Andrew did a very professional job providing inspection on a new condo townhouse. He pointed out missing items, potential areas for problems in the future, and general advice on things to think about related to the house. On the day of the inspection, he had to forgo running the water in the showers and bathrooms because of leftover debris. During the house walkthrough a few days later, a leak was detected in the drain from one of the bathrooms. When Andrew was made aware the leak, he did not hesitate to offer another check, with no additional charge, of the plumbing after the leak had been fixed and the plumbing thoroughly checked out by the builders. Results of the home inspection was documented in a professionally-compiled report handed out the day of the inspection.

Absolutely top notch first class service. Personable, professional, thorough, accommodating. You can tell he truly cares about his clients. We were given a spiral bound book with all of the details of our inspection on site, including pictures and a reference list for companies and people he has worked with for various home repairs and services. It was made very clear that we can call with any questions or concerns that may arise with our new home.

Andrew did the whole home inspection and then spent about 2 hours with me explaining each aspect of the report in depth. He also took me around the property and answered any additional questions I had. Andrew was professional and courteous. He charged a fair price for his work. This inspection was a good investment.

Andrew is professional and genuinely a nice guy. He provided us with a bound detailed report upon our arrival to go over the inspection of a home we are purchasing. He went over everything and was very thorough. We asked him to walk through the home and discuss a few extra items and at no point did our meeting feel rushed. We would highly recommend him.

It went well. I was provided with a booklet containing pictures he had taken of potential issues with the house I'm buying. He provided safety problems specific to having a small child in the house that I would not have noticed. He also gave advice on things to consider when I install a new roof for leak protection and better attic ventilation. There were several small electrical issues such as needing GFCI outlets and putting labels on the breaker box. Also, he found that some of the GFCI outlets were not testing properly with an outlet tester. Overall, I felt very informed and comfortable knowing the type of maintenance I will be doing in the next few years. There are no major structural or safety issues, but I think if there had been, Andrew's comprehensive inspection would have found it.

Andrew is amazing. We were buying a new construction home and he found all kinds of things, some smallish (hot and cold water taps were backwards, including on the washing machine!) some huge (missing bonding screw on the electrical panel). As first-time homebuyers his information was great, very helpful to us, and Andrew looked at and explained EVERYTHING we asked him to. He's great! Use him! He's friendly and smart and helpful. He pointed out things that would be down-the-road maintenance issues, too, which is really great for us. His report was thorough, came on time when he said it would, he was responsive both before and AFTER we paid him. I'll use him again in a heartbeat and recommend him very highly.

The inspection started on time, I arrived on site a few minutes late and he had already started. As part of the inspection, Andrew inspected the home room by room and seemed to look at everything. He is not an expert on any systems, and made it clear that he could only confirm a specific system was present and give a rudimentary opinion on things like furnace condition, AC condition, etc. I understood those limitations, as I was really hiring him to look at evidence of things i might miss like evidence of water damage,bowing walls, damaged roof structure; in other words, things that are not obvious but that you expect an inspector to know about. He was punctual, went through what seemed like everything, and produced a report. He was able to schedule a radon inspector and pest infector that he works with. That is very convenient from a customer perspective. He was responsive to email and phone calls, and "on the ball". I wish I could reccomend him. We moved in the house and on move-in noticed one of the toilets had its shut-off valve turned off. We turned it on and the next morning had water pouring out of the ceiling. I went back to my report and there was no mention of the toilet being turned off, or any closer inspection as to why it was turned off. I emailed Andrew to let him know this happened and to tell him I was surprised nothing was in the report about a toilet valve being off; a leaking toilet valve is something that should be obvious to an inspector. His response was to confirm nothing was in his report. That's it. I feel like he missed something important and when called on it, didnt come through, or even apologize for missing something important. Im not able to recommend him based on his response when faced with a professional mistake. I wish I could because he's everything you are looking for otherwise; responsive contractor that is reasonably priced and is technology-able. But he doesnt stand behind his work and that trumps everything else.

Andrew was great, responsive and wonderful to work with. Our Agent had recommended other inspectors, but after a week of getting jerked around by one guy about scheduling and finding poor reviews for others... We reached out to other contacts. Our friends recommended Andrew to us and Angie's list backed up his reputation. When we called to schedule, he was able to work us in within a week. He was very thorough and provided us with a complete spiral bound copy of our inspection report including photos and diagrams regarding maintenance areas. As new prospective homeowners, we also appreciated the great information he provided regarding what we should expect for lifetime maintenance and a list of companies that he vouched for should we need someone (i.e. contractors, handy-man, his insurance agent.) He also set up the Radon inspection and had it completed before our home inspection date, so we didn't have to worry about scheduling and fitting it in before closing. Overall, I would recommend Andrew with A Closer Look, LLC. to anyone needing a home inspection.

At the time, I thought the experience was good. However, I now feel differently. In the June following our inspection we noticed parts of the roof falling off after a storm, so we contacted our insurance company. The inspector they sent told us that our shingles were disintegrating, and the product itself was under a mass lawsuit for being defective. Unfortunately, our insurance didn’t cover the cost of our new roof because the problem was defective shingles, and not storm damage. I wish A Closer Look would have made us aware of the faulty roof, because that information would have helpful when negotiating closing costs. The lawsuit against the product had been ongoing since the early 2000s.
