Deriek and his crew are fantastic! Friendly, punctual, respectful, professional and just really down to earth nice people. Crew showed up on time, worked fast and furious and cleaned up when the job was done. Deriek is not only the "monkey man" but a "tree whisperer" (lol) He took the time to share some tips with me on how to maintain my trees and keep the ants at bay. They really have a vested interest in their craft and care not only about the job but the customer and it really shows. Call them ahead of time because these guys are busy. Take it from me, they are golden; rating A++.

Communication was a bit sketchy on provider side. On our third try we were able to meet in the last week in November at my property and go over the scope of the job which was to remove 9 tall manila palms and grind down the stumps. Deriek doesn't actually give you a quote but asks what your budget is. I told him $500 and he accepted and said he could do it on Dec.10. He also said for another $100 he could bring in dirt (and fertilizer) to even out my yard and fill holes the dogs had dug. He said he would call later that evening to confirm both jobs but did not hear from him. He showed up on Dec. 4 ready to do the job and luckily I was at home as we have outside dogs and they needed to be locked up to allow them on the property. He seemed surprised his wife had not called me to confirm the change of date but as I said communication not to good. He came with a crew of three other guys. Deriek is very good and knowledgeable but his crew is young and family related in some way. They are learning on the job. Overall the job went well except for one small incident where one of the 25' palms they were cutting down fell against the house and tore one of my screens. Luckily it did not break the window and they repaired the screen that day. I paid him that evening for the tree removal and asked about the dirt he said he would bring in. He said tomorrow but it never happened. I did not pursue the issue as I had not paid him nor was I charged the $100. As I said earlier, Deriek is good but his crew needs more training which I am sure they will be getting if Deriek continues to do work and get more jobs. I referred Deriek to my neighbor and he did some tree work for her too on the same day.

This company not only met but exceeded my expectations ! Quick response after my first call to them. They were punctual , professional, courteous and very cautious about the surrounding area of my home. Cleaned up after the job and made sure we were 100% satisfied with the job, clean-up etc. The owner, Deriek, is very personable and conscientious that the job is done exactly as you expected it to be completed. I would definitely use this company again in the future.

Making the first appointment was fast and easy. However they are very busy so you need to call and remind them for actually doing the work. To be fair they did tell me how busy they are. Once they got here to do the job they were extremely fast efficient and friendly. Did I also mention extremely through. During the consultation we missed some of the roots that needed to be trimmed. By the time they left 5 extra roots were removed. As for the cost I thought it was reasonable. It was a very big tree. I am so happy with the job I have to refer them to friends.

He came with his family crew and climbed the tree with his professional equipment and carefully did it in the way we had discussed beforehand. Some previous treetrimmers just chopped wherever they felt like quickly and the tree was in shock and didn't bear fruit for years. I believe because he cares and did it sensibly that we will have fruit next year. He is a professional and caring person.

The service was excellent. No questions that we will use again when the time comes. Monkeyman is run by a great guy, who has a friendly and respectful crew. Not only did they do an excellent job with the trimming, but the cleanup was great as well. Do yourself a favor and have the Monkeyman work for you!

Deriek was very knowledgeable, and a really personable guy. He walked through the work that needed to be done, reviewed what his approach would be, and discussed some of the other jobs he did. He promised to get back to me with his best estimate, and provided that to me today. I'm pleased with what he proposed and will be scheduling the work to be done shortly. I look forward to providing an update when he has completed the job.

The job took 2 days to complete 4 huge mango trees. First day he thoroughly went over the trimming plan making sure we understood and agreed to job plan. He explained different options with our expectations in mind. Once job was started it was amazing to watch them work in unison and with a high degree of professionalism. He treats the trees as if they were his own and you have the impression that he will look after the well being of the trees in the future. We moved into the house 2 years ago and he actually maintained these trees several years earlier (two owners before us). He remembered them and knows how good the mangoes are and recommended a "farmers cut" for the mango trees that we like to pick from. This cut will make it easier to pick and provide good sunshine to reach in the middle so all fruits can get the sunshine during fruiting season. He is very knowledgeable especially for Hawaii fruit trees. Clean up and follow up was more than I expected.

We are thrilled with Monkey Man tree care at every level. The owner and his workers were professional and kind and totally service oriented. But what impressed us the most was how much the owner, Deriek, knows about trees, especially fruit trees. After talking to other companies for quotes, we felt we were in good, knowledgeable hands with Monkeyman, and we couldn't be happier with the job they did. Highly recommended.

Update on the company. It's actually now called Monkey Men because he has his son working with him. Very congenial guy and accommodating to my schedule. While the tree isn't the typical high coconut tree, I let go for a year, maybe longer and it was definitely out of control with the nuts and branches. I was especially concerned with fruits since it was close to the sidewalk and knew I had a liability issue. They showed up and they simply proceeded to slice and dice the tree. Deriek even asked if I wanted a few of coconuts and I said yes. They left 5 there, even went so far as to ask if I wanted young or older ones. I also asked for no spikes on the tree since I've seen other trees that people used spikes to climb and stand on. That leaves a black scar especially after it rains. Overall an excellent job of not only trimming the fruits and branches but cleaning all the excess foliage off. The grounds were immaculate after they left, it's as if they weren't there. I would highly recommend them and will be using them again in the future.

It was a pretty big job where I had several trees that had to be trimmed and thinned. MonkeyMan did extra things like cleaning out the rain gutters. I like trees but I don't like maintaining them so I shouldn't have to worry for a while...

Deriek's son was great he cut and hauled away everything then on their lunch time Deriek came over and ground the stump of the fox tail palm that was leaning against my home. I highly recommend 'The Monkey Men" and will use them for my future tree trimming needs

Very professional and friendly. Did a great job trimming my much overgrown tree (we have just moved in this house) and cleaning up after themselves. Would definitely call him again!

They did a very professional job and all of the trees he trimmed look great. Deriek knows his profession and did a good, thorough job and took away all of the trimmings. He also had a lot of advice about caring for the trees he worked on as well as other trees in the yard. We plan to have him come back and work on the mango tree next.

I got lucky! They showed up at my door and showed me what they had just done to my neighbors tree. I have about a 60 foot mexican fan plam tree and he climbed it and it has never looked better. He worked on it for about 4 hours then cleaned up all the rubbish and hauled it away. I couldn't be happier! Very freindly guy.

This company did an excellent job on my tree service. They were very professional in their tree removal and tree trimming. They showed up every day as scheduled until the job was done. Derek is a very professional person and knows his trees well. He provided us with excellent advice on which trees to remove, how to care for the ones we kept, and how to trim them for the best decorative picture for our landscape. He even advised us on what to use for replacement trees for the ones we removed from the property. His staff cleaned the property daily after each cutting. Leaving the property with minimum evidence that I was doing extensive tree work. Derek and his staff worked very hard for two weeks straight to do my landscaping. They were very polite and respectful of myself and my tenants on the property. I found Derek very easy to work with, willing to do the extra service, highly professional and full of advice and educational. I found his staff to always be working hard, willing to answer my questions, and responsive to my requests. I can't recommend this company enough. I was very satisfied with the job done, the cost of the job, and the cleanliness of the job site while work was being done on the property. I had a number of structures under trees and they were able to remove or prune large trees with out damaging these structures.
