The best thing they did was respond quickly. Their mason who did the tile around the tubs was good at it. Everything else was a nightmare. The estimate wasn't itemized, with a price clearly stated for labor and materials for each item. When they didn't do something, we had to come to an agreement as to how much was a fair rebate. At the end of each day, they left drywall dust all over the place, and when they textured the walls they didn't cover anything. So I spent the next few weeks cleaning texture off screens, windows, and my personal belongings.that were clear across the room. We spent the time they were working disagreeing about what was included in their quote and what wasn't. They told my husband that the vinyl tub enclosure wasn't strong. I understand not strong. What we didn't anticipate was that a week later when a friend came to help us replace the drywall in my son's room (which they didn't consider part of the scope), the drywall in his room was wet from a leak where the vinyl enclosure was not still attached to the tub. There was a huge gap where it was supposed to be caulked which caused water to pool in the back and on my son's wall.. They had not put board or anything behind the enclosure to glue the vinyl to; it was just glued at the two ends. My friend has done construction before, and said that the vinyl enclosure wasn't installed properly. We made them come back & replace it with tile like we had already paid more to have installed in the other bathroom. The installer was so mad at us at this point, that he refused to remove the vinyl he took out. He left it in the living room for us to dispose of. A week after they finished work, they had to return to repair the shower handle that had apparently been installed wrong. Now a month later, we are having to hire another plumber because one of the toilets is constantly stopped up. We have no children in the house who put things in the toilet that don't belong there. The tile they provided and installed on the bathroom floor is so thin and cheap that it is humped up in places where they didn't clean the floor enough before they laid the tile down. I wouldn't recommend them for any work in my house. I'd strongly encourage my friends to find another company to use.
Description of Work: Replace tubs, toilets, sinks in both bathrooms. Install tile on bathroom floors. Texture and paint bathroom walls.

Our sewer line was backed up, with water in the shower and toilets overflowing when we woke up on 8/13/2013. I called about six companies to fix it right away. Only two were available and Clean Sewer Lines showed up first. The plumber had a big machine and the snake kept jamming up. He told me the sewer line was damaged, or broke about 20 feet outside my house. He also told me there was damage under my toilet in the second bathroom and that needed to be repaired. He wanted to get a camera to see how bad it was and told me that it would cost $250 for that. He drove to Wahiawa and that took over three hours before he got back with the camera. His camera had a big head on it and he could only move it a few feet down my sewer line. Also, the water was very dirty and he could not see anything. The camera was a complete waste of money and time and they still charged me $150 for that and $100 for locating the broken pipe. He told me that the sewer line was broke 20 feet from my house and that they would dig up my yard, go find the pipe, put a new section on it the next day and it would cost $4500-$5500. He also stated that we should replace our entire sewer line and that it would cost a lot more for that. After seven hours of dealing with this company, my sewer was still stopped up and my bill came to $469. We were unable to use our kitchen or bathroom and had to take a shower in the backyard using the hose. Having to worry about replacing our entire sewer system caused us a lot of stress. I decided to get a second opinion from Roto-Rooter. The plumber from Roto-Rooter came the next day and told us that nothing was wrong with the pipe. He pushed his snake 100 feet into the line and found nothing wrong. Additionally, he gave us a 30 day warranty. Roto-Rooter had equipment that was a lot better than Clean Sewer Lines and was able to clear the sewer without any problem. I asked Clean Sewer Lines to refund me $150 for use of the camera because it did not work and that their plumber provided bad information about our line being broke. He gave us a written estimate of $5000 to do a spot repair and told us that they needed to dig up our yard, cut out the bad section of sewer line and repair it. Two days later I called Clean Sewer Lines and requested they provide $150 of my $469 back for charging me on use of the camera. They refused to do that and stated that they needed to come back to my house and run another camera down my sewer to check the line. And, after they do all that, they would discuss a refund. I decided that I did not want them touching my sewer lines. My concern is that they might cause damage. Additionally, I feel they are playing games when they tell me that they will discuss giving me a small portion of my money back. They never stated they would refund $150 as I requested if nothing was wrong. My request is very reasonable considering they also charged me $100 for locating a damaged pipe and they were wrong on that assessment. Because they are playing games and wasting my time, I feel they owe me $250 for wrongful charges.
Description of Work: They tried to clean the sewer line and overcharged me for using a camera that did not work. They also reported that my sewer line was broke and charged $100 for locating the broken line. They told me it would be $4500 - $5500 to fix the line.

Work was done professionally. Service person recommended changing the valves which I felt needed replacing. The area he worked in was under the sink, a narrow space. Overall a good job. Personable serviceperson.

I had a leak under my kitchen sink. On 2/08/12, the plumber came to look at it. He shined his flash light and within 30 seconds was able to tell me that it was my drain. I do live in an older home, so it seemed logical to me that the drain would be the problem. He replaced the drain, but failed to let the water run fora while to see if the leak was still there. I paid $153..12 for that repair. In my estimation, the drain did not have to be replaced. About two days later, on 2/10/12, my cat kept trying to get under the kitchen cabinet door. I thought she had rolled her ball under there, so I opened the door to find my floor full of water! I immediately called them back to tell them that they had not fixed the original problem. They returned that afternoon, and after a more detailed inspection, told me that it was my hot water supply line and they would fix it for an additional $92.71. I was visibly upset, but decided against arguing with the workers and instead called the main office in Honolulu to complain. I spoke to the secretary who said she would pass it along to their supervisor. I never received a call back, even after three calls to the office! I chalked this one up to a hard lesson learned and vowed to never use them again. A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine also used them and was not happy with their service either. I have kept my receipts which detail the work performed.
Description of Work: On 2/08/12, Kaipo changed the basket strainer and set the P-trap. His comments were that original basket strainer was old and leaking. After new strainer replaced, no leaks. ($153.12) On 2/10/12, Kaipo, checked under the sink. P-trap assembly all good. Ran water, leak coming from 1/4 in" supply line. Replaced with new. no more leak. The original price was $105.00, but gave me a 15% discount because it was my lucky day. ($92.71)

I didn’t like anything about them. They charged way too much. They were on time. He acted really weird, and my wife was convinced that he was a drug addict. I was really dissatisfied with his service.

Let me explain that a certain unnamed property restoration company was referred by the insurance adjuster and its state headquarters is located on the island of Oahu while the house is on the Big Island. Clean Sewer Lines headquarters is in Oahu. (It's good to have connections) Apparently Clean Sewer Lines has an office in Hilo which is approximately 75 miles away. (there are plumbing contractors in the neighborhood) When I went to the site, the capping of the plumbing was not complete and the hose spigot was not installed. I contacted the restoration company rep to relay the info. They made the calls and the rest of the caps were put on within a couple of days. Still no hose bib. Within a few more days the hose bib was installed. This is where my gripe is and I blame the restoration contractor for not managing their subcontractors. This plumbing company was hired and paid for by the restoration company which passed the cost on to me. When they sent me their bill it listed the plumbing at over $1500!!??? When I questioned about the price they sent me a copy of the plumbing invoice which listed three visits at $450 each! This should have been done in one visit. (each trip is 150 mile round trip) I understand that when there is an insurance job everyone sees dollar signs but to stretch a one day, one visit job into three days and 300 extra miles???I had to pay the restoration company out of pocket and if I knew that ahead of time, I would have cut and capped the waste pipes myself. The existing hose bib was intact and functional AND I never got a report on the camera scope of the pipes. Restoration company stated they didn't pay for a report. I'm sorry but $1500 deserves a piece of paper stating that things are good or not good. In all fairness to this company I will state that I have never had any interaction with them. First thing is I would never hire anyone who has to drive 75 miles to get to the site when we have companies that are in the neighborhood. Had I hired them, they would not have left without completing the job the first day or I would have had them sign a waiver of fees for travel time on subsequent visits because they weren't prepared with materials! This shows the lack scruples and a poor business ethic to gouge a customer because of lack of preparedness or over site of the missing drain caps. They knew they would be paid so why not stretch the job out. (job security) Be aware of the business ethics of this company and have everything in writing before you hire this company.
Description of Work: Clean Sewer Lines HI-Hilo was contracted by a certain property restoration company after a house fire destroyed my home. This company was hired to scope the waste pipes to detect damage or warpage, cut and cap the waste lines (10 caps total) and install hose spigot by water meter.

They came the next day after we called, and did an excellent job of cleaning up and repairing the damage. They told us about another problem that we had to repair that no one else every mentioned to us before. They were very attentive and knowledgeable. We will use them in the future for any plumbing job problem that comes up.
Description of Work: We had a problem with shower valve. They replaced the shower valve that had been failing, and the price they gave us was lower than we expected.

Description of Work: I am General Counsel at Clean Sewer Lines. I seek to respond to Mr Kevin Doyle's complaint against my client. Mr. Doyle called on a Friday for a shower drain that was backing up and was billed for that visit. He called again on Sunday for the same problem. Instead of seeing the onwer of Clean Sewer Lines on the next day, a business day, He chose to complain on Angie's List assuming that the problem still persists because of the pumber's alleged ineptness, and grumbling that he had to pay twice for the "Same" problem. The better way to have handled this was to speak with Kelly Zeek, the owner. Mr. Zeek would have 1) refunded the money for the second visit and 2) sent a camera down into the problem area in order to determine why the stoppage was so frequent. It is unfortunate that Mr. Dyle chose to air greviances against Clean Sewer Lines in this forum rather than giving the owner/management a chance to rectify the problem. While Mr. Doyle may swear not to patronize such businesses again, that refusal to do so is actually a god-send to businesses such as my client's, for it is recognized that some customers will be dissatisfied, no matter what effort the business owner makes.

Came promptly after call and charged $292 to root drain cleanout on Friday, Feb 17th. Replaced a cleanout cover (part cost $31). Saturday, drains started slow down again. Planned to wait until Monday as problem was not serious. Sunday it got serious. They came back promptly, and re rooted the clean, out again resolving the problem (I hope). Workman said sewer line warranty was only for 24 hours. While they warrant their labor for parts they replace for 30-days, their Warranty "excludes sewer lines." Interesting that their company name is "Clean Sewer Lines." That means they do not warrant their drain cleaning work - their specific line of business. The fact that their first technician failed at the job, necessitating a second trip (and opportunity to bill twice) rates them an F and a guarantee that I will not use them again.
Description of Work: Upstairs Shower drain was backing up into downstairs tup and shower; and downstairs drains were backing up as well.
