Regretfully, we were in Hawaii on our honeymoon when Mr. Evans roofed our house. (NOT RECOMMENDED.) Upon our return, Mr. Evans has to finish clean up. I noticed that the attic was a mess after they left, so I had to call him back and have him come clean up after themselves from the wood pieces, dust, and debris in the attic. He also mentioned our "chimney needed to be resealed" and he could do it for $200 more. I ignorantly agreed. Over the winter, a few shingles blew off the roof. That next spring, more random shingles blew off, so I contacted Mr. Evans and requested he return and repair the damaged areas. He returned to replace the few that blew off. Later in the spring/summer, heavy rains caused the chimney to leak terribly. I again called him to repair the chimney, which he did reluctantly. Not soon after a large patch of shingles blew off exposing bare OSB. I contacted Mr. Evans an asked why there was no tar paper under the shingles. He began becoming belligerent, rude, and hung up on me. Under further investigation, I discovered that almost all of the roof along the drip edge had no tar paper or ice/water shield. I called Mr. Evans again and he refused to speak to me. I sued him in court for the maximum allowed, $5000, to have the roof repaired with ice/water shield but lost in court because I brought affidavits in from other roofing contractors instead of bringing in the contractors themselves. Mr. Evans was also a habitual visitor to the courts and has been a delinquent since his youth. Mr. Evans has since changed his business name to Evans Roofing, and has rumored to be now working for the pipe fitters. Beware any contractor named "Bill Evans"
Description of Work: Mr. Evans and crew were contracted to tear off the existing multiple layers of roofing on our 2 story farm house, install OSB sheeting, then shingle the roof. This is a standard function of any roofing contractor.
