13 months and some is scraped and part of that is primed. Claimed he was in the hospital but a friend saw him in his truck in town at the time he said he was in the hospital waiting discharge. Found out he's unreliable, going to have to take him to small claims court to recover the money paid.

There was no rush on this house and Kevin's crew took all the time needed to properly prep the surfaces. Siding was 110 year old cedar shake with layers of lead paint that had pealed and chipped. It just would not hold paint well. Kevin tediously scraped to get all loose paint off (and there were bags and bags collected - vacuumed from the ground and roof surfaces). This is where most of the time was spent. I did ask to upgrade to Sherwin Williams best exterior paint and paid extra for that, as well as some extra for window glazing at my request. I also requested some additional priming for the old wood that seemed to soak up the oil base primer - I paid additional for extra primer. I wanted the best quality job possible with durable, long lasting paint. And that is just what I got. The house looks beautiful.

Recommended contractor to tighten siding. Work was well done, but has started to peel, already. Biggest problem was timeliness. He had several other jobs going and we never felt like we were a priority. It just seemed to go on forever. They did not clean up daily. He took a deposit to paint our fence, and never returned.

The first problem was that although we had discussed painting the outside of the windows in addition to the molding around the windows and included that in the contract, Kevin stated that the wording meant only painting around the windows, not painting the exterior side of the windows . In an effort to get the job done, I agreed to a second contract with more specific wording and paid an additional $800. The painiting was sloppy and dripped inside the window, requiring us to scrape interior and exterior surfaces and windows later. Kevin was rude and shouted at me with various insults during this effort to clarify expectations on this part of the job.He is very difficult to work with. The next problem was much more significant. Kevin's Painting left the project on the day it was to be completed with it not being complete, Please see attached photos. Because I was leaving the house for the day, he requested his final check with the agreement that the project was to be completed. He assured me that two porches would be completed when I returned and he would return on Saturday morning to paint the last porch so that I could enter the house when I returned. He stated that he needed to pay his employees before the weekend. When I hesitated and reminded him that the contract said when the work was completed, he began shouting, swearing, and threatened to put a lien on my property. The statement in the contract was fhe final payment was due upon completion. He told me that the porches would not take long and would be completed early in the day. Again, he began shouting, demanding and threating liens. This had been a contentious relationship and I decided without enough thought to write the final check. I was looking forward to the job being completed, because it had been such an unpleasant experience. When I arrived home, I found a terrible mess and called Kevin. I wanted to be sure that he saw the mess that I saw when I arrived home. He and his painters did return the next day and stated that the mess was my fault as I had told given them inaccurate information about what paint I had used the last time I had painted these porches. I called the company I had bought the paint from, who sent a representive out to my house. The paint store representative stated that it did not matter about the sort of paint I had used previously, The paint they had sold me would work in either case. The paint store representative told us that Kevin's Painitng was using the wrong type of roller on the job. Kevin and his crew walked off the job. I made several phone calls to inquire about when he was going to finish the project. During these calls, Kevin swore at me, shouted, would not stay on the topic of what his plan was to finish the job, and refused to give me a correct physical address. Please see photos. Getting no response and then with his not picking up the phone calls, I determined that I needed to hire another painter to remove the paint applied by Kevin's Painting and repaint the porches. I determined that the best way to recover the funds for the project already paid for and not completed was to go to small claims court. I had not realized that the contracts did not have a physical address when I had signed them. I began searching for his physical address using the Internet. I found that he had several claims which had been filed in small claims and that he had defaulted on the judgement on several of these. I found various addresses in the court work. This was a very frustrating experience and it ended in a totally unacceptable manner.
Description of Work: I contracted with Kevin's Painting to paint the exterior of the house, including windows between the storms, the front, side, and screened porches, including the ceilings, uprights and floors. In getting the estimate, Kevin and I discussed the needed glazing for the windows and how to remove the aluminum storms/screens. The additional cost of the glazing was included in the contract as were the statements outlined above. I expected the painting to be completed in April, but it was not started until August, after several calls to inquire about the starting date. The work on othe porches was never completed, because Kevin and his employees left the job and would not return. His work was fast, messy and not acceptable.
