The franchise manager was responsive and gave us confidence that they would be providing great weekly service. He told us to let him know if anything went wrong and he would fix it immediately. The first visit was disappointing. The hard wood floors and kitchen appliances were very good, but the tile floors in our home were not cleaned well at all. They "deep-cleaned" the master bath, but it had streaks all over and the light fixtures had large amounts of streaked dust on them. There were also obvious streaks all over the master bath tile floor and the glass shower. We have a very well-kept home and were hoping that the cleaning would really polish off the already-clean environment we had, but instead it was less clean than if we had done it ourselves. On top of that, they cleaning person was at our residence for five hours, leaving exactly on the hour, which seems strange since they don't charge us by the hour. We were also disappointed to notice a large spot of car oil soaked into our new driveway from the cleaning person's car. We immediately called the franchise manager and left a message, but he never returned our call. We cancelled the cleaning service entirely and will never consider them again due to the lack of follow-up customer service.

They do a pretty good job, and are usually helpful.

This is one of the most unprofessional company we have ever worked with. The cleaners were an hour late. They did a terrible job of cleaning our house. After they left, we had to pretty much clean everything again other than the bathrooms. None of the rooms and fixtures were dusted. Unless you are prepared to hover over the cleaners every second of the time they are in your place, I would not trust them to do their job. When we called the supervisor to complain, initially she said she would send them back to finish the job BUT later left a message on our phone stating she changed her mind and would send us a gift card for $50/- instead. Her message stated that she didn't like our feedback and hence didn't want to send the cleaners back. From our perspective, she can keep that $50/- because that is the last she is getting from us. If you are smart, you will hire someone else.

Overall I am happy with the services received. There were a few visits during the holidays that I was less impressed with.

In April 2012 I purchased 3 Merry Maids housecleaning services from Groupon for $225 ($75 each). I had been considering hiring a housecleaning service before the Groupon came up, and I had previously gotten an estimate from them, so they already had my records. I spoke to the gentleman who did the original service estimate several times to try and schedule my cleanings, each time he told me that they were scheduling about a month out and he would get back to me. But he never got back to me, and when I would call back, he would just say that they were swamped from the Groupon, scheduling a month out, and he'd get back to me. I tried to tell him that I understood they were scheduling a month out, so what openings did he have in a month or 6 weeks, but he never did get me on the schedule. I really needed to get on the schedule; the coupons expired in October, and I wanted them to be at least a month apart. I finally just called the office to get an appointment, they asked if I had used their services before, and I explained that this person had evaluated the house but it had not been cleaned it yet, could they schedule it from that? They said yes, and put me on the schedule for the following month. For my first appointment, I called to confirm the appointment time; it was a good thing I did becasue they did not have me on the schedule. I told them when I had called and who I had spoken to; I had specifically arranged my schedule to be home, and was pretty upset. They said that they would send someone out. A woman came to the house, but did a very quick and slapdash job. I remember being somewhat shocked that the very first thing she did was go into one of the bathrooms, fold the end of the toilet paper, and put a sticker on it that said something like Cleaned by Merry Maids. This was before any cleaning was done. She was there about an hour and a half and said she was done. She had not cleaned family room, which was supposed to be one of my 6 rooms, so I asked her about it. She seemed surprised, but did go downstairs and spend a few minutes vacuuming and dusting, quick and dirty. Then I asked her what about vacuuming the living furniture (I have cats so the furniture gets hairy). She said that she could if I wanted her to, I said yes so she again did a quick swipe with the vacuum without getting too much hair off. I use a brush with the vacuum and the hair comes pretty well, so I ended up redoing it after she left. She also didn't do a very good job dusting, there was still dust on a lot of my knicknack shelves, but I was tired of pointing out additional cleaning so I just let it go. I wasn't at all impressed, but figured that since I had already paid for the cleanings, I would use up my 2 additional Groupons and not go back to Merry Maids again. The second time I got a FANTASTIC woman, she spent probably 3 to 3-1/2 hours and really scrubbed the place! I was very impressed, she really did a great job. I was ready to hire her on the spot. If she had done the first cleaning rather than the second, I would have had a much higher opinion of the company, rather than going into my second visit with very low expectations, just to use the coupons up. For my third and last cleaning, I asked for the woman who came the second time, but was told that she didn't work there any more. They sent a team of two people out, they did a reasonably good job, but one of the women had a severe cat allergy and spent the whole time with a runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, etc. Merry Maids KNEW I had cats, it was in my record, and I was appalled that they would send someone with cat allergies to a house with 4 cats. I felt very badly for her, she worked hard but was obviously miserable. So I had one poor experience, one great experience, and one pretty good experience as far as the quality of the cleaning but very unhappy with the care they showed towards their employees. For the price I paid, 2 out of 3 were worth it, but at their full price of $170 (instead of the $75 that I paid), I would not use their services again unless I could be assured of getting someone of the quality of the second visit. I would give them a combined grade of B-/C+ for the three visits.

I was appalled at what they considered "cleaning my house" A $170 package included only 800 sq ft of my house. I came home and it didn't even look like they had come to clean. There was still spilled milk stains on the table from breakfast because that would have caused them to use a damp cloth and "scrub" not just wipe!! The floor wasn't swept or mopped, but apparantly that is not part of the basic cleaning package..... Their was some lint and paper debris on the floor, instead of picking it up and throwing it away, they vacuumed around it! After I called to complain that it didn't even look like they had come to clean, they told me to remember it was just a wipe down with a dry cloth. They would not scrub anything. What kind of house cleaner doesn't clean? They actually came back out and "cleaned" again, but it was not much better than the first time. They did not sweep corners, vacuum against the walls or wipe the toothpaste out of sink. I have had several house cleaners, and this was the worst quality service that I have ever received!

I've had cleaning services in the past and have always been very satisfied, but the work done by Merry Maids couldn't even be called mediocre--it was haphazard and shoddy. Chunks were still all over the carpet after vacuuming, nothing (hamper, rug, etc) was moved to mop in the bathroom or kitchen--the floors were still dirty. After the kitchen was "cleaned", there were still crumbs all over the counters and table. She actually dusted around a pen that was on the table! I called and mentioned a few things that had been poorly done, and someone else came back and took care of those. Later that day, I went to their website to see what they considered standard cleaning of the rooms, and there was still plenty of their standard cleaning that didn't get done. I notified the owner in a letter of my dissatisfaction, and never heard a word back. I will never have them come out again and will never recommend them.You can feel free to share this with the business if you like.

Things went very good and the price was reasonable. They came out and gave me a room by room and service by service estimate. This was helpful because I had certain things done in some rooms and I thought it was nice to know exactly how much I am going to spend. The first job was charged by the hour and then they charge a flat fee. They are very professional and it does not take them a lot of time to do the job. They do a nice job and I am happy with them. I will use them again in the future.
