I was a first time homebuyer, and would definitely recommend Charter House and their expertise to anyone looking for a home! The nervousness of buying for the first time was minimized by their great help!

I have been eagerly waiting for our (first) home purchase to be complete, so I could rave about Amy Meyer and Charter House Real Estate!! I work in customer service, and have high standards, which Amy exceeded above and beyond. She was ALWAYS available when we had questions, regardless of time or day, and was always pleasant and positive (even with incessant requests and questions on our end). On our closing day, I was sad to end our time working with her! Every step of the process with Amy and Charter House has been a breeze, and I recommend working with them a million times over.

Amy Meyer did an excellent job helping us find a home in this crazy West Des Moines market. Not only was she absolutely professional and knowledgeable about the process, but she was also a lot of fun to be around. My husband Jeremy and I worked with Amy to purchase our first home. I really can't thank Amy enough for helping us find our "perfect" first home! She made the process fun and easy. Amy was great to work with through our first home purchase. She was very responsive to emails and worked really hard to get showings set up for all of the homes we wanted to look at. A big plus was that she was extremely flexible on the times at which she was willing to meet us to look at properties, especially since both of us work out of town and had limited availability. When we found the home we wanted, Amy helped us get a great offer in as quickly as possible and made the whole process very smoothly. I can't say enough good things about Mark Charter and Amy Meyer of Charter House Real Estate! We owned our first home for over 10 years that we purchased without a realtor and instead worked through an attorney. We had mixed feelings with going that route again, but I was pretty certain I did not want to list my house with a realtor after some of the stories I have heard through the years. I contacted Mark after a friend referred me to him stating that he was knowledgeable, skilled, experienced and newly on his own. I can't help but get behind an underdog :) Mark came out to the house, walked us through the listing process, looked over the house and guided us through his competitive and reasonable pricing options. He explained that he was not going to pressure us or even contact us again. He was going to wait to hear from us and if he didn't, that was fine too. Well, if that is a tactic, it certainly worked on me. He might be newly on his own, but he is far from novice. Mark identified a buyer within a day of deciding to work with his firm and they made an offer after the second walkthrough. We were so impressed with his firm that we asked Amy Meyer to act as our buying agent. Amy is terrific! She orchestrated contractors and inspectors in and out of our home to minimize the time we had to be away from work. She was a knowledgeable and caring advisor to us from home shopping, to writing our offer all the way through our closing. Amy really cared about us and our family through the process. She will lose sleep if things are not working well for you. Definitely someone you want on your side! Again, I can't say enough good things about Mark and Amy. I was not excited to go looking for a realtor, but I'm certainly in debt to our friends who referred us to his firm. It made all the difference in transitioning to our new home!

I definitely recommend Charter House Real Estate! Mark sold our home in under 6 hours. He met with us, asked what we wanted, gave us his suggestions, and had our home on the market in a couple days. We were so grateful to not have to get our home "show ready" every night; especially because I ran an in home day care. Amy helped us get into the home of our dreams. It was a short sale, which made us nervous, but she knew exactly what she was doing. Nic helped us sign the seller's documents prior to closing so we had nothing to worry about. I was referred to Mark from an online site and he was one of three realtors listed as the top in Ankeny. Mark called me right away and one other also called. The third one never called me back. I had several questions to ask him and he answered them all to my satisfaction. He said he would not tell me what I wanted to hear but would give me a true market value on our house. I was very impressed after our Face to Face meeting and signed the listing with Mark. Our house was on the market for 13 days until a deal was signed. Amazing. 3) around 30 showings in the first two weeks of being listed, and a buyer two weeks from the day of my house being placed on the market. 4) a team behind mark who assisted with making the process painless and fast 5) mostly e-documents to sign. No scanning crap. Sweet 6) peace of mind. Reviews, slick website, business mindset - all traits of Marks business. I didn't want touchy feely. I wanted a sold house. Look guys the choice is obvious. I've laid it out for you as many have. Do yourself a favor and save some headaches. Choose Mark Charter.

He was awesome to work with as we were on a very tight timeline. He spent an entire Saturday with us looking at homes and again looked at several more on very short notice. He was also great about helping us do everything we needed to remotely--signing electronically, looking a listings, discussing inspection--all of it was well taken care of and easy though we were a state away. He was also great about referring us to other necessary parties for the home buying process who were also great to work with. He even paid for a cleaning of the house and movers for two hours to unload the truck on moving day. I would highly recommend using Mark to buy or sell your home. He knows the area and knows the values of the homes in the Des Moines area very well.

Mark helped us find our home over the summer of 2014. Mark is a very straight forward and honest person and we very much appreciated this attribute. Mark came and looked at the property and told me that he sells homes because he is really good at it. He told me that we needed to list $99,000 to sell my house in my neighborhood. I am quite confident that he would have sold my house for that for that price, however, my house was worth considerably more and sold recently for $16,000 more. I write this review to warn folks not assume that because he has a few good reviews on Angie's list, that does mean he is a good realtor, I interviewed 6 realtors and only two gave me a low valuation like this.

Mark was the listing agent for a property we wanted to visit, so we called him up out of the blue and requested a showing. During the showing we were very impressed with Mark's no pressure attitude, so much so that we ended up hiring Mark to both sell our former house and purchase our new home. Our former house was listed during a slow market time (January) and ended up selling in about a week for more than our asking price. Mark provided outstanding service negotiating the multiple offers we received. The unexpected quick sale meant we had to start our hunt for a new home in a hurry. Mark is a hard working professional realtor who is very reliable and responsible. We had another realtor for 5 months prior and did not have a good experience with her. When we switched to working with Mark out home was sold in a matter of months and we were able to move in to a new home before school started. Mark even had a moving truck we were able to use for free for a few days to get moved more efficiently.
