Gene listened to what I needed to have done, and rather than take my money and attempt to do it himself, he referred me to someone else who would be better suited for the job. Couldn't ask for a more professional response.

Gene was responsive and professional. I really appreciated that he clearly explained what he observed and offered suggestions that I might do to correct some things. I asked him if he could also recommend the things that need immediate attention and the things that could wait. His estimate included exactly what I asked for. My situation changed, and I'm unable to pursue a plan at this time. I am definitely interested is working with him in the future.

It was okay. I didn't know exactly what it was going to involve and after we kind of questioned and it ended up that my husband had to call somebody else. Somebody had to do the inspection and then they said all they would do was recommend a lab and so the lab turned out to be him and we paid $130. So it was kind of shaky to me and in essence the same guy that came out to say we needed a lab turned out to be the one who did the lab. They said that we had mold in the basement but we had to have somebody take it down to see how bad the mold is and we've had too much going and we haven't really done anything about that yet. They responded real quick.

After going through our home he said he didn't see anything that would be a sign of either mold or mildew. He made comments on what we were doing right to prevent it such as boxes and other items in basement up off the floor on pallets, and the way we have our basement ventilated. I asked about other testing and he said they do provide it at extra cost, but did not see any reason for doing and further testing. I really appreciated this as especially since I was asking about it...he could have very easily said "sure" and sold us a few hundred dollars of testing we did not need and that would really give us no further information. I am very pleased with Gene and feel like he is a VERY honest businessman.

I had been having issues with my battery powered Basement Watchdog backup sump pump continually beeping and bought the $49 on Angie's list. They came out looked it over and called the manufacturer who said the charger was bad and it would be under $50 for a new one.

I sent a msg to him. He called me back within half hour. I explained my situation. I wasn't ready for his work yet. But he gave me some phone numbers and that really helped.

I sent Gene a question via Angieslist Saturday afternoon and within 2 minutes he replied and said he'd call me. I was leaving in about an hour for an appointment so he offered to come over right away instead of scheduling for another day. He reviewed the issue and said it wasn't mold but got a moisture detector from his truck to double check (it was dry). I really appreciated how responsive he was and the peace of mind he gave me that it wasn't mold. If I run into issues down the road, I will give him a call!

Work was done on time. The enclosure could have been done better. One side was not completely fitted like it was before being taken down. You can hardly tell and it's in the closet, so I don't mind so much. If it was somewhere more noticeable, than I would have been most unhappy.

At first we thought there was a leak in the foundation requiring basement water proofing. It turned out that there was a pipe leaking behind the wall in a basement room. After doing demolition on the first day of work, air scrubbers and dehumidifiers were setup in the basement and main floor to contain any airborne mold and dry out the damaged area. Those were left in place for a week. A mold abatement substance was also applied to the problem areas at the same time. The leak had caused the sub-flooring in the affected room to rot and disintegrate. It was also discovered after pulling up the carpet that the builder had used a sub-standard sub-flooring material (MDF) in the entire basement. We decided it was best to completely replace it all since there were other affected areas of rotted sub-flooring in the basement. I later added a long list of other repairs to the contract to replace screen doors and a few other things around the house and garage. Gene Maire was great to work with and was patient with all the additional things I added to the list of repairs in my home. The work was complete way before my expectations, 2 months from first estimate, and was of good quality. They left the site clean. Each time I added something new to the repair list, he was very prompt with sending a revised and reasonable estimate for the work. I would highly recommend Iowa Home Restoration and Repair, Gene and his crew to anyone needing any kind of repairs on their home but especially if you have a basement water proofing issue in your home. Gene was honest in his assessment of the problems, kept me up to date and sent pictures of newly found issues. He was professional to work with. He instilled a sense of trust when I first met with him which is why I chose his company over a cheaper competitor.

It went great! Over the past winter, we discovered mold growing in our attic. We determined the mold was caused by moisture getting into our attic, and then condensing on the cold northern slope of our roof. We wanted to ensure that the mold growing in the attic had not found its way into our bedrooms. We found the company through Angie's list, made contact with the company, and Gene contacted me. I explained our situation, and he explained the services he would provide as well as the cost. We scheduled the appointment for a Saturday afternoon. Gene was prompt and professional upon arrival. He set up his equipment, and ran the air sample. He documented the process with his camera, making note of the time and sample numbers etc. The test lasted 10 min. He then went outside and performed the same test/process to establish a control sample, in order to compare the air in the house with the air outside of the house. While I do understand the importance of this process, it does double the cost ($100 for each sample). Gene did let me know all of this before agreeing to provide the testing. He called as soon as he had the results back from the lab to explain the results, and also e-mailed me the results from the lab detailing the test results. We were extremely satisfied with the test, and it was worth the piece of mind knowing that we would not need to perform further mold remediation. I would recommend these services to anyone looking for the same testing.

He used this oxidation or whatever process. It had to be out of the 4 days before I could move in. It was relatively good. He was great to work with. He has said he would come in and give it one more blast. He is excellent! I really like him. The effectiveness of the treatment has been so-so. It's 80% better. I haven't talked to him but he called me to see. He said he could get it one more time whatever that means. He came and inspected my new home. That's how I got to meet him. I had another company come out and give an estimate at $6000. So price wise he was much better. He started the treatment on 31st of May, that's the day I closed on my house. So he got in at 8 o' clock that day. He worked over, they did everything on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and then I was able to move in on Tuesday morning. He did the best that he could.

It went well. They gave me an estimate and followed through on it. They completed the work on time and got clearance testing. I was happy with the work they did.

They were real good. They were courteous. They were real quick. The pricing was right. It was the guy and his group of people who painted the house on the outside; it was wintertime. They did a good job.
