TruGreen Lawn Care - 5101

My lawn is worst in neighborhood, no effect from 1st service. Did not come out for repeat treatment as promised despite many calls. Does not return calls. Looks to me that all the 5- star reviews here are fake.

In spring 2016, a door to door salesman came by, and I had a lot of weeds in my lawn at the time. He said that there would be "no weeds whatsoever" in my lawn after 2 or 3 sessions with TruGreen, so I purchased the lawn treatment package. In May 2017, after a full season with TruGreen, there were many dozens of weeds still remaining throughout my lawn. I called TruGreen, described my problem, and asked for a call from a manager. My intent was to set up a meeting with the manager and show them all of the weeds in my lawn. Instead, they came out and retreated my lawn and charged me another $51. I called again and again asked for a phone call from the manager. After two weeks without a phone call, I called them back and cancelled the service. I also told them I would not pay the $51, because I had not asked for a new treatment, I had only asked for a call from a manager. This was in July of 2017. In December 2017, after no contact with TruGreen since July, we get a call from a collection agency wanting their $51! The collection agency talked to my wife and scared her into paying the bill. At this point, I called the TruGreen Corporate office and lodged a complaint against the manager of the Cedar Rapids branch. On 3 different occasions, I had asked for a call from the TruGreen manager, and I did not once ever receive a call! After many phone calls and hassles, the TruGreen Corporate office (there were very pleasant, btw) credited my account, refunded my $51, and called off the collection agency dogs. I will never do business with TruGreen ever again.

I got a good deal money wise but overall service was just okay. I might look into other service providers.

Their customer service they have automatic calls, telling you what they are going to do, and when they are going to come. A lot of the times, they use different services then what they say they are going to do. Just the customer service does not match what some of the services are. I like my lawn the way it looks and all, I just think customer service stinks. I can't really blame it on customer service, but the service you call, I would rather speak to an live person. The quality is good, beside what the lawn looks like. The lawn looks great. I'm looking to save money, because I am retired, so I might do it myself. I would recommend them to anybody.

I ended up using TruGreen because they stopped by my house doing door to door sales. I was already interested in using a service that sprayed for pests anyways because my dogs got fleas withing a month of me moving to Cedar Rapids. My dogs have never had fleas ever and it was very traumatic for me. Probably for them as well. My rental house was in a very wooded area and there were bugs everywhere! I used them for the grub treatment and their pest control treatment. I used them for 2 years. They were great. I only stopped using them because I moved into my own house and I wanted a company that could do the lawn treatment service and mow as well.

I would like more details from them. I often find my notice in the yard somewhere rather than on the door. My yard is in patches surrounding my house and garage that the previous owners later added. I am not sure if all areas are being treated. I pay for the service a year at a time and wish the contract had to be renegotiated each year, but they just keep coming. I do know that I do not have the weed issues we used to have and my lawn does look much better. So I would say there are a few things that I have to work out with the provider and then it will be great! The cost above is with the discount 10% if paid ahead.

We went back to them after a few years hiatus hoping they would improve. Nope. Fees were 50% higher. We had asked for local manager to contact us before first application. Nope. Visits were sporadic, and had to contact them for service now and then. Got tired of incessant sales calls for other services, and they even would come out to get us to buy other services. Guys that actually did the work were nice enough, but sorry, no more.

The tech i had was nice but wasn't knowledgeable about my problem. They have a guarantee that if you are not satisfied they come out and treat your lawn again. My tech treated my lawn about 3-4 times before I fired the company. The manager came out and looked at the lawn. He said it was a sod web worm and that needed to be treated in the spring. I was frustrated that my tech did not know this. The manager offered me a and quot;Manager's Discountand quot; and when comparing prices his discount was still about $80 higher than Scott's Lawn. So I chose to try Scott's Lawn Care ---------------------------------------------------------------- After Posting this I received a call from Mr. McDonald the New Head Manager at my local Office. He called to apologize for my service. He didn't ask to return to the company, He just called to make his sincerest apology. I Think that takes Guts. I asked him a bit about what changes are being made under the new management and from what I hear things are good. Scotts has been good to me and should things not work for me with Scotts........I think I may give TruGreen another shot.

My lawn looks the best it has looked in 10 years since I've lived here! I have used Greg's and Culver's each for 4 years and have seen no improvement...in fact our yard was one of the worst in the neighborhood! After one treatment by TruGreen it looked much more green, less weeks. I couldn't believe it! I am amazed!

I will never use Tru Green again. I scheduled service but the service was not performed according to the agreement I made. Service was done that had a negative effect on my lawn this year so I terminated after the first treatment. When I called the local office no one answered. When a message was left by the service manager in my area it was very unprofessional. I will never use Tru Green again.

The work was done well and applicators were very good. However, the firm sent me a bill by mail and charged me a late fee because, they said I had not paid when they first sent it. They could not tell me details of the.missing bill. and quot;I don't think we should do it this wayand quot; said their secretary on the phone when we complained! If it happens again I will discontinue using this firm.

It would depend on which service person came, as to how good of a job they did.....some were excellent, others did not do as well. My husband started openly watching and would speak up if they missed something. The company was very good about quickly sending a service person out, at no charge, to re-apply any service that did not work.

When I called to sign up for lawn care I discussed that we had a lot of bare spots in our lawn and weeds. I also thought they said on the phone that I would be getting a tree and bush fertilizer treatment for free, but it turns out we were charged for it on top of the lawn care. After the first few treatments we still had bare spots and when we called to ask about it they said that adding grass seed would be an extra service. So, we bought a bag of seed at Menards for cheap and our grass looks much better for a fraction of the cost. We also called to tell them we had a ton of dandelions after we thought they had already sprayed for weed control. They came out a few days later and sprayed and the weeds disappeared, but were charged again for the services. We think it's overpriced for not that much of an improvement to our lawn.

My overall experience with them has been good. They're responsive and punctual. They're fine and reasonable people to deal with.

I liked them, and I thought they were really good. They were very professional and always left a little note when they came. Everything was really nice. The lawn was really nice. I just didn’t like the chemicals. When I called to cancel they just wanted to know why, but they were really polite about it. I didn’t have anything to compare their price with, but it wasn’t that expensive. The only major problem I am having is if all of a sudden weeds started coming up and I couldn’t handle it or something like that, I call them. It is just because of the chemicals that I don’t use them regularly. I didn’t want that anywhere near me.

Their price is based on the size. They are pretty good. The quality of work seemed to be fine. They just come automatically. I only need to call for anything else. They come on their own time. Their professionalism is fine. I would use them in the future if I needed any service.

They did a good job. They cleaned up after themselves when they came to our home. We would recommend them for Angie’s List.

They come out in a hap-hazard manner. The customer service is not good at all and they never bill me how I ask to be billed.
