Dan Bailey (the owner) came to my house of 04/02/2014 and spent a little over an hour helping me order a new Dell computer online (charged me $116 for this visit). Dan then came back (after I had received my new computer), on 04/16/2014). Dan installed my new Dell computer, transferred all my data from the old computer to the new computer, and made sure both of my printers and scanner were working with the new computer. Dan spent approximately 3 1/2 hours installing the new computer, transferring data, and making sure everything was working properly before he left. The charge for the second visit to my home was $338. I have used Dan for 11 to 12 years now and have always been happy with his work. Dan knows what he is doing. Dan also is a personable fellow and has always been willing to answer any questions I have. I plan on using Dan, in the future, if I have any computer problems (that aren't covered by the 5-year warranty I purchased from Dell).
Description of Work: Helped me order a new Dell computer online and installed my new computer & transferred all data from my old computer to my new computer. Made sure my printers and scanner were working with the new computer.

The owner, Dan is a very nice man. I have no problem with him as a person. We had an appointment scheduled for setting up a new desktop PC for me to replace and older desktop PC which was still working, data transfer, etc. I purposefully made the appointment for 1 pm because I know computers well enough to know it could take a few hours. I was hoping on about 2.5-3 hours. It took 4 hours. And he still was not done after 4 hours. He sent me an email and said he was running behind about an hour. There was nothing I could do. He finally showed up at 2:30 pm.I was thinking, and quot;Oh no, now this will go into dinner time.and quot; Which it did. The first thing he did was turn off my TV, in the same room (which was muted) stating, and quot;I am easily distracted.and quot; That didn't give me a real good feeling. He started by hooking up the old and new computers and starting the data transfer, etc. He seemed to know what he was doing. I watched the whole time from another chair and gave him a chair to sit on. One thing I did not like was that his cell phone made noises the entire time he was here. Email noise, phone calls, texts. All different sounds. What I liked even less was that he took some of the calls - and I was paying for that chat time. Very few people who come here to work answer their phones. Dan felt it necessary to answer some of the calls. His wife was supposed to be taking calls from home, but he said when she got busy it forwarded to him. Well, I thought, and quot;Let it go to voice mail then!and quot; I never said that, but I was thinking it. Then about an hour after he had been here he said he needed to eat - he is diabetic, and needed a snack he said. He went to his bag and got out cheese, crackers, etc. and ate while he worked. I have diabetics in my family. They plan things out so they do not have to do this kind of thing unless it is a real emergency. I thought this was uncalled for and probably unnecessary from a medical point, since Dan looked to not be in any physical discomfort at all. But again, of course I said nothing. He continued to work, running into a few issues as we continued, but I thought he got everything OK, except when 5:45 or 6 PM came, he announced he had a meeting at 7 pm (his wife had called and reminded him). I knew we were not through. He said he could finish up later in the week when he was to install extra memory also. I was not real pleased with that, but of course I had no choice. He came back later in the week and put in the extra memory and was not here very long. That was on a Friday. And because he was here on a Friday, and he did NO work (replied to emails or voice mails) on the weekends, over the weekend, when I had serious problems with the computer and called him and emailed him, I got no reply. I ended up giving the computer to someone close to me who took it on Saturday. and went all over it very carefully. We don't know all that might have been wrong, but one thing we know was the memory Dan put in was bad, and also the tech said he would have put it in different slots; so it was removed. Since then the computer has worked fine. I took the memory back to get a refund, since Dan had bought it. He did not return my emails or phone calls from Friday. On late Tuesday night I wrote him a and quot;strongand quot; email. I told him he needed to call me ASAP to refund money and pick up the bad memory, and I voiced my unhappiness with his lack of response. The next morning (Wed) he emailed and apologized, and said he would arrange to get the memory and refund my money for that. While he was here the first long visit he told me about how many dentists and and quot;officesand quot; he does and quot;large jobsand quot; for in his business. I am sure it costs them thousands for his work and time. If he prefers to do that, versus working for homeowners and smaller jobs, I think he should say so on his web site. I would bet if one of them emailed or called him on the weekend, he would reply! He only has one other worker who helps him. My opinion is he knows what he is doing, but he is not well organized and he charges a lot for what he does, including snacks and answering the phone. I am very happy with the new company and that owner I found. I will not be hiring Dan's company company again, even if it is an emergency. I learned an expensive lesson. Just as a comparison, the man who took my computer to his store when I could not get Dan to respond did everything Dad did and more. He only charged me a total of $225., which included delivering it back to me and setting it all up!
Description of Work: Set up my new computer, transfer data from old computer, etc.
