He said the roof needed to be placed and I agreed to a new Decra steel roof.. He said they could start the work in 2 weeks and he ended up starting almost 2 months later. He had bad communication throughout the project, he parked his trailer in front of my neighbor?s house for almost 3 weeks, he did not tell me the Decra steel roof could not be put on part of the house due to pitch but I agreed to have a traditional steel roof put on for this part. His communication got worse at this point but he did finally complete the roof. He never repaired the chimney leak and after going back and forth with him about it and even going to the BBB I finally gave up fighting with him and terminated the relationship.
Description of Work: I had a small leak around my chimney that he came out to look at.

Description of Work: Re-tiled roof of house with Corning architectural tiles. The work was done as specified. The job was done later than planned, workmen were rough with surrounding structures (fence, grill). Skylights are now letting in air more than before work was done.

I did not feel comfortable with the company. He decided what the problem was even before looking at it, and made it a big job than I asked him to do.

Excuse me [member name remove] but I did exactly what you requested, and I told you what the issue was...I am sorry you homeowners do not know nothing about roofing products or its properties....You purchased the package so you knew firsthand what my job was, How can you state you didn't feel comfortable, what did I do to make you feel that way...So [member name remove] since you didn't trust what I told you was the issue, What was the problem since you called someone else after purchasing my package....? I am sure they told you the same thing....Your roof is way past being replaced 25 yrs old, you have no granulars left as my pictures supports that your cap shingles are all split up and you have the wrong kind of ridge vent installed just like your insurance representative stated....I did as prescribed in my DEAL....and would like PAID as WELL for my SERVICES as they were rendered per our appointment......

Description of Work: It started on rocky terms as I purchased the the package on 8/22/14 but did not hear from the company until about a week later. Charlie arrived and inspected the roof, took pictures and informed me that the roof was really in bad shape with poor workmanship, and that the boots on the vent pipes were in need of replacement and that it would be difficult to replace the vent pipes because he would need to remove some shingles which were probably brittle and maybe a color match could not be found. Therefore, he could temporarily put some sealer around the boot that was leaking. He said it was not possible to put a boot over the top of the damaged boot.. I called another roofer for a second opinion. He said the roof had 2 or 3 years left and that, yes, he could put a boot over the damaged boot and that they sell boots and with his 25 years of experience that was what needed to be fixed. Because of the conflicting information I did not have the confidence to continue with Professional Roofing and did not want to put a new roof on until necessary.

I never said I couldn't put a boot over the pipe, but with the pitch and the age of your shingles or should I say the defects that certainteed had difficulties with it would be benefcial for you to do something about it now before time expires on your warranty...However I know new homeowners are not aware of all roofing issues...You cannot just slide a boot over a pipe without it being flashed by cutting the shingles or removing them and that will destroy the sealing or in better terms more shingles will need replaced and replacing pipe boots was not part of the package, it clearly states INSPECTION and caulk four roof penetrations...in which I was willing to do as the package describes but replacing pipe boots I would've charged more for that in which you felt was not what you wanted to do....Getting a second opinion is a GOOD THING, however I feel spending more money for a second opinion that was going to get fixed per your order with ANGIES LIST would've been sufficient, why hire someone else to do the same thing again...? My second concern is all valleys are installed inproperly and whether they are causing you issues now or latter it is my responsibility to make you aware of in which I also did....3rd and last thing the area you live in was hit by HAIL this summer...You have 1 year to make a claim with your insurance carrier...Again Thank You for using AGIES LIST...

They were responsive. They showed up when they said they would be there. I am going to call them this spring. I did not get the work done because of the weather conditions.

Charlie submitted the lowest bid at $5250.Answered all my questions and also informed me that my old roof which was only 11 years old ,was manufactured by CertainTeed company and that litigation was pending in calf. for faulty manufacturing He gave me the 800 number to call to file a claim. The web site is http://certainteedshinglesettlement.com/settlementcalculator.cfm . We did not use charlie this time but would recommend him in the future.
