Colony Heating and Air Conditioning

Our furnace went out in January, and they were here within an hour and a half after I called them. He had it fixed within a half an hour. It was 30 years old, and he offered to refund the cost of the new control that he put in if I bought a new furnace. I was due for a new furnace. They put it in a couple of weeks later, for a very good price. I had good workers that did it. I was very impressed with them. It was a sub-zero day when they came. It was 11 below 0 when they started. You have to have a lot of confidence and capability to change out a furnace on a day like that. They got it done and it worked great. We were really happy with that.

They were prompt and efficient and polite. I called Colony to ask a question about the new furnace in the afternoon of the installation day, and someone came right back out to my house to check on things.

Work was done in one day and in poor weather conditions. The guys did a good job of putting down tarps to keep the house clean while the work was done and cleaned up well afterwards. Both the fireplace and heater were installed professionally and work great.

Colony arrived when they said they would installed the furnace and air on the first day and returned the following day to install the water heater and family room furnace. They left the home clean and removed all their waste. The men were polite and willing to work with me to allow my dogs time to do their duty. I care about my dogs and this made me happy with their service. To be honest 25 years ago I had colony install a 90% furnace and 11 air conditioner. I had two service call on the furnace and one on the air conditioner in 25 year. Each time they showed up promptly and fixed the units on the same trip. Because of the great service I received from Colony and the dependability of the Trane units I did not elect to take bids from other contractors. I figured there was not that much difference in price worth risking lousy service. (Besides I had multiple bids 25 years ago and they were low) Colony also did a furnace check for flow and efficiency and filled out the rebate form from the gas company for $900. I truly like Colony and would encourage you to contact them, they are a company that does the job right both in installation and service.

I am using them from now on. They provided excellent service but the main reason I switched is because the city assessor was here and noticed issues with my recent furnace installation. I asked him which companies have less installation issues and he said Colony consistently installations were the best, even better than what code requires. Their customer service was also excelkent.

It was great. They are awesome. They came out and did some problem solving with us so they went down and gave us different options. They told us that we could call them if we weren't happy with the options. So they were very good to work with. They weren't above and beyond than anybody else on price. They picked up everything and cleaned up after themselves so it didn't look that they came out to work. Anytime we emailed them, they replied back in a couple of hours. They were here right when they said they would and did the job on time too.

Really well, they checked things out and then looked at some possible reasons for my problem. When the repair man wasn't completely sure of the source of my issue, he helped me get a residential installer scheduled to come give recommendations for repair.

Their quote was very detailed and thorough, it was just too much for my budget.

It needed a new air filter in the blower system. It had not been changed in 3 years-no one mentioned it at the time of purchase of a new condominium. They noted that it had to be changed every 3 months. They gave us the right size to get, and there have been no problems since.

They were very helpful in coming out to the house first to take a look at the situation and give us an estimate. They also helped us choose a gas fireplace that was appropriate for our home. Installation took several visits: One to remove the old fireplace, one to have someone come in and finish the the drywall that the original builders left incomplete, and then another visit to actually install the new fireplace. We now have a beautiful, new fireplace and significantly less draftiness.

They were great. They did a great job.

Provider came in $20 cheaper than others in the area. Also, I got more for my money with Colony. Two more vents than the other providers. They worked quick and installed duct work in about 4 hours. They were quick on giving me a quote and ready to start the job. Even during the coldest periods in Iowa when the demand for their services were high.

Colony's techs all get our Hero Of The Day Award. Here's why: Despite being very busy with everyone else's heating issues, Colony got a tech out to us within hours of our call. He told us the furnace was still under full parts-and-service warranty. (The people we purchased our house from one year ago did not share that with us.) It turns out there were multiple issues, and they all got fixed. It was frustrating because, after each fix, we thought we were good to go, only to realize the furnace had stopped again. Although we had to call a tech out several times, every visit resulted in another issue being addressed. Steve, the service dispatcher, was challenged to find the tech who get get to us most quickly (lots of heating issues in the -20 temps, remember), but he called us to keep us abreast of his progress. Once Steve found a tech who was available, he showed up at our house very promptly. Our new BFF is Ed, who came out twice and was the one who made the final repair. Despite the fact that he didn't leave our house until nearly 9 p.m., he called in less than 12 hours just to make sure everything worked well throughout the night. There's no doubt that, if ever we need heating or air conditioning help in the future, we'll call Colony to do it.

This company has done well resuscitating our older system. We knew we would use them when we had the funds to replace the system. No pressure discussion on needs. Appointment made and kept. Gentlemen were courteous and professional. System runs great (both heating and cooling)

The question -- Why is the house I am about to buy so hot? Is there anything wrong with the unit that it preventing it from cooling the home? Now, I am an outcome based person, so this is why I will likely not use them again...at least for a while. With this question, they came out, inspected, loaded some refrigerant and called it good. The problem as I later learned was that the unit was installed well before a new addition was added to the home, adding roughly 25% more square feet, almost a 30% cubit feet to heat/cool. While the a/c unit works fine, it is insufficiently sized for the home and will need to be replaced if we ever want the home less than 85 degrees in July/August, and a whopping $300 increase in energy bills to keep it that low. Ideally they would have stated the unit was undersized before we bought the new home so that the upgrade costs could have been factored into our decision. Note: they were used because they previously upgraded the furnace to heat the home in the winter, but made no changes or recommendations to cool the home in the summer.

I have had very good service so far. They were pleasant and they cleaned up after themselves. They were very honest. I have used them for a long time.

When we realized that our air conditioner was not running like it should, we called several other places, but none were willing to come to help us on a Friday after 5PM. The technician returned our call and was there within a couple hours. He quickly found the problem and got us running again. The costs were reasonable concidering the time of day, and I was very satisfied with the results.

Great. Tech arrived on time. Left a detailed note of service performed and was priced as expected.

Provide good info when doing the estimate. Recommended a less expensive system that what I was considering. Pointed out what issue I may have if I went with installing a humidifier without a water softener. Good overall professionalism.

Great. As always, I was informed of the current condition of both units and what, if any, out-of-the-norm maintenance was needed. Colony has serviced my furnace and AC units since they installed them in 2006. Their professionalism and dependability during that installation convinced me that they are worth every penny paid.

They were quick to come to the house for an estimate and wrote it up while at the house. I had a couple estimates previously complete and Colony was the same price for a better brand and higher SEER A/C unit. I gave them the go on a Friday and they were onsite the following Tuesday to install. The installers were friendly and got the job done in a professional manner.

They did a good job. They were here on time. They came and did what they were supposed to do and everything was great. They did an excellent job. They came when they said they were going to come. I guess they were 100% responsive. They set a date and time and they were here.

The estimator showed up at the time we scheduled, and provided a through assessment of what needed to be done to get our wood burning stove back up and running safely. The quote he provided was shortly after his visit, and completion of the job followed shortly there after. Bottom line, quick, quality, professional service.
