The installers arrived on time, did the removal of the old unit and installation of the new unit, tested the new unit, carefully explained how the new thermostat works, cleaned up thoroughly, and left. Bell Brothers completed the Mid-American rebate application and sent it along with the bill.

+ -1 moreThere were two guys, One came and finished up for the other because he had a sick wife. You pay for what you get. You could go and get one for a cheap price but I am not sure what kind of quality you would get. I do not worry about them coming into my home.

+ -1 moreI have used them for the last 25 years. I have service with them twice a year, one for my heating and another time for my cooling. They have always been great, that's why I stay with them. I have a maintenance contract. It usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour. They are professional.
Description of Work: I use Bell Brothers for heating and air conditioning service. They do my normal maintenance and they installed my unit three or four years ago.

+ -1 moreThey had been servicing our stuff for years. We had a 40 year old air conditioner that they replaced. With the furnace, that was the 3rd furnace in our house. We found out we had a bad heat exchange during a service inspection. It was over 20 years old. The quality of service was excellent. They came out as soon as they could. It could not have been done any faster. There are other heating and air conditioner companies in Des Moines but I have not used anyone else for years.

They had installed the unit and yet when service had not been done for several years according to their records (mine too) & they were called by a new owner to service an operating system they failed to send the technician with the appropriate air filter???? Sad lack of foresight? A costly offer to have a filter delivered immediately? A length trip to town for a filter at their shop at rush hour?

+ -1 moreI can now feel confident that heating system is realible and will not fail even in the coldest weather.
Description of Work: We have a very complex boiler that was giving us intermittent problems and finally quit firing altogether. The technician reveiwed the notes made by the technician on a previous visit and proceeded to evaluate and diagnose the problem. He found a loose electrical connection and was able to get the boiler to fire. Not satisfied with the apparent solution he proceeded to continue testing and discovered a low gas pressure reading, made a simple adjustment on the regulator to bring the pressure back into the required range, and the boiler has worked great to this day.

Bell Brothers came out, explained our option, and guided us toward an option that wasn't necessarily the most expensive. Their installers were good at what they did, and they didn't leave our home or yard a mess. We would absolutely hire them again.

+ -1 moreIt was under warranty and we just had to pay for some warranty. We are on a contract where they come out twice a year to check it out. I have used them for the whole time we have been here about 12 years.
Description of Work: I use Bell Brothers. They come out every spring and fall to look at the heating and air conditioning. They replaced the blower last fall and they installed it.

+ -1 moreIt went great. Initially was only going to have two supply runs replaced but Tom, on inspecting the ductwork did three. His sheet metal work is awesome! Also the dryer vent looks great. He had to go through brick to install it and it took quite some time to get the hole drilled.
Description of Work: Replaced corroded ductwork on furnace on three supply runs. Also installed a dryer vent.

Apparently the Salesman decided he could not overcharge me enough, so it was not worth it. VERY DISAPOINTING FOR A COMPANY I HAD USED IN THE PAST.

+ -1 moreI received a quote last year from Evan S. and Bell Brothers and I called them a call on Monday the 18th to see if the estimate was still good. There was a little increase in price, but the rebates increased so not much changed. I mentioned that my house was 88 degree at some point yesterday and he said he can get a crew out that next day to install. The crew showed up at 8:30, right on time, and told me they would be done around 3:00. I received a call from the guys at 2:45 saying they were done. I met them at my house and they walked me through everything and answered any questions I had. I would definitely recommend Bell Brothers to any one and I would use them again.

+ -1 moreInstead of telling me I needed a new furnace, they did a lot of repair work on the old one. I wish they'd told me upfront that I'd have to just get a new one, since the old one was too old to be repaired. It would have more cost-effective. One of the techs was kind of rude. They had to come out several times for the same thing and I had to fuss to get them to use a new part. I did get a discount on the price. I'll be using them until my warranty is done on the furnace.

+ -1 moreTo get things done, it was a struggle. Apparently this is normal in that neighbors had a similar problem with the obstinance of the company. It all worked until about 3 weeks ago when the furnance started getting louder. Now I have a 3rd fan that has broken. Service Legends is doing the work and they are professionals. Bell Brothers can't figure out why it's like this sine, "I am the only one on earth having this problem". My suggestion is not to get a Carrier.
Description of Work: The main motor and fan unit were replaced on a 5 year old furnace. The president of the company blamed me for the broken parts in that I used a MR 5 filter which he said put too much pressure on the fan and motor. The specifications called for a filter opening more than 20% larger than what they provided for. An actual static test on the filters revealed that the higher pass filter only raised static pressure by less than 1 tenth of a foot pound. After the fan and the motor were replaced I had mentioned that the furnace needed more air coming in or else the same thing would happen again. Finally the salesman arranged for the installation of more duct work to carry more air. That lasted less than 3 years. Today the fan is broken again and the only thing Bell Brothers can say is, It came from Carrier. I guess Carrier makes furnaces that are designed to last less than 7 years.
