+ -1 moreI went into flooring america and spoke with a person directly about my flooring needs. I advised this wouldn't be installed until March of the next year and they wrote down all of my information. After the people came out to estimate, the salesperson and I ironed out the details via email for about two weeks. When I was happy with the price, I asked how I could seal the deal on my quote due to the timeframe of the install. The salesperson responded by asking if they were installing the floor. MY JAW DROPPED. Somehow she has completed missed the fact that they would be installing my floor? She then added another $1600 dollars to my quote for the installation fees. When I asked her why she JUST NOW added the fees, she responded with that she has to pay the installers. She completely missed the fact that they would be installing my floors. NOT REALLY SURE WHY I WOULD BE AT A FLOORING PLACE GETTING ESTIMATES FOR FLOORING INSTALLATION IF THEY WEREN'T GOING TO INSTALL IT. End of rant. Don't use this company.

+ -1 moreShane was wonderful to work with - helped me choose tile and stone for fireplace very easily. Carpet choice was also simple - he was very helpful. The installers were great as well. The carpet guys were careful, vacuumed when they were finished - and I could not have been happier! The tile guys were also very good, professional, and clean. When I had the chance to look at the tile later in the day & wasn't super happy with one piece, he came right back out & fixed it - no questions asked. I was so pleased! Would definitely do business with Flooring America again - made the remodeling process easy!
Description of Work: We had carpeting installed on our main level and upstairs. We also had stone from floor to ceiling installed on our fireplace, and tile work done on our hearth.

My only negative is that I don't think the padding was any better than the old padding we had. But overall our experience with them was wonderful! We went to the Flooring America in Ankeny not West Des Moines.

+ 1 moreIt didn't go, I don't understand why I have to drive to DSM to tell them I am looking at 1700 sq ft and whatI want, when I can tell them over the phone. 16 July 2013 -In response to the Company's response to my review - Had the gentleman on the phone explained it to me the way it was written in the company's response, I would have completely understood that. It however was not relayed that way, it was a rude telephone call with no explanation whatsoever as to why. Especially since I already knew the products I wanted for each room and knew they carried them. I seems to me like the Company response was said just to make other future and potential customers feel better about using their service.
Description of Work: I called today to see if I could have someone come out and give us an estimate for our floors in our house. We have 1700 sq feet aprox. I was told by the gentleman on the telephone that we would have to come into the store and meet with them before they would come out and measure. I explained that I would rather not drive to Des Moines, we are interested in carpet and hardwood mix. Needless to say, I will be calling other companies for estamates.

+ -1 moreWe have worked with Brent and Mike on several projects in multiple homes we have owned, as well as in our businesses. They have always exceeded our expectations. On this particular project we selected the flooring and tile we wanted, worked out the specifics with Mike, handed him the keys to our home, and then left for a 10 day vacation. Upon our return, we had beautiful new hand scraped wood floors where dated carpet and hardwood floors had been before. Everything was cleaned, swept, and dusted. It was as if they had never been there...expect for the floors. I will absolutely use Flooring America again, and would recommend them for any project of any size.
Description of Work: Replaced about 2500 sq ft of hardwood floor, installed wall tile, installed wood on ceiling.

I chose Mannington Adura vinyl tile flooring and he was very helpful with what color grout to use, and helping confirm my decision on the color choice that was best in each bathroom. I was VERY pleased with his service. The install went very well also. The 2 man team was very kind, polite, and clean. They were easy to talk with, and I was not worried about leaving them alone in the house. They were done in the time they said it would take - and II love my new bathroom floors! We will definitely call them when we need more flooring - highly recommend!!

He gave me several ideas what we could do with the flooring and answered all my questions. I received my quote the very next day. Shane sent out the best installers I've ever dealt with. They did an amazing job with the installation. They were sure not to make any unnecessary mess while doing the job. They cleaned up after the work was done. Asked me lots of questions and made sure I was very pleased with everything before they left. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for new flooring. JENNIFER V.

Description of Work: I needed new flooring for the 2nd floor of my house, so I went to Flooring America to look around and get some ideas. I found a carpet pattern that I really liked, but couldn't decide between the 20 shades of beige it came in :). Brent was really patient and ordered samples of several of my favorite colors so I could take them home and look at them in the various rooms with my own furniture, paint colors, and lighting. After hanging out with the samples for a few days, I knew which one i wanted and it looks PERFECT - love it love it!! The installers arrived on time and worked their butts off to get it installed in one day. They moved all the furniture out of the bedrooms, removed and hauled away the old carpet and pad, then installed the new stuff and moved all the furniture back. Nothing was damaged and every piece of furniture ended up back in the right spot! The installers did a way better job than my original builder did, you don't see ANY seams! Before, I had a big seam across the threshold of every doorway and another one halfway down the hall. These guys took the time to plan the layout so that the seam would be very inconspicuous. I should have replaced the carpet years earlier! I get a ton of compliments!! In one of the bedrooms, I decided to go with a tiger bamboo instead of carpet for something different. It's a cool bamboo with streaks of light and darker colors. Brent @ Flooring America knew the manufacturer made a matching floor register and suggested I get it for an integrated look. Again, I love it and everyone comments on the unique floor!

Description of Work: Went in for an estimate, provided the measurements they requested and they never got back to me. Customer service was medocre, They seemed like I was a burdon and waste of time. I think they saw that I was a young adult and didnt know anything about the carpet purchasing process; that they didnt want to take me seriously - at least thats how they made me feel. I got my carpet purchased and installed by a local competitor who patiently walked me through every step, kept in contact with me and took me very seriously. If their install is anything like their sales/ customer service - Buyer beware!
