They replaced and checked for loose shingles on our roof following a windstorm. The work was done well and we have had no other issues.

Job went perfectly once we were able to get our calendar and Tim's calendar to match. His crew was prompt, professional, hard working and did a very thorough clean-up. Resolved the improperly roofed areas with 30 yr. rubber membrane.....which no other roofer suggested or recommended. Increased attic ventilation with installation of ridge vents. Installed ice/water shields under valleys and all eves. Because of threatening weather he was conservative in stripping off the old shingles and brought in additional crew to ensure completion of shingling prior to possible storm. Charges were to the penny of the written and detailed estimate which wasn't the lowest or highest but the most complete written estimate we obtained.

After initial inspection, scheduling was the hardest part. Once on-site the work was done efficiently.

Our roof no longer leaks. DM Area Roofing took care of a variety of problems in a professional, competent way. We are pleased with the result. The final bill was considerably higher than the estimate. That probably should have been negotiated.

Extremely well. I strongly recommend this company! Tim's crew is efficient, polite, and professional. Timing and clean-up went well. Not one issue! Tim was honest to tell me that the timing was poor for a good seal during our first contact since it was late fall. He willingly accepted the job even though it was undesirable as it was small and it was a good distance from his normal working area. Tim also worked with me on the price.

Excellent. The job was done on time, at the price quoted, and with top quality shingles. Tim gave good advice, didn't try to rush me,and answered all emails.

When deciding on a roofer, Tim with Des Moines Area Roofing was the most professional and had the best track record. These were roofs for two apartment buildings and they did a good job treating the tenants like they would homeowners in being conscientious and cleaning up. Tim was involved in the entire job and they did everything they said they would and on time. He was thorough in taking pictures and documenting any areas of concern so that I could be confident everything on the roof will hold up for many years. I was very happy in the job they did on the roofs, their professionalism in the process, and follow through in their work and their cleanup.

We obtained multiple bids on our 18 year old roof, and Tim from Des Moines Area Roofing impressed me from the very first time I met him. He is the owner of his company, and yet he was very responsive to all of my questions that came via email and phone calls. I've met many handymen for various home projects, and he was by far the most responsive and attentive to my needs during the proposal process. Once the day came for our installation, he and his entire crew were timely and professional; one of the guys even helped me move my grill away from the house so it wouldn't get hit with falling debris. They weren't done in a day as promised, but they only needed a few hours the following day to finish everything up. The two most impressive aspects of doing business with Tim and his team were: (1) he didn't require a deposit before the work started, we paid him after the work was done and after walking around the house to confirm everything was cleaned up; and (2) the clean up afterwards, it was immaculate, in the 2.5 weeks since the project (and mowing twice) I have found just one (1) nail and two small pieces of shingle. I highly recommend Des Moines Area Roofing.

We had multiple companies provide bids for the replacement of our roof. Tim from Des Moines Area Roofing did the most thorough job during the bidding process. This included identifying existing ventilation issues and offering multiple solutions to correct the issues. He also pointed out issues with regard to how the siding on the house was becoming damaged because it was not installed correctly and was drawing moisture from the roof. Each of the other companies had note some subset of the issues and questions Tim had raised but none of the others noted the complete set. The bid provided by Tim was also extremely competitive with the other bids. Based Tim’s thorough analysis during the bidding process and the reviews we read here on Angie’s List, we selected Des Moines Area Roofing to do the work and couldn’t be happier. Tim and his entire crew were amazing. He said they could get the job done in one long day and they did. The crew started arriving a little after 7am. They were on the roof starting the tear off by 7:15am. Around 6:30pm that night all the shingles were in place and the cleanup was winding up. I’m pretty sure things were cleaner than when they got here and we haven’t found any nails or other debris. The roof looks great, we’ve had multiple rain and wind storms since the install and there haven’t been any issues. With regard to the siding issues Tim identified during the bidding, Tim was very up front that his crew is great at roofing, but not necessarily carpenters or siding repair experts. I wanted everything done at one time and done right to address the specific concerns he had noted. Tim agreed to help find a carpenter that could do the work right and coordinate with his team so that we didn’t have people on the roof doing siding work right after the new roof was on. The carpenter got Tim an estimate and they bundled that into the overall estimate from Des Moines Area Roofing. The siding repair got done in tandem with the new roof on the same day. Tim and his crew clearly take pride in doing great work. In addition to the great work, I’d have to say this was by far the smoothest major home improvement project we’ve had done in 25 years of home ownership.

Tim with Des Moines Area Roofing did the most thorough inspection of our existing roof and the problem areas where we were experiencing leaking giving him a better understanding of our problem than the other companies we had contacted for a quote. He completely explained what the issues were and what he could do to fix them. His professionalism and the time he spent with us gave us the confidence to select him and his company to complete the repairs. Rain delayed the start time by 24 hours, but Tim stayed in contact with us so that we knew what was going to happen. Once the crew got started we were amazed at how quickly the old roof came off and the underlying repairs were completed. The new shingles went on almost as quickly, and it is amazing how much the new shingles improved the look of the building. We hadn't noticed how haphazardly the old shingles had been applied, but with the fresh new shingles lined up as straight as a laser it looked like we had a whole new building. The team left our property as clean or cleaner than they found it, there wasn't a single nail or scrap of paper to be found when they were gone. The real test was yet to come. The roof had been leaking for years and three other companies had come in promising a watertight roof after completing repairs, so we waited for the rain. It has rained plenty of times, often quite vigorously, and we have yet to see any evidence of leaks anywhere. I waited nearly two months to write this review to ensure that the new roof was indeed watertight. I have every confidence that this new roof will continue to protect our building for years to come. I have complete confidence in recommending Tim and Des Moines Area Roofing. We have had experience with three other roofing companies who have all failed to solve this problem. Des Moines Area Roofing did what they said they would do, they did it on time and on budget.

The owner, Tim, was professional, provided a good break down of the estimate up-front, stayed on budget, communicated with us several times as the project progressed, was trustworthy, and seemed to care about what we wanted and needed to have done. His team completed the job in 1 day, they were professional, and used their time wisely. Overall, this company did a great job and I would definitely hire them again.

From my phone call to the completion of the job Tim was great to work with. He understood our budget concerns & explained everything. We had several problem areas & he had solutions. His bid was not the lowest, but his explanations, guarantee & willingness to ensure a proper job, put him ahead of the competition. In one day I had a beautiful new roof. He & his crew had to solve many issues & they went above & beyond in expectations & in the amount of work it turned out to be. The quote was spot on and no extra charges for the additional work, materials or labor. The job site was spotless & crew was great. It was easy to see they respected their boss and had a good relationship. All of his people have been with him more then 8 years. Tim was great! He came and outlined everything that could be done to my roof, what he recommended, and was very easy to understand and work with. He gave me a timeline and a budget breakdown for what each of the services would cost. I would happily use him again!

This company provides great service. The workers arrived on time at 8:30 a.m. on a Saturday and started working immediately and removed the old roof. The owner arrived about an hour later and explained the process to me and said the job would be finished by mid-afternoon. By 11 a.m., the old roof was gone, new plywood was installed and most of the mess from the old roof was gone and thrown in a dumpster. In the afternoon the new shingles were installed and everything was complete and cleaned up by 4:00 p.m. The owner returned, made sure everything was done to my satisfaction and all the mess was clean. It was amazing as to how quickly they worked. This was completed on a beautiful day at the end of February and since then I have experienced rain, snow, and high winds and everything is fine and looks great. I have had many people work on my house and many never show up, or don't finish the job on time, or never clean everything up so i was very impressed with this company. I also have a crazy work schedule and Tim the owner was great to schedule the job on Saturday.. Thank you Des Moines Area Roofing

Tim and his crew are the best. They do impeccable work, they're quick, they're professional, and they clean up before they leave. Their pricing is very fair. They are a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them.

Tim was very responsive and arrived on site exactly when promised, both for the estimate and for the start of the job. His crew is fantastic and took great care in covering the ground and shrubs with tarps and removing deck furniture. Job was completed in one day and the cleanup was immaculate. I honestly could not find a single thing out of place or a stray nail in the grass.The materials used were top of the line and the roof looks fantastic. I'm glad we went with the color suggested by Tim. The crew also helped me as I installed 2 new bathroom exhaust fans that were previously not vented through the roof. Once I located the exhaust points, they cut holes and attached flexible vent pipe. If you need a new roof, Tim is the man to call.

When I was looking for new roof, I contacted 5 companies. Des Moines Area roofing was my last company. The previous night, I had a bid from another company that I really liked and was almost certain I was going to choose them. Tim arrived at my house before I got there and got the numbers. We went in my house and talked. When I talked to Tim, I felt comfortable with him as well as confident, but in the back of my mind, I was leaning towards the other company. When Tim showed me his bid, it was almost identical to the other company, but I still wasn't sure. I did like the fact they recycle the old roof shingles and that he would paint my pipes black to match the roof ( I saw one of the houses his crew roofed and really liked it) as well as 6 feet of ice/water guard. (A couple places only offered 3). He also said he would put a fan vent from my bathroom ceiling fan on the outside of my roof for the warm air to blow directly outside. I was still deciding between him and the other company, but he ended up lowering the bid and I decided to use his company instead of the other one. The night before my house was being re-roofed, they put a dumpster in my driveway so that once the crew arrived the next morning, they could immediately start working. The crew arrived around 8am and got all the tools and materials moved to where they needed them. They had roof vents in my front yard and some other tools and put down tarp over my front porch, deck, and sides the house. The truck with the shingles arrived around 8:15am. The crew was tearing off the old shingles and throwing the old shingles in the dumpster and when the old shingles were removed, the forklift moved the 2 pallets of shingles to the roof. I didn't watch them all the time, but about every 30 minutes or so, I would go outside and check on the progress. A little before 8:30am they were about finished removing all the shingles from both sides of the roof. I decided to take a couple of pictures of both sides because I probably wont see my house again without shingles and they were starting to put the new shingles in the front by 8:30am. I think it was a little before 9am, one of the crew told me to call Tim, so did. Tim assured me that everything was in good hands. I chose Certainteed landmark black moire shingle. I went back inside and came out around 9:40 and Tim was there. He went up on the roof and spray painted the white pipes black to match the roof and used the rest of the spray paint in the can. He came to check up on things and had another appointment to go to and said he would be back at the end. The crew continued to work on my house including doing the area above my front door as well as the area by my chimney. I think it was around noon, that the crew finished re-roofing my house. They spent about 1/2 an hour cleaning up all the debris, getting all the nails from my driveway/yard, pickup up old shingles that missed the dumpster. Tim arrived as they were picking up. They had everything picked up and were finished around 12:30pm. It took them just over 4 hours to take off the old shingles, re-roof my house with new shingles and pick up all the debris. The crew left around 12:30pm, while Tim stayed behind and we did a walk through. Tim got a new can of spray paint and put another layer of spray paint on the pipes and looked over everything to make sure everything was in order and gave him the check. My satellite didn't work which I was told that it might not,work and might need to call my provider. Fortunately, they were able to come out the same day and get my satellite working. I am happy with the way my roof looks. I got the ridge vent and am glad to get rid of the 4 box vents. The back of my roof looks a lot cleaner and really like the look especially with the black pipes. I would highly recommend Des Moines area roofing. I took pictures and showed it to people. A few of my friends have driven by my house and like how it looks. One of the people at work is going to be getting a new roof and asked me for the contact information for the company that did my roof. I gave him the information as well as gave him the information to look at other reviews on Angie's list.. He was impressed.

If we could give these guys a higher rating we would do it in an instant. Tim came over when he said he would, walked me through our options for roof repair, provided a detailed estimate and then had a crew come over the same day and take care of our repairs. The work was done quickly, professionally and thoroughly. I would never use another vendor for roof repair or replacement in Des Moines and we will wholeheartedly recommend them to everyone we know looking for anything to do with roofing needs in central Iowa. Outstanding vendor.
