen but the other women didn't do a very good job on the upstairs and one even broke my shower door and said nothing about it. One of the women even lied to the owner about mopping the floor when it was quite obvious that it was never touched. Once they left, the closer I looked around the house the more I saw all the corners that were cut and everything that they didn't do. I just was not impressed and would not recommend the company no matter what the price.
Description of Work: They were supposed to do a one time deep cleaning of the house.
