Description of Work: They were supposed to refinish hardwoods and install trim. They started two days late on what was to be a three day job. After day 17, with the job poorly, and only partly, done, I fired them. He was poor with communication, the services were substandard, and I would not recommend this vendor. This is the first time in 25 years as a homeowner that I have ever fired anyone off of a job.

Joe did not come or call the date he agreed to start which made the contract void. He apologized when he sent someone out two days later to start. Because there were dog stains in the wood, he had me go to his flooring supply provider to pick up different sandpaper for the job. He said he wouldn't charge extra to take care of the stains if he could use the photos to show other customers. He was supposed to take four days to do the job, but after 17 days we finally fired him. He did one small area in front of our bathroom door three times, and we finally told him to leave when they failed to take off the quarter round leaving stain all over it, had bubbled poly because they did not wipe the floor before finishing it, and did a terrible job with the quarter round he cut in our living room. He cut everything at 45's, did not measure anything, and nothing matched up. He brought a dremmel sander to try to fix it. It was a ridiculous mess. The day I fired him, he demanded payment. He took off a whopping fifty dollars for the mess he left us to fix. I will never use this vendor again and would not recommend him to my worst enemy.
Description of Work: Joe came out the day after we called to give an estimate to refinish approximately 450 square feet of wood floor. He said he could start the floor just a few days later.

re unexpected scraping.Joe came out the same day I called him to give an estimate. The job was to be done in 2 phases. The first week, the south side of the building ,the second week the north side. I was responsible for the moving of the furniture, and the replacing of the the furniture.Any repairs to the floors were to be added to the estimate, since some of the floors were glue down carpet. The contracted had a begin date and an end date. The first day (Wed.) he was scheduled to start, they did not arrive until after noon. They stayed less than 2 hours to remove carpet. The carpet was glued down, I was notified scraping would be an extra, which I agreed to. Thursday and Friday his employee did not come to work. very little scraping was done.Work proceeded at a very slow pace. The first phase was supposed to be completed in one week. It was 10 days before we could move the furniture back and clear the other half of the apartment. The second phase went slower than the first. No one showed up to work, more unexpected scraping. It was finally done 3 weeks after started.I know part of the delay was because of the extra scraping, and some of the repairs, and the fact it was a hundred and twenty years old. Most of the delay was caused by nobody showing up to work, or when they were there they stayed a couple of hours and left. I know when the coating was being done, they would be in and out between coats for drying. Over all the finished product is good. I would have been alot happier if it was completed on time. I would use Joe again, but I would have a penalty inserted in the contract if he did not complete the job by the time he indicated in his contract.
Description of Work: Joe pulled up old carpet, sanded floors, repaired and refinished floors. There was approx 1200 sq ft.
