 + 0 moreThe porch has a 12 inch section that is rougher and darker than the rest of the porch. The sealant between the porch and the house is very unsightly. It also has a 5-6 inch section that is open. I have called Shawn 5 times about it. He came back once and said that the concrete should bleach out and he would send someone to use a stone to smooth out the rough section. He didn't respond to how the sealant could be improved to be more presentable. He just said that it was a problem with self adjusting caulks. Every other time I called, he said he would send someone out. It has been over 6 weeks now. We have been putting off having the new railing installed until this problem was resolved. We chose S & M because of a neighbor's recommendation and the quality of the work done for them. When people come to our front porch they are apalled by the appearance of the caulk and the section of the porch that is so much rougher and darker than the rest. Today, 9/26/2014, we noticed that the new porch had a crack down the middle. There was a crack in the old porch which is why we had it replaced. Now my husband has to decide what we are going to do so that we can have our railing contractor install the new railing.

 + -1 moreI contacted them via their website and asked for an estimate, a return email or return call. A few days later, having heard nothing from them, I contacted them again. And again they did not even respond. If they had taken the time to reply saying that they were very busy at the moment or another excuse, I would have understood. Their lack of a response is very unprofessional.
Description of Work: I asked for an estimate for a slab of concrete to be poured at my house.

 + 0 moreS&M Concrete did an excellent job on my requested job, with minimal involvement by me. I spoke to them on the phone and let them know what I wanted (rebuilding of front steps), and S&M dropped off a bid in my mailbox, which I accepted. I appreciated the ease of process - I explained what I wanted, got a hassle-free quote, and when I went ahead, the job was done in an excellent way. The bid was $200 more than someone else's estimate, but I think the hassle-free nature and the professionalism justified the premium. I'm confident that S&M concrete will get the job done *correctly*, which is by far the most important issue in any home contracting arrangement. They might be a little bit more expensive than others, but I appreciate the peace of mind.

 + -1 moreS & M were very punctual about estimating and scheduling the work. When I started talking to them about why the steps needed replacement and what they could do to keep it from happening again - He already had a plan to overcome the sinking issue. The craftsmanship of the layout of the walk was exactly as I asked for and work was excellent. There was a little concrete slop left in the driveway which dried and was never cleaned off - however I did not contact them to come and fix it. I am sure they woild have. I would highly recommend them for any work of this sort.

 + 0 moreIt went very well. While I wish I could have gotten the work done sooner their time frame was similar to the other two contractors I contacted for estimates. They got the work done in a day. One part of the project was a little difficult, repairing chipped off chunks off our front porch but they did it without damaging the front rail or its supports. The color doesn't exactly match the existing concrete but I knew that going in as none of the three I contacted was able to provide that. The cleanup was well done.

They were not familiar to the new city code that had gone to effect on the first of March and they realized it just only the 22nd of March. There a portion of the sidewalk that crosses our driveway are to be five feet instead of four feet and it has to do with the Americans with Disability Act.

 + 0 moreI would highly recommend them. When the guy came to give the estimate, there was several things we wanted, he told us what was worth our money now, and he gave us a ton of options, not once pushing us toward the more expensive option. They were very competitive in price.

 + 1 moreAll in all we are very happy with the work and product. We would use them again. We actually have a family member needing concrete work and will be sending him over for an estimate later this week.
Description of Work: We recieved the quote and were very pleased with the price. This was the total price for the driveway and a big section of a sidewalk all the way up to the house. It took them three trips to complete the job in whole. The first trip was digging up all the old concrete. They even finished the sidewalk that day so that was unexpected! The driveway took a little more work because of how wet it was under it. He wasn't expecting that but he did the right thing and brought out limestone and laid it down to soak up all the water. Sometimes you get concrete companies that just lay it on wet mud but he didn't want to do that and is very protective of his reputation. The second trip they prepped the driveway and made sure it was dry and then placed the boards. They then covered it all with tarp so it wouldn't get wet again over the weekend. The last and final trip was the pouring of the driveway. He made sure it was going away from the house so no water would go towards it. He explained everything on why he did what he did in every step so we were comfortable with the results. The only reason I'm giving a couple B's was the communication on each trip and when they would be back was never communicated to us. So we didn't know if he would be back in 2 days or 4, etc. When they did show up they had 5-6 people working, so they don't mess around! Matter of fact he wanted to get it ALL done in one day but with the driveway (under the concrete) being so wet he couldn't do it. We appreciated his honesty and glad he didn't just pour on wet mud.

 + -1 moreI'm very happy with the price and the overall work quality of the concrete job. The men worked hard while they were here, and the finished concrete looks wonderful. The only reason I'm rating them a "B" rather than an "A" is that they did a small amount of damage to the bottom of the siding on my garage, they left some pieces of old concrete in my hosta bed, and they didn't fill in the trenches on the sides of the concrete when they removed the forms.
Description of Work: The company tore out my old driveway and patio, then poured a new driveway, patio, and small sidewalk running between the two.
