After living in our home for over 20 years heavy rain coming off the roof had caused the terraced landscaping in front of the house to sink about a foot and the concrete terrace blocks were nowhere close to level. We had a landscape engineer look at it and he never got back to us. We had a concrete guy look at it and he never got back to us. Then we had Chris with Professional Contracting look at it. He said he believed he knew what to do, which was to build two parallel retaining walls. In addition the steps to our house had also sunk down nearly six inches. Chris proposed building new steps and a new sidewalk, as well as a front patio (where the bulk of the water was channeling off the roof) to direct the water away. He seemed confident and we felt like he knew what he was doing, so we hired him. He and his crew arrived when promised. Chris works very hard and implores his crew to do the same. As they were working we decided to add another small front patio and a large back patio and Chris and his crew adapted to this change without complaint or delay. If anything, the two retaining walls were overbuilt. When they were done Chris made sure the ground around the concrete work was properly sloped and they cleaned everything up. About five months later I noticed that the one retaining wall was moving, being pushed by the dirt it was supposed to be holding back. Chris came to look at it. Given that it was overbuilt, we were both very surprised that it would start to move. Chris took full responsibility. He and his crew came back and excavated the dirt from between the two walls and installed very heavy chains from the top of the one that was moving to the base of the other one, to prevent any more movement. Then they filled the dirt back in so that you could not tell they had been there again. Given our confidence in Chris at that point, while they were doing this repair we had them install another sidewalk. Chris did the repair work without any charge. Chris will tell you that he is not the cheapest, but that he will do the job right. We firmly believe that to be the case. The fact that he came and fixed the movement of the one retaining wall promptly, and at a significant investment of time by his crew, with NO charge to us, proves that he will do things right or he will fix it. It has now been two years since this work was done and everything is looking good. You can probably find someone to do concrete work for less but you will not find someone to do better quality concrete work and to guarantee the results.

Chris Hayes was prompt in getting me an estimate, his crew arrived on time,and worked extremely hard. Concrete craftsmen to be sure. When the job was finished, they took extra time to return my yard to almost its original state. No debris. They even raked the grass to fluff it up from wheel barrow tracks. AWESOME JOB!

Everything went smoothly and was fine in 1 day. Great finishing also. Everything was cleaned up and you'd never know they'd been here. Great service and price.

Excellent job from beginning to end. They laid down 130’ of plywood to run the skid loader from the road to the spot in the backyard. Only one small narrow rut/grass removed in the yard where the skid loader slid a board while turning the corner around the garage. I'd never ever think of complaining about that. Can't even imagine the number of trips made across those boards. 14 ton of dirt and around 4 yards of concrete was moved on those boards. Definitely impressed with over-excavating and compacting rock, great job vibrating the concrete which left very few noticeable air holes and putting on cure-n-seal when not asked. Great job on the finish and they removed the remaining plywood chips with a thatch rake leaving little to no signs they were even here.

We are so happy with the look of our new patios and the job completed. The team communicated well, were very friendly, answered all of our questions, and worked hard to complete our project. I would definitely recommend them for your concrete needs.

Wonderful. They came on time and finished in two days. They cleaned up along the new patio and sidewalk replaced grass to sidewalk and patio. We had no work to do except water the grass.

My husband and I came to the realization that we needed to replace our garage floor that had never been level, sloped to the center, and had deepening hazardous cracks. The asphalt drive also needed to be replaced. We used Angi, which is nice because you can see all of the reviews of each of the companies represented on the site. We chose 3 contractors for estimates. When Chris Hayes, the owner of Professional Contracting Iowa, showed up for the second estimate, we canceled the third one.. Chris was as impressive as were his dozens of 5 star reviews. Chris’s experience and expertise, and his communication skills to explain each problem and the best option for a quality and lasting fix, are top notch. I know nothing about construction and/or concrete, but Chris explained the replacement process well. My husband understands more as an architect, and was just as sold on Chris’s company. Chris’s crew was dealing with scattered rainstorms for a couple of weeks before our planned project, and we let him know that ours could be delayed if they needed to catch up. But his crew managed to make it on the scheduled day just several hours late. Bob, Mike and James arrived that afternoon and were professional, friendly, and focused on getting the garage floor and asphalt torn out so that they could pour the next day. But about 2 hours into the job, they discovered that they had not one, but 3 asphalt drives to tear out. The depth of the asphalt was 9 inches. That is a major deal since asphalt is more difficult to remove than concrete. At 6 pm, they had a total of 8 guys plus Chris working on the project until 9:30 pm. It was really hot, but all of them continued to have a positive attitude and were very friendly and courteous to any neighbors walking by. They were all coming back the next day at 7, but more rain delayed the start time until 10:30. They all worked very late again, but the pouring was done before they left! It is so refreshing to work with a contractor and crew that is responsive, dependable, and is interested in doing only high quality work. Nobody really wants to replace concrete drives or garage floors, but I am sure that when any of my neighbors have to do it, they will be calling me for the contact information for Chris and Professional Contracting iowa!

This is the 2nd time I've used professional contracting services and would use them again in a second Chris and his crew are top notch in every aspect of the job!!! 2 days for complete tear out and repour and they do a amazing clean up job,like they were never even there. Awesome Communication with no corners cut!! If you want a top notch drive way this is my Recommendation 1000% satisfied.

We were very impressed with the service. They were doing a driveway for a neighbor and I just asked about repairing a small section at the base of our driveway. They said it could be repaired and fixed it that afternoon. It looks great.

They were all so nice, arrived when they said they would, and worked diligently in very hot weather until the project was completed. We needed to have our driveway replaced. We chose PCWS based on Angi reviews and we are very glad we did. Chris came out and did the initial estimate and answered all our questions. We scheduled it for late May but they had an opening and worked us in early, which was much appreciated. Bob was our foreman and did an excellent job. He was very friendly and took time to explain what they were doing at various stages of the project. While preparing the base they pointed out some issues they thought should be corrected before installing the new driveway. We really appreciated that extra attention to detail. The finished product is excellent and so much stronger than the original. I have no reservations about recommending PCS and would be happy to hire them again if we need more work in the future.
