I called on this contractor to perform installation of gas line to the kitchen of my house. They did not come on the day of appointment citing they were busy with emergency call - I spent a day off work waiting for them to come. In the end of the day the called to tell they will come next day, which they did. On making appointment I agreed to pay $85/hr labor charges for plumber work. In addition to plumber they send helper and charged me his time at $60/hr. They did not tell me in advance about this additional labor and did not get my permission. The helper was incompetent at work. For example, the plumber told him to start the pilot light on gas water heater, that was extinguished during work. The helper failed to start pilot, and I found my house without hot water on the next morning. They billed total 2.5 hours. I timed the interval between the moment your employees entered the work site and the time they left it using my hand watch. The time interval was 2 hours and 3 minutes. Additionally the plumber claimed that he needed to acquire a 'nipple' for connecting the range to gas flex line from provided installation kit. He claimed he need to go personally to purchase the needed part, which took him 0.5 hours that were charged to me. On his return I called his attention to the adapter that was part of the range installation kit he had in front of him. I questioned why he would need anything else beside this adapter to perform connection. He claimed that the kit adapter 'usually does not fit'. After I demonstrated that the adapter fits perfectly into the range the plumber agreed that additional material was not needed. But they still charged me the time he spend shopping for unneeded part. On making appointment they promised that city inspector will come on the day the service was performed to issue the city permit on installation. The inspector never showed up. They charged me $75 for permit that was never issued. I believe they did not earn even half of the amount they charged. See other reviews for similar experiences and judge yourself.

If she had i would have nevr of hired them!! Owner was ride and wouldnt even tell me what was wrong and also didnt bring the tools they needed and decided they would just use stuff in my basement and that was ok... not!!! Then I was obviously ****** about the inaccuracy of the phone situation and gave him my card number. Well aparently he didnt write it down right lmao and also waiting a week to call me about it... what a joke of a company this is. Called back and the owner called me a liar and defended his person answering the phones who clearly sucks at her job!

Outstanding customer service. I scheduled the sump pump replacement for a weekday. It began to rain on Sunday and they called me to see if my basement was flooded and make sure I didn't need them to come out on that day.

Well, called Oehl to do the work, because water heater had their name on it and figured they were the plumbers used by previous owners. I needed my furnace tuned before the heating season and I knew that I had a bad pump. They replied promptly to phone message and came on site very quickly. There was additional work to be accomplished and it all made sense. Quote: $800, but no more than $1000. Said, go ahead with the work. Plumber showed up with a helper and they got to work. The work that had been estimated at 'no more than $1000' came to more than $1200 ('plus some odds and end parts, I don't have the price on yet'). Final billing came in at just under $1400. How can the 'estimate' be so wrong? Off by almost 100%? When my wife spoke to the owner about it, he said he would talk to the on-site plumber and get some answers and email me. Crickets.... Finally, sent a payment for the $800, thinking that might get their attention. Nothing. Not only that it took nearly a month for them to cash the check. They only looked for it when they called to find out why we hadn't paid anything. My wife reminded him that he had promised to get back to me and that they DID have $800. He recalled seeing that and would look into what had happened with the check. Check cashed 2 weeks later. Still hashing out the remainder of the invoice, which included charging me for an hour of time for doing the estimate!!!! At least, knock THAT off the bill. As to the quality of the work. By and large, very acceptable. The one complaint I had was the helper repaired a leaking union. The union is fine, but he splattered liquid solder all over the sink and cabinet during the process, and then didn't even clean it up. The plumber did a good job walking me through all the things I needed to now about the boiler and how he had changed things for more efficiency. There was still air in the lines, which he said would work their way out over the next 24-48 hours. He would call back to verify that everything was working. Did he call back? No. All in all, the work and knowledge was above par and what I had been looking for. Professionalism and customer service? Not so much.

Our central AC stopped working on one of the hottest summer days in Iowa at the inconvenient time of Saturday around 3 pm. I called quite a few places looking for someone who would come out on a Saturday afternoon, and Oehl called back immediately and was able to come fix our unit within 2 hours of us calling. One guy came and was professional and efficient, and he updated us on what he was looking at as he figured out the problem. Especially for having availability on a Saturday afternoon, I thought the price was very fair. I did not ask what their normal weekday price would be, so I would check that out if your service is not for an "emergency" time like mine was. We were so happy to have our AC working for the rest of the weekend and it made such a difference to us!
Description of Work: Did troubleshooting for our central AC, found the problem, and replaced a fuse on the AC unit and got it working again

Sent 3 "technicians " to do a one person job. I thought they were in training, but nope, we were paying for all three! Cut through a brand new sheet rock wall, twice, installed a slipper tub, tub wouldn't drain due to the back end sitting lower than the drain. Removed a saddle valve on a pipe, as we asked, but just replaced it with another saddle valve! Had the business owner come out, he thought the 2 4" cuts through the new wall was ok, and when we wanted the tub to drain completely he scoffed and said "it's not even cast iron, it's plastic" We negotiated a lesser payment than the $3000. People need to be aware even though the business name is the same, Oehl's Plumbing is NOT the reputable business it was under the previous owners.
