Richard required an inspection to prepare an Estimate ... which we arranged for same day (great!) then called to say he was on his way and ~by the way~ I charge $45 for an Estimate. I was surprised however prefer to hire from the local area and his company was the only one listed on Angie's List in that area. Richard didn't take credit cards so I agreed to send him a $45 check the next day ... he did the inspection however he would not give me the Quote until he received his money. I mailed the $45 when I got home (carpet is for a rental unit in another town an hour away) and then I waited. I had to call him to push for the Estimate .. which was literally more than twice the price of other Quotes for the labor portion. Carpet and padding costs were in line with industry standards (I had already selected the carpet). Richard would not consider reviewing any of his labor costs for removal, hauling, furniture moving and installation. There are 2 mirror walls and he didn't want to remove carpet adjacent to those walls ... so I agreed to have that done by others. His installation was for 30 square yards @ $1,000 or $33.33 + tax a square yard for two 12' wide rooms with no cut-outs and no seams. Hauling away carpet removed by others was not included in that installation costs. Crazy!! I only wanted ~assistance~ with moving one Queen Bed, a dresser and a wicker sofa ... his cost was $150 + tax for that assistance. Richard was personable ... moved very slowly (said he was 62) ... a little forgetful .. maybe he was ~in it~ for a quick $45 inspection fee.
Description of Work: Richard quoted the job ... however his costs were not acceptable. He no longer has an office (when I went to the address on Angie's List - the company was gone). Said he works out of his house and closed the office a long time ago. I get the feeling he may be doing carpet installation ~on the side~ as he had to call me back ~on his lunch hour~ to give me the ~verbal~ Quote over the phone.

I think the carpet quality could have been better for what I paid. The people were wonderful to deal with, professional and the installers did a great job. I would have them back again.
Description of Work: Ordered carpet, paid, set up installation, everything went smoothly.

Richard, the owner-operator, showed up on time, went right to work and did a thorough job. Nice guy who does a nice job. He also said that he does carpet repair.
