Owner arrived and provided quote and then pressured us to make a decision to start job and give him a check 1/3 of payment. Workers that showed up worked very slowly, would stand around leaning on shovels and were sporadic about the hours. Would tell me lies like he hauled out 4 loads of concrete remnants from pool- it was actually one piece about one foot wide and tall. Said he hauled in additional dirt, then retracted it, took out existing mature plants that is specified in contract that I wanted reused and did not replant leaving me with additional cost of plants to replace. Poor morals, lies a lot, and is very rude when you explain something was not done to your satisfaction. My neighbors work nights and were on their deck most of the day and could confirm what was moved, done, hauled, etc. When he was fired from the job he then said I was a racist and two of his African-American employees did not feel comfortable on the job. I never met any of the workers, and only knew their were people of color on the job because in a telephone conversation said he had a worker quit because he didn't like to work and said "you know some of those black people don't like to work but I was just giving the guy that worked for me, son's a chance."
