Description of Work: The Gentleman was to meet me at a certain time, he received another call for which he HAD to go to before they closed, he then came back to see me (only after several calls to him) he was out-of-town; but he DID meet with me and was Very Cordial and appologized for me having to wait on him. |He did a complete tour of my basement and gave me an estimate right there. |Would use this Company when the time comes (felt the Estimate was a little too high)!

Description of Work: On Friday, April 12, 2012, I called or contacted through their website, four companies listed on Angie's list to get estimates. Absolutely Dry Basement Waterproofing did not return our call until Wednesday, April 24. We already signed an agreement with another company that came out the next business day, Monday, April 15. If a company cannot return call a call for new business, what type of service would they provide?

Response from Absolutely Dry Basement Waterproofing
I am very sorry for the long delay in returning your phone call. We have an answering service take our calls and during this time we had problems with them getting us all of our leads. Although our phone call was extremely delayed, we still wanted to follow through.

Absolutely Dry Basement (ADB) gave me a decent quote (I thought) on putting an interior perimeter system in my basement to keep my basement dry. Cost was $4300 for 720SF with sump pump and battery back up. When I initially met with Steve (assistant) and Paul (owner), both were very friendly and helpful. Explained the process and answered all my questions. I agreed to have the work done and was put on the schedule. I was told by Steve that work would begin between 8:30am and 9am that day, but the crew showed up at 7am. I'm not used to people being early! Jackhammers at 7:15am was...well, loud. Not a problem though, just wasn't ready. According to Steve (the assistant), work was completed that day around 1pm. So six hours to jackhammer all the concrete around the inside of my basement walls, put in perfed drain tile, cover with rock, cement over, install sump pump and battery backup. Faster than I thought. I could have sworn Steve said the process would take two days. But I was impressed it was done so quickly. I knew the floors would be a mess when I came home, but I wasn't expecting the rest of the mess. We had covered everything in the basement with plastic sheeting, but not the walls nor stairs. The walls were a mess and my stairs were covered in concrete chunks. Both had to be repainted, costing me $40 and taking about 4-5 hours of my time. I couldn't believe how messed up my stairs were. The owner later told me they had no way to cover or protect the stairs, but I wonder what they do in the case of someone with carpeted stairs? The walkthrough was done with Steve two days later, at which time payment was expected. Steve showed up on time and did the walkthrough. I pointed out my concerns (dirty walls, ruined stairs and a concrete anchor that held the PVC pipe running out of the house) and Steve was very dismissive of my problems. He attempted to pull out the concrete anchor, saying it wasn't really needed. He said he would send his crew over to clean up. Overall, his attitude was unpleasant and he seemed annoyed at my concerns. Like I said, I expected the floor to be a mess (I've done concrete work before), but I was a little taken aback by the mess left behind by the crew. Other minor annoyances included: gloves left behind, large piece of perforated pipe left behind, mask left behind, PVC pipe running out of the house wasn't sealed properly (looks like it was, then it was shoved further out), screen on window not replaced (left in yard), hose extension on outside of house should have been clamped and the sump pump cover had been cut (poorly) to accommodate a mis-placed pipe. I'll admit, I'm a little OCD about things being done in my house. Especially when I'm spending that kind of money. I expected less of a mess than what I found. I expected the work to be a little neater. I called Steve after the walkthrough and complained about his attitude and said I wanted a call from Paul (the owner). Paul called me back and came over. He cleaned up my stairs and walls the best he could. Apologized for any misunderstanding on Steve's part. Paul is a great guy to deal with and while I understand HIS point of view (said there is no way to keep the stairs clean, said the concrete anchor really wasn't needed) I felt more like he was making excuses rather than accommodating my needs. I come from an industry/company where you make things right for the customer, not make excuses. However, I was content with Paul's help and his willingness to come out and address my concerns. It's obvious his customer service skills are mostly intact. :) I think the whole process would have been less frustrating if I had just dealt with Paul. So, what about the basement waterproofing? That's the most important part, right? We had this work done in the spring of 2010 and so far, no water. We've had two instances (09/26/11 and spring 2012) with water leaking from the corner of the house, but our downspout had been knocked off. That being said, the waterproofing system should have been able to handle that.
Description of Work: Basement waterproofing of entire 720SF basement with sump pump with battery backup. Work started at 7am and was done about 1pm. Do the math on that - LOL $4300 for 6 hours worth of work! Entire perimeter was dug out, gravel and drain pipe laid and then covered back up with cement.

I was very pleased with this company. I received 3 quotes to waterproof a very wet basement. Absolutely Dry was the only company that provided me alternatives. The other 2 companies were only interested in selling a specific process. The owner was very prompt and professional after I contacted home and I only had to wait 2 weeks for service. The foreman on the job was professional and friendly. He explained the entire process and walked me through the final job. The cleanup was very good. He went above and beyond what was required by helping me move heavy stuff and hooking up washer and dryer.

Absolutely Dry Basements was at my home last week installing their basement waterproofing system and they suggested their mudjacking services for my driveway. I've lived with a sloppy job of asphalt poured over concrete as an attempt to raise the driveway for the past 10 years. Somethign the previous owners had left for me. Paul and Matt were able to remove the asphalt more cleanly than I had even hoped and raise the concrete up. Its esthetically better AND the water will run off correctly now. Another great job done by Absolutely Dry.
Description of Work: raised the concrete immediately in front of my garage.

Estimate was ok, then lowered price to beat a competitor after I received additional estimates. Scheduled my job and then didn't hear from them. I called and texted. Finally the night before my scheduled job, I received a call from them and there was confusion about what was supposed to actually be done. In the morning I spoke with the owner (Paul) and he explained they had some staffing issues that caused confusion with my job. We talked it through and got it all sorted out and he honored the price I had been given on the phone by his previous employee. Was just a bad timing issue. The foreman on the job (Matt) was great to work with. Friendly and he and his workers laughed a lot and seemed to enjoy their work and each other. The job took about 4 hours from start to finish, quality and professional work. Having them estimate some mudjacking work for me as well.
Description of Work: Installed a sump pump and trenched 15 feet. Installed a floor drain to connect to an existing sump hole and sealed that hole.

It didn't take them long to start, within a week they were here. They came in, did the job in one day. They encouraged me to call them with any problems. Two days later I noticed there was water in one corner. Within three days they were out, did six more foot of digging, installing drain tile. They came on a Saturday, did it in 4 hours, and it didn't cost me anymore. The only thing I had an issue with was concrete dust, which its really messy. I'm very happy with the work, and this company.
Description of Work: I talked to three different companies for this job. The other two felt digging around the basement and filling any cracks leaking in would fix the issue. This company came in, dug up the floor, laid drain tile, put in a sump pump. This way, even if it would crack further in the future it would already be taken care of.
