This all started on June 30 - It is now August 18 and we still have not received the second part nor did the one part he came and installed help the cooktop to work. We have filed criminal charges with HPD against Shane. DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN. He needs to be run out of town!
Description of Work: Shane demanded full payment for the parts and said he would order parts and install them in our Thermador cooktop. Shane said the parts would arrive in no longer than three weeks - but that he had seen them arrive in a week. At the end of two weeks I started calling and texting Shane but he failed to respond. Numerous efforts to make contact were ignored or met with numerous excuses. One part came in - still waiting for the other.

he's a crook - charged us 3 times the list price (at lowe's & home depot) for exact same model of insinkerator disposal and won't give me a receipt for landlord to reimburse us for the parts and services. he said his wife would mail it to us but 1 month later after leaving several messages, still no receipt. he took advantage of senior citizens living on social security!! he sounds friendly on the phone, was late for his appointments but he did show up to do the work, even gave me stickers and his business cards to contact him in the future. but we will never do business with him again, stay away from shane's appliances. he claims to fix large and small appliances. beware - shane's appliance on-line listings look like he is an approved service representative but he is not. he has skillfully marketed himself to look professional and widely approved. he has 3 phone numbers, different for each website: 808.330-1150, 808.212-9325, 808.518-3006 i joined angie's list just to report this bad experience. shame on you shane's appliance!!
Description of Work: shane's appliance replaced my insinkerater disposal for $1,135 !! for that price i could have bought a refrigerator or high end dishwasher.

My washer/dryer unit was not working. Dryer worked and washer didn't. He claimed I had two problems. One that my timer unit was bad and the outlet was bad. He replaced the timer and said was bad because the the white plug on back was coming out and it was not suppose to do that. Went on U tube and saw that that is the switch to release the knob. The real problem was that the prongs in outlet was not holding plug in well. So he charged me for a part that didn't need to be replaced. When I called him on it he would never return calls.

Terrible - check Angie's list before using any repair service in Honolulu
Description of Work: Wish I had check Angie's list prior to using this person - he came out and said he would order the parts to repair a hood on our stove, but then called back two days latter and said that he could not get the parts and had me order them and he would install them when I received them - however after I called him multiple times to have him come back and complete the installation he never returned any of my calls - I would not use this person ever again

I am a pro small business vs. big box store type of customer so I like to give most of my business to the entrepreneur who's trying to a productive member of society. I regret the day I even saw Shane's Appliance van and wrote the number down advertised on his van to do a repair on my stove. He didn't look professional and had a rotten body odor when he came to my home. He seemed to know what he was doing and asked for the money for a part he needed to do the repair up front. Big mistake, never pay up front for a part that you need. He failed to return my calls after a month an it took him three months and my threatening him to go to the Better Business Bureau for him to finally come back and repair the part for my stove. After 3 months the stove part he replaced went out again. So obviously he doesn't know what he's doing. Avoid this guy at all costs if you value good service and quality repair. He rings a bad name to the good small business men out there who are trying to feed their families. No wonder he's in business for himself because I sure as heck would never hire him.
Description of Work: Two switches for my stove had to be replaced because they went out. $200.00 Kind of expensive just for switches plus another $100.00 for labor. Ridiculous!

Do -- confirm costs to inspect more than 1 issue and Don't -- immediately accept replacement part price quotes as "gospel." Shop around for better pricing.
Description of Work: We chose Shane, because he was the ONLY repair person who agreed to a service call on short notice. At that point, we were plagued with BOTH a failing refrigerator and washing machine with failed water pump. Despite Shane's responsiveness and punctuality, what was supposed to be a visit for $47 turned into a visit for $89 (because he dealt with 2 issues not 1). He repaired our washing machine, which at least cost less than Sears for a total cost of $225 (including parts and visit charges)! He then told us we needed to replace our fridge compressor -- and was also set to install parts when we realized that for the price of repairing the fridge, we could buy a NEW one. We did, but NOT from Shane as his pricing was about 100% more than what we paid for a new fridge. Also -- we've used other appliance repair and home repair people before and ALL have cleaned up their messes before leaving -- however, Shane left his behind for US to clean up. While we appreciate the quick service -- we don't think we'll use Shane again.

Avoid Shane's appliance at all costs. Do not prepay for anything. Hired Shane to replace a leaky refrigerator ice maker line. It took 3 months of constant calling to get him to respond after taking our money. And when he did come, the installation of the new line was faulty and leaked again. He cancelled appointments many times. He does not seem to know what he is doing. He never came back to fix the leak. I will be filing a BBB report also. I had to hire someone else to repair the leak properly.

Using this service prodicer was a disaster. I have been told that he knows nothing about appliances. Multiple appliance service companies in Honolulu and Kapolei know him and his reputation for scamming consumers.
Description of Work: Shane's Appliance was referred by Ace Appliance, one of the appliance service providers listed in our condo building's owner's manual. He came to my unit, said my dryer needed a new circuit board, and required prepayment to order. He made an appointment to return in 2 days, cancelled, and thereafter never responded to any of my attempts to reach him. I found out after investigation that he had immediately gone to my bank and cashed the check, has been served with 43 complaints from dissatisfied consumers, and has been taken to court by the state of Hawaii Consumer Protection office on a number of occasions. I filed a formal complaint, online feedback, a BBB report, a police report, and contacted the local TV station Consumer Action line to publish a story on him. All my efforts resulted in the return of my money, however he has thousands of dollars of others' money that remains outstanding and has not been repaid.
