Carpets Plus Color Tile

They did not provide a complete estimate. Was billed for a higher amount to include additional materials that were not discussed. Have tried to go back twice to get resolution, first to sales person and then to manager. Offered to split the difference, we are only talking about $200, told they would get right back to me, still no call back after 3 weeks.

We had 1 week between closing on our house and moving and went to a few flooring places to get an idea of what was out there, and asked if getting carpet in before our move was possible. We knew that this was about impossible on that short of a time frame, but we were told by Carpets Plus that if we picked something they had in stock, they would make it happen. It cost more than the big box stores, but we went with it with the prospect of arriving on move in day with new carpet. Two days before we moved I checked in and was assured it would be done, or near done, when we arrived with the moving truck. I will say that most of the contact after the sale was initiated by me, which didn't sit well. Anyway, we arrived in the moving truck and opened the door to our home to find that the pad was down and the carpet was not installed, cut but not installed, and installation tools laying out. It was 4pm Saturday afternoon, so we could not reach anyone at Carpets Plus (and did not hear anything until Monday morning in response to messages left Saturday). We ended up unloading in to the garage and trying to navigate the carpet flap left on the stairs to the basement to try and keep things off the carpet so it could get stretched in. Sunday morning a surprised installer rings the doorbell not expecting anyone to be home. He was under the impression that we were not moving until later in the week. Remember, I was assured it would be installed Saturday. Long story short, the installation was completed Monday morning, a full 2 days late. Carpets Plus made no real effort to make it right (but blame the installer). I went in to talk to them and they agreed to take the equivalent of $200 off of the $7400 total for our troubles. I was also told they would sell me the 150 sq ft of engineered wood flooring we were planning to put in our dining room at cost, which would have been a huge savings, so I agreed to this deal. We went in and picked out the flooring and asked them to work the sale. They provided us a proposal for the flooring at a discount of 5 cents per square foot and a full install - full price. They did take off $100 for an internet coupon they were running. I told them I was confused, and I was told they had been more than fair in what they offered on the carpet (the $200). The carpet is great and the installer (contracted by the store) did an excellent job. Carpets Plus I can not recommend. Their website states, "At CarpetsPlus Color Tile we strive to be in the customer’s view, the best service company in the business and we try to meet and exceed their expectations with professionalism, enthusiasm, pride and an empowered “whatever it takes” attitude." They did whatever it took to get our money. They also state, "Upon the choosing of your flooring needs, we will remain in constant communication with you to update you on the order process, the delivery process and the installation time frame. There should never be a moment where you are wondering where the process and project are at." We spent all weekend wondering what happened. The moral, if it is too good to be true it probably is.
