+ -1 moreFixed amazingly fast. Some wires were accidently disconnected by some contractors, and the electricians couldn't get it to run despite fixing the wires. The Modern Mechanical technician checks it over, realizes the problem ... and flips the resettable fuse in the furnace. Sometimes it takes intuitive problem solving to fix something easily and quickly--wish the electricians figured that out!

He was very patient with my questions and very timely in responding. They crews that sis the install was very professional and did a great job. All the paperwork, rebates etc were taken care of by the folks in the office. We couldn't by happier!

+ 0 moreOur furnace, AC, and water heater were all 20 years old and rather than keep throwing money in them each year we deciding to take the plunge and replace them all this year. After researching HVAC companies on Angie's List and other sites, I decided to get quotes from four companies and ultimately decided to go with Modern Mechanical which I am glad I did. Jake and his team were outstanding to work with from the initial bid process, to explaining the quote and answering questions, to the final install. Not only that, but the costs were on par or better than the 3 other companies I got quotes from and Modern Mechanical was by far the quickest to get back to me on scheduling the initial quote, coming out to my house to inspect my current system, getting back to me with the final quote, and coming out to install. I would absolutely recommend contacting them if you are looking for a new furnace, AC, and/or water heater!

+ -1 moreI contacted them Thursday to repair a leak in the A/C after they had installed a pump last summer to help with drainage. They actually offered to come out the next day. But, I had them wait until an early morning appointment so they did not have to suffer through the attic heat. So we scheduled a Monday morning appointment and they came right out and fixed it. These guys do a great job and are very responsive to communications. Everything flowed smoothly without anyone getting all hot and bothered. You will not have anything to vent about with these people, and they will not give you the freeze out.
Description of Work: Repaired a leak in the A/C unit in the attic.

+ -1 moreOur HVAC went down last night and upon discovering it we went to Angie's List and went down the list of top providers. Modern Mechanical was the 1st to actually pick up the phone and we were able to schedule time with a service technician (Chris) later in the afternoon. At about Noon, Chris contacted us and let us know he could be there early if that worked for our schedule. It did and he was able to get here two hours ahead of time. Chris showed up as promised and was able to diagnose the problem and perform the repairs quickly. Could not give a higher recommendation based upon my experience with Modern Mechanical today.

+ -1 moreFriendly and professional from start to finish. I got bids from over a dozen companies rated highly by Angie's list and did a lot of research for my heat pump replacement. Modern Mechanical was not the cheapest but was the best value and quoting experience. They deserve their rating. They took their time to listen to what I needed, make recommendations that would solve my issues, and explain why. They answered additional questions along the way, providing options and their opinions. They took the time to properly measure and calculate the tonnage that I needed (no one else did). They arrived on time, protected my house, took the time to install the equipment correctly and even went beyond the agreed upon job to remove an item that was no longer of use. Excellent Job all around. I have not had the best of luck in Des Moines with home service companies until now. Save yourself some time and give these guys a call.

His partner came back to help even though he had just lost a family member. They ask several times if I wanted something done different to just let them know. Description of Work: Modern Mechanical was a life-saver! Our air-conditioner decided not to run on the first 80-degree day of the Spring! Our chocolate lab was panting out of control. We had already scheduled Modern Mechanical for later that week to inspect our air conditioning for the season. My husband called them on 4/29 to ask if there was any chance they could move our date up, and explained it wasn't working. They said no problem, they would be there by the end of the day. We were so thankful! The tech showed up - I explained all that I had done to try to get the air turned on. He checked the thermostat, then headed for the basement. He was up & down the stairs and outside, multiple times - each time he would put his shoe coverings on. I told him, "You don't need to do that, you're just going from sidewalk to tile, to the basement." He said, "Oh , but I do! It's company policy." Then, as he was headed out the door again, he followed up with, "and, I own the company." My son and I were both very impressed!! He figured out the problem, fixed it. (It was a broken wire that had gotten squeezed between two parts when new duct work was added, earlier this year, by another company). He also replaced both furnace filters - free of charge - and the headed out to inspect the air conditioner! Both jobs took him a good couple of hours, and he still spent time explaining everything to me - when it was already way passed what should have been the end of his day. Amazing customer service, pride in his company and quality workmanship! I could not have been more pleased with the results and this surprising personalized service. We will definitely be loyal customers of Modern Mechanical!

+ 1 moreIt went well. The sales presentation was painless without any pressure.Jake did a great job helping us choose the equipment. He laid out serval options to choose from within our budget. We chose a communicating hybrid system from lennox and are glad we did. The installation took a full day. Tim and Troy seemed very efficient working together. They worked very hard. Troy even pointed out that our yellow gas line was not properly "bonded". They quickly bonded it at no charge to us. These guys definitely go the extra mile.
Description of Work: We had them install a lennox high efficiency furnace and noritz on-demand water heater. Jake sold us the products and helped us make a good decision. Tim and Troy did a great job installing the furnace and water heater.They removed the old stuff and didn't make a mess. They took 9.5 hours to complete.
