I’ve used this service for three years and my lawn looks worse than it ever has. I wouldn’t leave this review, but unfortunately after being threatened to be taken to small claims court over $68 I feel the need to share my story. I received a letter last fall saying they were switching over to ACH, in order to continue service you had to update your account with ACH info. I thought, great! I don’t want to continue because my lawn looks terrible after 3 years of using them so I won’t update to ACH. Fast forward to spring 2022, someone comes and does first round and leaves an invoice. I email and say I was surprised to see the invoice (since I hadn’t updated to ACH payments) and honestly my lawn is awful and I don’t want the service. They say I had to provide 30 day written notice to cancel. Invoice is still due. I asked someone to come look at my lawn, no one comes. I call them a couple months later because my lawn looks EVEN WORSE if possible.. (huge thistles, weeds of every variety) I tell them I do not feel that I should have to pay this invoice for a service I didn’t expect to receive on top of the fact that 3 years of service has clearly not been effective. I showed pictures since no one would come out.. literally all I get in response is a threat to take me to small claims court if the invoice isn’t paid. Like after all the money I had already paid wasn’t enough, they really want to fight a customer over $68 rather than trying to mend a situation. All in all, they don’t care about you or the service they provide.

We had a structural engineer inspect the wall because it is falling and said probably not built up to specs he gave for the project and was taken to court we won and he has never paid the court ordered judgement NEVER HIRE HIS BUSINESS !!!!!!!!!

Terrible! They basically left me with a lawn, which has everything except what a lawn should have -- "normal" grass. I currently have a lawn consisting of weeds, dandelions, crab grass, water grass, dead spots, etc. Currently searching for a new company. Avoid Greg's Lawn like you would the plague!

The worst. Avoid. Overbilling and poor work are common. You know you're getting ripped off when you have to go outside and fix what they've bungled. The lady in the billing office is extraordinarily rude... at least she used to be. I chose to not speak with her ever again.

Terribly. Accidently ran over a pine tree Ihad put in the year before. Did it while I was out. Did not tell me about it although we had several conversations after the fact. When I finally realized it was gone (It was one of many so I didn't realize it right away) crew leader said he forgot to tell me ... yeah right. Said he'd replace it. Never did, so I with held cist of tree plus one year's growth from my payment. Also, grass seed cometely washed out by PREDICTED rain and they said they'd reseed. Didn't. LOUSY COMPANY. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Badly. Don't trust these guys. They are SLOW. The quality of the work is piss poor. They will promise you all sorts of things and never deliver on them. Their idea of $600 lawn re-seeding is to sprinkle $10 worth of grass seed on hard-packed dirt. The patio they built has a low spot in the middle where dirt collects after a rainstorm. They don't put landscape fabric or weed killer down beneath mulch. They don't do any watering of the trees, bushes, or grass that they plant. They don't put down boards to protect your existing lawn from damages from their machinery They promised me the following items that they never delivered upon: 1. Build a small berm to direct water away from the rear of the house. 2. Install a raised drain cover on the storm drain to help keep grass clipping out. 3. Install a small drain behind the house in case water backs up there. The only reason I am not giving these guys an "F" is because they did improve the drainage situation somewhat.

We are pretty happy with them. They are very good. They are very professional and stand by their work.

I have a small, shaded lawn and they used a huge stand on mower that ripped up what little grass would grow with it's turns. The fertilizer and weed treatment they provided for 3 years seemed to do nothing but breed grubs. I gave them a full 3 years and my yard was one of the worst in the neighborhood. As far as fertilizing and weed treatment, they have no idea what they are doing. One treatment after I hired TruGreen, my front yard looked like a professional golf course. No idea what magic they did, but it worked!

What I wanted was the tree to be trimmed up on the south side to allow more light to my garden, which was full sun three years ago. A good chunk of the garden was not getting light till late in the afternoon. The guys did a super job! The tree still has a great shape to it, and as far as lighting up the garden, it could not have been any better. I was hoping that what I wanted would work. It both worked and exceeded my expectations. Good clean up! I would definitely recommend. Paul PS: I gave a B for price, only because I have nothing to compare with. I will not mention the type of customer service, and total lack of communication, I received from other tree trimmers in Cedar Rapids. I try not to use such language. I believe the quote from Greg's, and price paid, was very reasonable.

What I liked about them is that they were very prompt in coming out and were very professional. We had a retaining wall that is going to be torn down and replaced and then they were going to take the limestones from the retaining wall they tore down and basically recycle that and use it for steppers and I did like the idea of recycling those. The reason we didn't use them is because they were twice as expensive as the others.

They are excellent. They do fabulous work!

Unfortunately,. they used a herbicide that killed a bunch of our trees. That was bad enough but they weren't going to do anything about it until we badgered them about compensation.. Eventually they and the herbicide company paid to replace some of our trees, but it wasn't worth the hassle of dealing with these guys again. Also, they tried to f**** an "opt out" agreement with us. That is, unless we told them in writing that we did NOT want them to treat our lawn, they would assume our contract with them was still valid and that they'd continue to treat our lawn and bill us. I didn't like that. and I wouldn't use them again.

The work was adequate but not as good as expected. Workers were careless. Example: not paying attention to which way debris spit out of mower and sprayed neighbor's house and car with gravel resulting in dents and paint damage.

They are really good about responding when you call. They are very friendly and usually can make it out the same day.

The first year, they came and did the fall cleanup (raking, etc) before my leaves even fell from my trees. In fact, I didn't even realize they had done it. I called them after the leaves dropped and asked when they were going to come and they claimed they already did. I'm not sure what I got charged for the first pass, but they made a big deal about how they were being inconvenienced by being asked to come back again. And of course, I got charged a second time for the same service. They told me that the following year I should put that on my contract to not come until early Nov, which I did. The second year (last summer), not sure what the deal was, but I ended up having to mow myself in preparation for both Mother's Day and Memorial Day. The grass was so long that it really looked like heck so I did it myself so it would look nice for my family coming. They had the nerve to call and complain to me that I mowed my own grass. Said they were going to drop me if I kept doing that. And when I talked to the owner, he was just gross on the phone--talking to other people at the same time and sniffing in a really disgusting way. The other adventure I had was that several of my pine trees died around the bottoms (see pic). I gathered a bunch of people and we trimmed the trees up. A few months after we did that, I received a letter from Greg's saying some chemical they used could have harmed evergreens and to submit a claim if I was affected. Well, by then it was too late--I had done the work myself and had no receipts to request reimbursement. The other notable thing they do is they don't raise the deck when going over uneven parts of the yard and it scalps my yard (see pic). The fall cleanup last year however was later and better. This year, they didn't have me sign a contract--just said if you don't notify them, you are considered to have agreed to pay for the services you had last year. I'm pretty sure next year they won't be on my list of people to hire. I'm enclosing some pics of my yard and trees taken April 27, 2012. They have been maintaining my yard for 2 summers.

Basically, not pleased with their service, esp considering how much it cost,.

A absolute nightmare First act, they came out a just threw bark around the shrubs and did not remove any sod so I had to call them back. The coordinator, Blake, came and and said he would fix the problem. The next evening I could see that an edge where sod was removed. But...the next day my next door neighbors invisible fence for their dog no longer works and they hired a local company that find two cut sections about two feet adjacent to where were cutting sod. Second act, I called back Blake, he was very sorry what occurred to the neighbors and told me they will pay my neighbors $120 bill. I'm satisfied and tell my neighbors to send a copy of the bill to Greg's attention Blake. I then pay the balance of my landscaping bill and all is well, right..... Third act, the neighbors fence repair bill is not paid and I find out in August when they stop by my house and give me their bill. I'm confused so I call Greg's and ask for Blake. I'm told Blake no longer works there (that explains it, just a misunderstanding right) and ask to speak to Greg the owner. He informs me he will not pay my neighbors bill because I signed an agreement that all utilities lines were my responsibility ( guess I should have had the neighbors sign the contact also huh) and he cited some legal buzz. I told him Blake agreed to pay so he angrily said he would try to call Blake to confirm and call me back. Now, no call back , I leave messages that he does not return... Fourth, now I look at the job they did and grass is growing all in the shrub line.....why, because I now see they only removed the edge line of sod and never did remove it all....just covered it with bark... Summary Neighbors upset, paid for a service never delivered, no quality and no ethics Run like the wind from this outfit Poor quality and no ethics Run like the wind from this place. Update: I do recognize that I signed a waiver of claims for ultilites et.al for my property, as stated and per provided, I did however, not ask my neighbors to sign MY contact, I DID show Greg's staff the lot line (which is obvious) nor did I OR my neighbors aurthorize Greg's to trepass on their property, on which this damage was inflicted upon. If this fence were on property I fully concur and agree it was my reponsibility, it however was not. So potential customers if you use Greg's in the future please be aware YOU are responsible for any damage they cause not only to your property but to the property of your neighbors, passers by, etc. as well...let the buyer beware
