For as long as we've been in business, a bathroom remodel has never taken us eight months from start to finish. Whether the project is small or is a multi-million dollar project, we do it right and in record time. The deal with remodeling projects is that it is often on the customers time. The only time a project takes remotely any time what so ever is due to things out of our control. Some times customers decide to frame up walls themselves. Some work at their own pace. We encourage customers to get their hands dirty and are more than welcome to the idea of them being part of their project, especially if their skilled in a trade or have passion. With us, we give our customers the flexibility to do as much or as little as they're willing to do. We encourage our customers to do what they know how to do and often guide them in the right direction if they feel they want to push their so called limits/experience on a project. We want the customer to feel comfortable and confident about the process. In the end we want the customer to be happy with the end result. We use subcontractors who are all bonded, insured and licensed in the trades that they work in. While we can do a project from start to finish, we leave the drywall and tiling to the experts that do it day in and day out. Most companies we deal with have been in business for decades and there's a reason for that. The drywall company is a multi-generation company that we have used. We have never heard anything negative about them. Throughout this entire project, we heard absolutely zero issues about them from the customer. We have pictures of everything and we're always willing to address any issues that you may have. None of the work that was done had to be redone. There was a minor issue with the tile, which was addressed. Finished off with a tile transition piece. After the tile installation the customer wasn't 100% satisfied with the results. While this isn't solely on us, the tile company was more than willing to come back to take a look at it and go over any concerns that she had. Throughout the project the customer has been unresponsive, especially towards the end. Multiple employees from our company as well as the tile company have made an exhausting amount of attempts to get a hold of the customer without response. Phone calls have been made with voicemails left as well as plenty of emails without response. When the customer finally responded, she claims we never communicated with her. Yet, we have a call trail from our company as well as communication history from our tile company on what days and times they made an attempt to schedule to come take a look at the issue she had. Her response was, "...he knows where we live..." So in the customers opinion, we're suppose to not call or email her but just show up unannounced. We schedule everything and if we cannot get a hold of you then there's no way to know when you're ready or available. We have crews that strictly do plumbing remodels day in and day out. We care about every single customer and even though our schedules get filled up quickly, we always make it work and would of squeezed you in for a time that worked for you. I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion you did after how everything concluded. We strive for satisfaction and we've been in communication throughout. We buttoned up on the issue that you had. Price has never changed and has been the same before the project started as displayed on the contract.

They scheduled a time, showed up when they said they would, and took care of the problem. They previously installed 3 new toilets and a sump pump for us. They respond quickly, do good work, charge fairly, and we LOVE that they are local and will use them again. Highly recommended!

The plumber arrived on time and went immediately to work. He installed a new shower head in a matter of minutes and then went to work on replacing the shutoff valve to one of our toilets and fixing a leaky faucet. When the work was finished he explained it took him a little longer than anticipated due to the original installation. He did a great job and it took him about an hour to complete all three items on our list. I read in an earlier review that this company was not up front with some of their cost estimates. In my experience this could not be farther from the truth. They explained the cost estimates from the first time I talked to them on the phone until the final bill was completed. Premier Plumbing did a very nice job for me and I will not hesitate to call them again when I need plumbing work.

Thank you very much for your business and your kind review! Customer initially contacted us via the message system on Angieslist. We followed up promptly informing him that one of our service dispatchers (name of who was going to be calling was provided) to call him directly to go over in detail what he wanted done as well as answer some of the questions that he had at that time. After that the dispatcher would pencil in a time that worked most convenient with the homeowner. As it has been mentioned here as well as in the past, we will always answer any questions a customer has before, during and after service has taken place. When a customer calls initially we will always go over details with the customer which are not limited to: what to expect, our rates/policies, ask and answer questions, and so fourth. We want the customer to feel comfortable throughout the entire process. We're happy to hear that you were satisfied with the entire process. Thank you so much for your business! It is greatly appreciated!

Description of Work: I hired them twice. The first time everything went smoothly. Two weeks later I had them back out to replace a copper pipe on my water heater. The tech was an hour and a half late and then overcharged me on both labor and parts. When I called their office to ask about my bill, I spoke with someone, and I don't remember his name, who would not listen to a word I said. He defended his tech and said it was my word against his. He then via email pointed out all the mistakes I made. I told him the wrong length of pipe I needed and he said "there's a REASON we ask our customers these questions". I will never call them again.

Response from Premier Plumbing, Inc.
The review portrayed is quite unjust to what actually took place. Customer not once was dissatisfied with the products and service provided. It's astonishing how you came to the conclusion that you have with all things considered. We also had the willingness to listen as well as work with you on what you felt was in question. I will touch over the first call briefly. She initially called us as she wanted her faucet replaced in her basement bath. Customer already had the faucet that she wanted replaced (supplies and shut offs were also requested to be replaced as well). At Premier we allow our customer to supply parts or we can supply a wide variety of products. Since she had the faucet already we went and scheduled the appointment that worked most convenient for her, came out and replaced the faucet. We then got a second call from her requesting that we run new gas line to her water heater (replaced the copper with counterstrike). During the call the homeowner mentioned that only about 3 feet of piping needed replaced. Which we will touch more on momentarily. During the call the service dispatcher will obtain information from the customer as well as ask questions that are deemed appropriate so that we can get a general idea of what we're working with. This also allows the service vehicle to be stocked or restocked if anything on the vehicle is low. We ask these questions to customers that we feel are necessary as we're experienced in what we do and it works best to have the correct information so we can get a general idea of what's going on no matter the call. We want to arrive to your property, pull the parts needed from the service vehicle and get the job done as quickly and as efficiently as possible. This results in saving on your wallet. We've been doing this for decades and we always try to do what we can to make sure the customer is happy. During this time we were running a lot of gas piping calls. More than usual. In the same manner as when it rains and an increase in sump pump and/or back-up pumps pour in. Typically we order in 50 ft or 100 ft rolls of counterstrike. Since this call in particular called for a very short run of piping replacement the service tech brought a remaining portion of a roll from a previous call, which was 10 feet, thinking that was more than enough according to the information we were provided. The service tech arrived on site and quickly got to work. Shortly after it was quite evident that the tech didn't have enough piping with him as it ended up measuring out to around 11 ft 3/8. At this time the customer stated to our tech that was on site that she made a mistake and did tell our service dispatcher that she only told us about 3 ft would be required. Had we been given different information we would have just brought an entire roll with us. Since this tech had done some gas piping the day prior it sounded like we could just use the remaining portion of the roll that he already had on his vehicle. We stock pile the vans but we try to be as economically as possible. It makes no sense to cut into a 50 ft roll when a 10 ft piece sounded initially that it would be more than enough needed to get the job done. Instead the tech had to leave to go to Plumb Supply to pick-up a roll of counterstrike. The closest location was Des Moines so there's some time involved to drive there and back to get the material needed to get the job done. Once the tech came back, he went to work and got the job done. Compiled a time and material service ticket and wrapped up the call. The customer called in as she wanted to discuss her bill. When she was talking to us on the phone she seemed to have an issue with the labor that she was charged for the time involved. Since labor was in question we pulled records of the GPS that tracks the vehicles every move. There's a reason we have GPS on the vehicles. It's mostly used for when service dispatchers are going through the schedule they can pinpoint where technicians are at in real time. With that, gives us a map of their daily routine. Pulling up GPS, here's a run down of the time involved. Total time, including time to Plumb Supply: 8:57:18 AM - 10:49:47 AM. During our phone conversation with the customer, she became irate quite early into the conversation. She kept yelling that the tech only did 45 minutes worth of work but failed to have any sort of proof to back up such a claim. We just let her express what she felt wasn't right and we took that into consideration as we were willing to work with her. Customer had an issue with what she was charged for labor. Our service technicians are always generous when filling out service tickets. Two hours could have been billed but the bill initially was charged at 1 hour and 30 minutes. Even though customer mentioned that it was her mistake for providing inaccurate information to our service dispatcher which resulted in having our tech go get parts, we never put the blame on the customer. The homeowner felt it wasn't right that she was charged the time to run and get parts. In this situation, it would technically be billable. However, her bill was adjusted for only the time the tech was at the residence. Time involved: 8:57:18 AM - 9:06:48 AM. Vehicle then left to get parts. Arrived back to residence at 9:43:22 AM. Service completed at 10:49:47 AM. Time from 9:06:49 AM - 9:43:21 AM was time allocated to get to Plumb Supply and back to the residence. That puts the actual time at residence at 76 minutes, or 1 hour and 16 minutes (01:15:55 to be exact). Customer then wanted to take this further. Again making bold statements with little to no proof during the phone conversation. Either way, we again took her side. Her bill was also adjusted another 1/4 hour for another claim she had. Regardless, we were willing to work with you and did work with you. We're not understanding how you state we stood behind the techs side when what really happened was that we tipped the scale in your favor every single time for every single issue that you had. Customer has unrealistic expectations and she is unwilling to come to a compromise. At this point she's trying to work the system, take advantage of honest work. We appreciate every single customer that we conduct business with, but sometimes (super rare but it does happen) you can do everything and it's still not enough. We stand behind our work and our level of customer service that I don't believe you can expect elsewhere. Shortly after our conversation we also received a very nasty email as well as other acts of unprofessionalism from the customer that we deem irrelevant to the situation. Customer has provided more than enough evidence for us to flag her account and is no longer welcome to conduct business with us.

For the $18.00 part I was charged a total of $146.63. Trip charge $45.00 Labor $67.50 additional 6% on total $7.83 Tax $8.30 After the repair was done, I phoned the company to inquire about the cost and was told "if they drive, say, from West Des Moines they have to have" a trip charge, so I suppose they add it no matter what. Funny, the company is in Ankeny where I live, but maybe their residence is elsewhere? When he asked my name, and I told him, he said "oh you are one who has called before" and I said I would never need to call again. I had a huge problem with this company and a remodel project earlier on where the work they did had to be torn out and redone. At that time I involved the BBB and left a C review on Angie"s List. Also at that time I received a call from the Premier Plumbing boss threatening me if I did not remove the review, and he told me he did not like the fact people could review his company. Since I lived a few blocks from PP, I felt very uncomfortable and did remove the review. I gave them a second chance, and his time the current review will not be removed by me.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. For service calls we do have a bare minimum for labor that is charged. When you called in all of this was explained over the phone. When customers call this is explained to give a customer a heads up on what they're to expect before we come out to complete the service requested. We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have before or during the service. There have been too many times to count where customers call in and we will diagnose a problem over the phone and even guide them through some of the issues over the phone so that they can fix the issue on their own if they feel comfortable in doing so. Most are up to the challenge as we guide them through the process. We do this because we don't believe in overcharging customers or going out on a call when we can solve their problems from the first point of contact (phone call, walk-in customers, etc.). We're glad to know we could help as well as educate a customer on something they may not have been aware of prior. The main objective is to treat the customer right. We are an honest company and if there are opportunities available to help our customers save money by providing multiple options or solving their issue over the phone free of charge, we will do so every time. We are here to solve your problems and we're glad to serve this great community. I don't believe you can expect the same level from anyone else. The owner of Premier Plumbing has built multiple plumbing companies/divisions for others in the state of Iowa as well as Arizona before taking that level of expertise improving on their downfalls and starting his own company. We are a family owned and operated company. Premier is full of down-to-earth personnel willing to go past what is expected. We don't bend over backwards for people because we feel we have to, it is just the values that we hold within and simply because it’s just our norm. Your explanation of what happened is quite exaggerated. Premier Plumbing, Inc. had declined doing work for her because of her previous history with Premier from 2010-11. The fact of the matter is that she called us in July of 2014 requesting work to be done and we declined her request. She wanted Premier to do the work and after a discussion was made, we decided to give her another chance. During this time both parties also agreed that the review that was left was quite unreasonable and she offered to make the change. Let's be clear that we have went over and beyond for her. She also didn't call right away with questions on her bill or during or after the service was completed with the service technician. A service ticket was filled out after the service requested was completed. At this point everything is itemized and any questions are answered. The bill was paid by check and the service ticket was signed stating that the completion of the above described work was completed to satisfactory. Nearly a month later (keep in mind she signed and paid for the satisfactory work the day the work was completed); she calls in asking about her bill. As stated previously, everything was discussed and we made you aware of the billing. There's a reason why we have declined doing work for her in the past but we made an exception and gave her another chance after the discussion that was made by both parties. Come to find out that nothing has changed. She has some unknown vendetta against Premier Plumbing, of which we can't figure out why. We've bent over backwards for you. In return you decide to continue to contribute to part of the reason why we declined doing work for you in the first place. You can do everything right and go the extra mile and sometimes there's just no way to please someone. Lastly, did you also mention about our second trip out there? The work performed was to fix her toilet. She called us back because she couldn't get her garden hose off her outside sill faucet (this was NOT a plumbing issue but we went ahead and helped her). She had attempted to screw the hose onto the sill faucet but it was spraying everywhere when she turned on the water on (where the house and sill faucet join) because the hose wasn't on all the way/correctly. We went ahead and hand tightened this for her. She called us back because she couldn't get the hose off. We came back over and took the hose from the sill faucet off by hand. As stated, there were no issues with the sill faucet or anything that Premier plumbed. We came out to her address to fix her toilet. She needed assistance with getting her garden hose on and since we were there we tightened it up for her without hesitation. She could NOT get the garden hose off (this was tightened by hand). So we came back out and took it off completely. I always look at both sides of the table no matter what. I would recommend you doing the same. I sure hope that you will change your ways or there won't be any plumbing companies who will want to do work for you. The next time you come to realize the extra mile we have went with you, we won't be willing to make another exception. When conducting business we will always show a level of respect for our customers. There's a reason why our repeat customers come back. We always let actions speak louder than words and we have a laundry list of customers that I'm sure would be willing to give you their reason why they choose Premier every time.

The company was very responsive and punctual. They ended up replacing parts that did not need to be fixed and stretched an hour service call to three. When I talked with the owner and sought some refund, he was fairly unresponsive.

I called four different companies to get an estimate on having a second water meter and plumb for an irrigation system. One company just shot off a figure off the top of his head, for twice the amount of all the others. The other three companies sent people out to look at the work to be done. Not only was Premier Plumbing the only one to provide a written proposal, but they were very prompt with the proposal and with the work. The gentleman arrived on time and did the work in a timely fashion and he cleaned everything up - he even vacuumed the wood shavings in the grass! I am very pleased with the work done.

Premier Plumbing was referred to us by a friend. They were very accessible and came over to complete a quote in a short amount of time. We went to their showroom to discuss what plumbing fixtures were available. The staff was was very courteous and friendly. The work was scheduled within a few weeks. The work outlined above was completed in one day and on the original date scheduled. The finished product easily met our expectations, looked professional, passed inspection, and at a reasonable price. We would recommend using Premier Plumbing as they are very reliable and complete good work.
Description of Work: Premier Plumbing completed work on our new full bathroom and wet bar in our basement. The work conducted on the full bathroom included: moving the toilet approx. 5 inches from the initial plumbing stub; plumbing of shower/tub, toilet and sink; and installation of shower/tub, toilet, vanity top/sink, and ventilation fan. The work conducted on the wet bar included: plumbing of sink and water line for full size refrigerator; and installation of sink.

The faucet had, within the past couple weeks also been "repaired" by a handyman. The job required three visits, which made me a bit cranky, a feeling mitigated by all work being performed with polite professionalism. Trip and labor charges for the final two visits were dismissed, leaving me--to my relief--paying only for parts on those visits. I'd use them again because I liked the plumber who came. He removed his shoes (didn't have to, but I appreciated it), answered my questions, showed me where my main water turn-off was, explained what he was doing, and completely rebuilt the faucet.

[Member name removed] Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the problem couldn't be addressed on the first go around. With anything, the technician will always do a full test to diagnose the issue and also test again once the repair(s) have been made. With leaks, the second we walk out the door anything can happen. Putting into perspective, it's like your vehicle and the wear and tear that eventually will need fixed. Sometimes you have an annoying issue and then the second you take it in to your repair shop the same issue couldn't be replicated to properly diagnose. Then it seems the second you drive off the lot or soon after that annoying issue comes back. Except here, we did find the leak and made the proper repairs that were found at the time. Having someone prior to us doing any service wrenching on the faucet means inferior products could have possibly been used which could have caused other issues down the line. While rare, there's also the possibility that brand new parts become faulty as well. Most brands at one point or time do run into some faucets or other related plumbing products that they do have issues with and the manufacturer supersedes into an updated product that fixes on-going and well known issues associated with them. Our technicians are trained to pinpoint leaks and to make only repairs that deem necessary. It seems this was the case here. While our main objective is to fix the issue completely we're also trying to get the job done, be fair and be reasonable on pricing. The older the faucet, especially discontinued products, the harder it is to get parts for them. While we will fix anything, sometimes it's more reasonable to replace the entire faucet. We will often first ensure we can get all parts to repair the faucet and if the replacement parts aren't available due to them being discontinued then there's really only one option. We will always leave the decision up to the homeowner. We fully understand that many thoroughly enjoy the older products and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that! Sometimes there are replacement faucets that will look relatively similar, but again it depends on the product, age, demand, style/design trends, etc. to begin with. We also understand that most want all of their faucets to match (jack and jill bathroom or multiple bathrooms) and that's definitely a valid point and understandable, especially in the aesthetic department. We also understand that often those faucets are ones that you do enjoy and there's certainly no problem with that what so ever. As stated, we want to be fair to the customer and that's a reason why we ate the labor on the follow-up trips as the job should have been done on the first trip and unfortunately that wasn't the case here. While it doesn't happen often, leaks can sneak up on you. What's most important to Premier Plumbing is that you we're happy that the faucet was completely repaired and that you were happy with the work performed. As stated, we will do what needs to be done to make it right. Thank you for your business, we greatly appreciate it!

After the heavy rains and flooding of 2008, the City of Des Moines established a subsidy program for homeowners to help divert water from the sanitary sewer system. They offered to reimburse up to $1,000.00 for eligible improvements such as sump pumps, backwater valves, etc. In June of 2008 my 1928 house had 9 inches of water in the basement after a particularly bad storm. No one had ever installed a sump pump, and I needed one badly! I wanted it done this year before there was any chance of more flooding. I got three bids - 2 from Des Moines plumbers and 1 from Premier Plumbing in Ankeny. I liked Premier right away for their friendliness and professionalism. I was impressed that they were unaware of the Des Moines subsidy program and yet, even after I explained it, their bid was $865 plus the cost of the permit. The 2 companies from Des Moines bid right at or a hair above $1,000. I just felt Premier was more honest and the other 2 were taking full advantage of the City. My first call to Premier was on 5-26-09 and they were able to schedule the sump pump installation for the next afternoon. They called the morning of the 27th to let me know what to expect. The majority of the work was completed in 2 hours. They came back the morning of the 28th for about half an hour to finish the discharge piping. They had arranged for an inspector to come the morning of the 28th as well. They were efficient, thorough, cleaned up after themselves and explained the pump and how to care for it. I was extremely impressed with them and with how quickly they took care of everything. I would use this company again and highly recommend them to others.
Description of Work: They used a jackhammer to break through the concrete floor in the area of my basement where water tends to come in, used pea gravel to "bed" the sump pit, patched concrete around the pit, provided and installed the pump, piped the sump line up and out the exterior wall, installed a female connection on the exterior of the home, attached 25' of flexible hose to deliver discharged water away from the foundation.

I called for an appointment on Friday, and the work was scheculed for 7:30 AM the following Monday morning. The plumber was 1/2 hour late. He said there had been a Monday morning meeting. The work was done in less than an hour at the estimated price. Everything seems to work fine. I am happy with their service.

[Member name removed] Thank you for taking the time to write a review. The criticism is also greatly appreciated. Year after year Premier Plumbing has been growing and along the way there have been some growing pains associated with it. Years ago we've added more technicians as well as more personnel in the office to dedicate just to service. We strive to improve all the time and this is definitely one of the areas that we have improved on. With service the customer is called when the technician is on the way and if the tech runs into an issue beforehand (it does happen occasionally) the customer is called to ensure moving the time will work with their schedule and adjust accordingly. In short, communication has definitely improved and I believe comparing how scheduling was years ago to now is a night and day difference. Thank you for choosing Premier Plumbing, we appreciate your business!

The rain started to deluge our city. Water was backing up on the street to where you couldn't drive 2 cars down it as the gutters were filling up so quickly. Our sump pump was buzzing and was not pumping water. We lifted the lid, saw a bit of smoke puff up out of the pump area and we started to look for someone to help us because the water in the well was rising quickly and the rain kept coming down. We looked for someone, found this company, called to see if they would be able to come out quickly to help us repair a sump or replace it, and they were there within about 30 - 40 minutes at the outside. They quickly replaced the unit, hooked it up and took the old unit when he left. And, the price was not out of line with the sump pump prices we had found when we had been looking ourselves the past month or so. Before he left, we inquired about a back up system to protect our home and the gentleman said he'd checked into and call us back with in the next 15 minutes or so. He did just that. They were even able to set up an appointment that afternoon. We were supposed to have the second guy at the house about 1 and he did not show up until about 1:40, but that was fine, they were fitting us in that day! He worked hard, had us up and running with the backup in about 2 hours and the price was just what we were quoted when the first gentleman called us to let us know. Great group; would use them again.
Description of Work: Rain, rain, drives us crazy (right now) and especially when our sump pump died in the middle of a tremendously heavy rainy day. We called Premier, they came out quickly and were very professional and helped get us back on track with a new sump pump, great installation and decent pricing. When we asked about a water back up system for the sump, he checked into it, verified if they had the back up system we were discussing and set up an appointment for later that day! This way, if the power were to go out, we would be safe as long as the city's water lines stayed pressurized. It gives us peace of mind, considering 1/2 of our living area in our home is on the lower level where the sump pump was. We had not planned to do this at this time, as we were just preparing to get estimates from local plumbers when our old system died. The 2 different individuals that came to the house were professional, polite, worked hard, got the job done (and quite well) and their prices were decent. I would definitely use them again for anything we need done!

[Member name], Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We understand you took time out of your way to do so and it's greatly appreciated. Rain is never good, especially when you're sump pump isn't working at optimal performance. We're glad to hear that Premier Plumbing was able to turn your day around and get you back out of deep water. Thank you for your criticism on scheduling as well. During this time and currently we are going through growing pains year after year. We're happy to say that we do now have a service department dedicated to scheduling and a group of great technicians ready to tackle anything you throw at them. Scheduling has been great but we have and are always looking at ways at improving what we do. We're able to focus and drill down on scheduling more than ever and if a tech is running behind (it does happen from time to time), we like to provide the customer with updates and also call when the technician is on the way. Thanks again for choosing Premier Plumbing. Your business is greatly appreciated!

It went very well. When I called, I got Rick and we set up an appointment for an estimate. Once I accepted the estimate, I was able to get an appointment within just a couple business days. The two plumbers that came out were prompt, polite and cleaned up the work area leaving no debris behind. They were here just a couple hours. When the city arrived a couple days later to install a meter required, the city worker stated that whoever had done the plumbing did a great job.
Description of Work: We had plumbing installed in the house for an inground sprinkler system that we are having installed in our yard. Premier plumbing tied into our existing plumbing, installed a booster pump and installed all necessary pipe for our sprinkler system.
