The staff was very polite and professional when I called. We set up a time for them to work on the garage door that very evening. They were very apologetic when they called to inform me that their worker couldn't make it to my house due to heat exhaustion. The next day Steve called to let me know he was on his way and arrived quickly. Steve was very professional and friendly. He replaced the springs and the wiring when the garage door wasn't working properly. The wiring was done at no extra cost. Steve was very efficient and the garage door works great now. I was not charged the Labor Charge since they didn't come as originally scheduled. Only time will tell of the quality of the parts they replaced, but for now I am VERY impressed and happy with this company.

Replaced the garage door opener on a really hot day. Did a professional job in a quick time. Gave me some choices on openers and did not charge for some options.

Hicklin was on time, courteous and very helpful...my husband asked them about replacing a few other parts; when they quoted a price that was more than we wanted to pay, he asked them if they thought he could do it himself - they told him what parts to buy. Hopefully, my husband's quality of work is as good as Hicklin's!! We would definitely use them again.

I contacted the owner via email on Sunday night and had a response within thirty minutes. Within ten minutes on Sunday night they had scheduled a tech to come out on Monday morning and they were completed by 11 AM. Outstanding service and highly recommended.

They were very efficient and polite. They got the job done quickly. They were very helpful.

Now I know they have the coupon for the service call, I will take advantage of that. In fact they are coming tomorrow to repair the spring that I would have had them fix last week. Great service. Lucky Husband.

confusion on correct door caused late arrival. initial installation was questionable until installers reluctantly changed. field supervisor did follow up and make sure issues resolved.

Technician called ahead and arrived within minutes of the estimated time. He confirmed the work to be done. Immediately went to work and was finished in less time than estimated. Everything works properly. He left the premises clean and neat. The invoice was exactly as quoted. All-in-all a completely satisfactory experience.

They were respectful of my home and communicated well with me. It was kind of expensive, but they got the job done. They are on Angie’s List. They added a service charge fee on there, but their Angie’s List version says that they do not charge a service charge fee, and I had to call them back four times before someone finally mailed me a check for the difference. It was kind of frustrating, and I wasn’t totally happy about that. Their initial response coming to fix the garage door was good, but the responsiveness on refunding my service charge was terrible. They showed up on time. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

WHEN THE INSTALLER ARRIVED,WE WERE TOLD THAT HE HAD BEEN GIVEN THE WRONG INFORMATION REGARDING THE DOOR SIZES.HE THEN HAD TO GO BACK TO HIS WAREHOUSE & GET THE CORRECT OPENERS & RETURN.WHEN HE RETURNED,HE EXPLAINED TO ME WHY NEW OPENERS WERE NEEDED,WHY HE WAS USING THE BRAND HE HAD,& SOME INFO. ON MAINTAINING THE NEW OPENERS.OVERALL,I WAS SATISFIED WITH THE QUICK INSTALLATION TIME & THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT.THE ONLY NEGATIVE ASPECT WAS AFTER HE LEFT I FOUND SEVERAL BOLTS,SCREWS,& NUTS ON THE GARAGE FLOOR WHERE I PARK MY TRUCK.IF I HADN'T SEEN THEM,I'M SURE I WOULD HAVE DEALT WITH A FLAT TIRE OR TWO.

Installer was prompt and friendly. The job was done very quickly and the installer knew exactly what he was doing. He was very organized and quick. The job was finished in a little over half the time that I was told at the time of job quote.

I called at 7:30 AM and had a service person at our home at 10 AM. The work was performed quickly and efficiently (all the parts needed were on board the repair persons truck). Used the Angie's list coupon and got the service call discount ($40). We have 3 overhead doors, so I'm sure we will be using Hicklin's again.

Based on the Angie's list ratings, we called Hicklin. To be fair, they made an immediate appointment and arrived when promised. But then the games started. First, it turns out they offer three "levels" of residential garage door springs, with different warranties. And the price for the spring and associated hardware, alone, at the "basic" level (with only a 90 day warranty) was more (by a substantial margin) than any amount we have paid for having a new spring installed in the past. Labor was added on top of the price for the spring, making the total cost about 40% more than we have paid in the past. Second, the repairman started trying to "upsell" other hardware for our garage doors -- new rollers, etc. And finally, when it became clear we were only going to buy the basic spring replacement, he told us there would also be a "service call" charge. When we pointed out that Hicklin's yellow pages ad specifically said there was no service call charge if we elected to purchase services (and we had already told him we would buy the basic spring replacement), he acted like he'd never heard of that and said that we would have to show him the ad (right -- the employees don't know that the company's huge, half-page yellow pages ad promises no "service call" charge with purchase -- sure they don't). All the way around, we came away feeling that we'd paid too much, gotten too little (a 90 day warranty on a $180 door spring installation?), and only avoided an unjustified "junk charge" by being alert and assertive.

Great experience and we will definitely use Hicklin doors again.

called for quote and was told it would be around $100 for the service call and replacement cables. When the tech came out he told me that the springs HAD to be replaced as well, because if they weren't they would break when rewound. I was a little disappointed to hear it was going to cost 3x more than I had planned for, but he cut me a "deal" and said he gave me the good springs (lifetime warranty) for the same cost as the cheap ones, (90 day warranty. Tech seemed like a good guy and we chatted while he worked. All in all, it was a quick fix, he was efficient, and I wasn't charged any more than the TECH quoted me at.

It went very well. Gave a window from 9-11 am for both the estimate day and the install day. Arrived 10-15 minutes earlier than 9 on both days. Jake gave me the estimate. He was friendly and helpful. I felt like I got the best deal he could offer. Shane was the installer. He was also friendy and professional. Complete take down of old system & door plus new install took less than 2 hours. Everything cleaned up & hauled away. Love my new door & opener! Makes my house look sooo much better!

They came out immediately which was great. I didn't feel trapped in my house too long.

The guy who installed it was not the most professional and made some mistakes, but every time we needed something, Tim was great and they were out the same day...no charge!

They did the work in a timely fashion. They did a good job. I'm not sure how the price compares to the competition. They were there when they said they were going to be.

Lightning fried my Chamberlain garage door opener's logic board -- it was either replace the board for $180 and a two-week wait for the board, or buy a new garage door opener. I chose the Liftmaster Professional Formula 1model with belt drive and 5-year warranty, so it was pricey -- and it didn't include a new wireless remote (which would have cost another $50). However, the price above included replacing my old rollers with neoprene rollers. Installer Shane arrived before noon within the scheduled 11 - 1 time slot) and was professional.

They are very quick to come out and finish the work. I have used them a couple of times. They bring the parts with them so that they can fix the problem faster.

After looking for a vendor on Angie's List I called and explained that my 6 year old opener was not closing the door. I also explained my scheduling constraints. The company indicated that they would have a service technician at my home between 1 and 3 pm. The tech repaired the mechanism better than it had been originally installed. Within 3 hours of calling for service the work was completed.

Contacted Tim and he was cordial and professional - had somebody out that afternoon to take a look at my door problem. That person (Chuck) was well trained and diagnosed the problem right away. He went through the options and once I decided the direction - he came back the next day and installed the parts. He even programmed the homelink function in my Toyota so it would open the garage door. This experience was outstanding.

A-1 American provided great service. They had a technician to me the same day, a Saturday, that I called. He arrived within the window that the call was scheduled and was fast and professional.
