flooring contractor
+ -1 moreHe came in - delayed and delayed - asked for more money AFTER he cashed 2 checks and nothing was yet done. Before we had him install floor we had him check clearance of door and he said it would be fine. When he left, the back (exterior) door wouldn't open as the flooring was too thick! When he was asked about it he said it was our problem! After he had said before the job it would be fine! He wanted us to cut the (vinyl) door! Upon consulting 4 door companies and various contractors they said, "heck no," as we would have a gap at the bottom and would be susceptable to water damage and insullation loss. Our only 2 choices they said we had was replace floor or replace/raise door. Needless to say $2,000 more later our door now opens. Dont use his guy! Unprofesional, charges too much, was constantly delaying and is incompentant. Beyond that he left a HUGE mess when he left. I see he posted his own ratings above. I'd give him an F!

Description of Work: It began ok - $1000 to install the floor. Paid the man w/ two checks. One for down payment (1/2) the other for the the remainder. Both checks were cashed and both checks cleared. When the day came to install the floor he said (this is after two weeks of waiting) the floor had too much moisture to install so we would have to wait another week and he would put in a dehumidifier. Come day of install he says we need to replace subfloor (which was fine as I saw it was damaged) but it would cost an extra $675...which I gave him a check for. He ran to bank and said because it didn't clear he would have to postpone the install until it cleared. This is after we have paid him the $1000 for the initial install. We asked for him to wait until next Wednesday to cash check as we didn't budget for the extra $700 and he refused telling us he couldn't do anything until the $675 cleared. My wife spoke w/ him and he says he will accept a postdated check until Wednesday and put in subfloor today. I will put in more later today...we will see. So far I have given this man $1000 and a postdated check for $675 and no floor yet...don't use this guy...he has cashed both checks for the $1000 and as of June 5th 11:30 a.m. No floor...
