The installation was great, they came the next day after my heat went out (I have a small baby) and installed a new furnace. Here is where the bad part begins; I was told I would receive a rebate from mid american energy is 6-8 weeks from installation for the furnace and programmable thermostat ($925 rebate). Week 8 passes, I think ok maybe they are backed up. Week 9 passes and still no rebate so I call the office at 515-282-7086 and they said she would check into it and call me back. 3 days pass and still no return call so I call office again and the lady that was suppose to be working on it is gone and I could call mid american for any info on it. So I call Mid American and they have NO RECORD of any rebate information being submitted. I try calling office again it was after business hours and choose the option to leave a message with Craig who is the owner, yet you cannot leave a message because the mailbox is full. Whats the point of having that option if you cant do it? I call office next day and asked what the status is and to have craig call me, they assure its being taken care of and that they will have craig call me. I do this song and dance 3 times over the next week and a half with no call from Craig. Finally one of the receptionists says that craig is the only one who can do the rebates, because past employees who were in charge of doing them are no longer with the company. Since when is that the customers problem? This is probably the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. From being lied to on the phone, to a owner who fails to do what was promised or to ensure it is done by someone else as well as neglecting to return my calls.

We were embezzled from and I was tring to do everything I could to get threw this extremely unforeseen and baffling situation. I then had to move my shop across the street to our other building to save on overhead. We are settled in and working hard to make sure that this never happens again. I am sorry we let you down and I am glad that you finally got the rebate that you were promised. You are right that it is not your fault or worry. Service itself was great. However, the day we were scheduled for our appointment, the company was suffering from computer problems. I'm not sure I would have gotten service had I not called to check on our appointment. Our appointment was scheduled for 9:00 am, technician did not arrive until around 1:00 pm. I had to call 2-3 times for confirmation that someone would be coming. Once I was told I would receive a call back with updated information, but this call did not happen. The second time I called and requested a call to know when a technician would head our way. This time the call came as requested. Once the tech arrived, our service was great and the tune up went very well. I would try them again, but I'll be honest- the computer issues and communication concerns do make me a little wary. Hoping this isn't a trend for this company that does great work! UPDATE: I'm writing because upon recent review of financial documents, it has come to my attention that after purchasing a furnace tune-up package via Angie's List from this company, I was charged $50.55 at at the date of service.I believe this was an error due to the fact that the "Big Deal" we purchased stated that the service would cost $48, not $98.55. I have tried to contact the company twice in writing/email in order to rectify this situation; however, I have yet to get a response.

SO WE SET THE DAY FOR THE SERVICE BUT THEY WOULD NOT GIVE A TIME THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO CALL ME WHEN HE IS ON HIS WAY WHICH I SAID WAS OK JUST REMEMBER TO BE THERE BY 1PM OR BEFORE .SO I RECEIVED A CALL ON THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT ABOUT 1: 30 PM SAYING HE WAS'NT ABLE TO MAKE IT.TO START WITH THEY CALLED PAST THE LATEST TIME I COULD STAY TO SAY THEY ARE NOT COMING SO I STAYED HOME OVER HALF A DAY FOR NOTHING. BUT I GIVE THEM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT & MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT WEEK & TOLD THEM THE SAME CONDITION APPLIES, BE THERE BY 1PM OR BEFORE. APPARENTLY THEY THINK ALL WE HAVE TO DO ALL DAY IS WAIT ON THEM & THEY MUST THINK ITS OK TO NOT HONOR YOUR COMMITMENTS. SCHEDULING WAS MADE FOR A REASON,TRY USING IT. This job was done about 1 1/2 years ago, finally getting sitting down to submit a review now. They did a great job overall. They showed up on time and were very courteous and patient. They were in my my parents' home for a total of about 8 hours and were extremely kind to my elderly father. My dad's the type of guy to stick around while the work is being done to oversee, learn the process, ask questions, and just understand how everything goes together - you know the type of guy. The 2 technicians were friendly and didn't mind my father hanging around them the whole time, and they took the time to explain each step and what they were doing. This goes above and beyond the expectations of a technician - so kudos for that. My only complaint is I wish the guys would've cleaned up after themselves. There was still snow on the ground outside. I stopped by my folks house after work and noticed mud/dirt on the floors tracked down to the basement - all over the place. This could've been easily avoided if the guys would've just spent a few minutes with a shop vac and a broom. Or worn protective gear over their shoes inside the house. I was not happy with the mess they left. My biggest compliment for DM Heating & Cooling is their follow-through with their promises. They promise a free tune-up per system, for a year. Keep in mind, the furnace/AC has been installed for 1 1/2+ years at this point. Now we're in the autumn season and I had forgotten to schedule the free furnace tune-up. I thought since we're 1 1/2 years out, that offer is no longer valid and I was about to pay someone else to do it. Lo and behold, I got a call from DM Heating & Cooling this morning reminding me that I still have a free furnace tune-up that they owe me. Nice!
Description of Work: I had them replace and install a high-efficiency furnace and A/C system in my parents' home.

The company was great to work with. We had several contractors bid our job (install new gas furnace, central a/c, and water heater). They showed up on time, cleaned up after themselves and were very willing to talk to us (the homeowners) throughout the installation process.

Selected DSM Heating and Cooling using Angie's List reviews. I am not sorry I did. Initial call to office staff was courteous and helpful. A tech came out on a Friday and examined our 15 year old system and offered a reasonable repair price for the A/C unit. We asked for an estimate on a new Lennox system and received (during the same visit) three prices for Lennox high-efficiency systems ("good", "better", "best") with explanations of features and MidAmerican rebate final cost implications. The system we selected was installed the next Monday by a very knowledgable, courteous, and hard-working crew. Even the owner (Craig Beveridge) showed up to make sure all was going to our satisfaction. Within a few days they were back to do the SAFE certification (required for maximum rebates). All went well. We are enjoying great A/C and fully expect to be pleased with our new hi-efficiency furnace this fall and winter. (BTW, cost shown is pre-rebates)

They were honest about their services and did a great job. No BS. Didn't promise anything they couldn't do. When asked if they could provide a better model/unit they were honest about positives and negatives of higher end unit. Did not try to upsell me or bait/switch. Very satisfied with their service and efficiency. This can be a very sleazy business with lots if crooks (frankly). These guys are a breath if fresh air - the owner takes personal accountability for each customer sale and experience. I would highly recommend.

It was a very positive experience. I could not give an overall grade of an A since it took 3 weeks to get the work done, with 4 visits and 4 crew members. I did get a whole lot done on my home for $200. I would refer them to anyone.

Des Moines Heating & Cooling was highly responsive. My central air went out and their service tech was at my home with two hours of my phone call. He quickly assessed the problem and explained it to me with an appropriate level of detail. He stayed and we discussed options and he contacted the owner to review with me. Pricing was provided while on the phone. I decided to explore replacement beyond the AC and all of this was priced immediately. The next day the four-man crew showed up and completed all three replacements before 4 pm. They were all professional, good communicators and did a great job. I am extremely particular about my home and I was very pleased with their work. I will highly recommend Des Moines Heating & Cooling to friends and neighbors.

I got home from work and our A/C was not working, I called and left a VM after hours, and received a phone call back that evening and scheduled someone to come out and look at. The service man was there bright and early as planned, looked at the unit and decided the fan was bad, he did not have our specific fan with him so he went back to the shop to look into it. I received a call from the shop that the part was in stock and was given a quote. The service man returned that afternoon, installed the fan and the other item, I think it was called a capacitor, by then I'd left and my husband was home. The invoice to my husband was exactly what I was quoted and when we got home from our errands the house was a very comfortable 72 degrees! Will certainly continue to use Des Moines Heating & Cooling for our future Heating & A/C needs!

It went really well and we were pleased with the service. They were really prompt. We made the appointment and had to wait a week because it is their busy season. They arrived very well and did the service. They were conscientious about our home and did it. It was a good experience.

They came out when they said they would and did what they said they could do. They gave me an estimate but weren't able to fix what was wrong. They pretty much did what they were supposed to do as far as I can tell. They were very professional.

He was excellent. He put the furnace in and there was something wrong with it and instead of just messing with it, they just put a whole new furnace. The staff were very nice people and really knowledgeable. I got to talk to the owner because the furnace had a leak and there was water in my basement and ruined my carpet and the owner showed up and fixed the problem. For the quality of the furnace I got, I think I got a heck of a good deal. It's the top of the line furnace. It's unbelievably quiet. They went way beyond everybody who gave me service. They were unbelievable.
