When Steve left yesterday my wife looked at me and said "not that was a pleasant experience". She said that because we used other handymen on Maui and were disappointed. Some interesting facts are: Most contractors and handymen here want money up front before they start the work. Steve did not. He bought the material for the job and did it. That is impressive to us. He did not get paid until he was finished. He even walked us around the job to show us what he did. A added bonus - he took before and after pictures too! I can not say enough about our experience with Steve and would recommend him to anyone.

Repair person was quite pleasant. If I didn't have something he needed he found something he had to continue job. Took longer than expected but was not charged overtime. Did a very nice job and did check other projects I wanted done to give me information on ability to be done in future. I would use this service again and am very pleased with results.

Steve was very prompt and friendly and professional. He did more than he said he would do in certain areas. I only asked for a perfunctory paint job for both in and out and he went far and above that work. He also came up with the idea of using step guards which will save a lo We had a small mis-communication about cleaning (he thought in broad strokes and I thought in detailed strokes) so the cleaning that was on the list was more of a construction site clean up rather than a housecleaning clean up where windows and grout are cleaned as well as toilet interiors and bathtubs. But I could see how he felt it was clean according to a construction point of view and I had not been as explicit as I could have been. The only other point of confusion was the hauling away of trash. Once again, I wasn't explicit so

GREAT! I do not usually take the time to write reviews but this time I will make an exception! When we called Steve our cottage as a total disaster! The tenants had dogs that chewed up the walls and it was filthy! We asked Steve to check it out and give us a estimate on cleaning, repairing and painting the interior and exterior of the cottage. When we opened Steve's email we were surprised to learn that he could match the exterior paint and patch the bad areas and clean the inside, repair and paint it for much less than we expected. My wife and I were skeptical at first, but when we saw the results all we could say was wow! The place looked fantastic! I cannot say enough about Steve's professionalism, humor, knowledge and the way he looked at our property as if it were his own. I would highly recommend Steve (Maui Handyman Service) to anyone and have him looking at my mother-in-laws house next week. I might add that I did not think to look on Angie's List - I actually found Steve via the internet - but he mentions you on his business cards - Thanks Steve for a job well done... Easy to communicate with even though the problem was unclear. Very thorough; warned me of another issue that might become a problem even though it did not create more business for him. Nice sense of humor also.

We've had a roof leak for quite a while. We had several roof companies try o fix it but the roof is a bit askew in its design. So it would leak again next rain after they fixed it. My wife's friend recommended Stev from Maui's Handyman Service. Seems he repaired hers. So we call him and he came out. Should probably mention that the day he came - it was raining! He wanted to see for himself where the leak was. In the rain, he climbed on the roof and diagnosed the problem. Said he'd come back when the rain stopped to fix it. When he came back, he worked on the roof and replaced the wet sheet rock and replaced the dry rotted wood. When he left, I told my wife that "he was a nice guy - but, with our luck he didn't fix it either - WE WERE WRONG! I am happy to report that we've had several rains since and we're bone dry! Thanks, thanks thanks! We wanted to write the report to let others know that this guy was great, fair and a hard worker. If you have a roof leak - call Steve. We put him on our speed dial!

Job went well from start to finish. No big problems and everything pretty smooth.

We live in the United Kingdom. We own a property in Kihei Hawaii that we use as a vacation rental. When we visited the rental last year, we heard about Angies List on the radio and decided to call you this year to find a handyman to help us fix up the unit. Your website showed a few handymen but we chose Maui Handyman Service because you rated them high and their reviews were good. Glad we did. We hired Steve via email. It was a pleasant experience. At first we were nervous, being so far away and having a project going on in Hawaii. But Steve bought everything (we did not send money first which made us more comfortable) and sent us a email each week with pictures of the progress and receipts. When the job was done, he sent a video of the completed project and we paid him using our Visa. It could not have been easier or more pleasant. I would refer Steve and his company to anyone who needs a good job, an honest worker and someone they can trust. Thank you for suggesting them.

Our rental house became vacant and we needed to get it cleaned up to rent. It as a mess. For the past 5 years the tenants accumulated all kinds of trash including appliances and auto parts amongst other things. The house was trashed on the inside and out. We called Steve at Maui's Handyman Service and he came out the same day. He gave us a written quote and we hired him to remove the trash, clean up the inside of the house and pressure wash the exterior. It looked incredible! I know he made at least three trips to the dump! I usually don't write reviews (because I rarely get anyone who will work for us that actually deserves one) but Steve deserves this one. I would refer Steve to anyone. He worked hard. Was on time. Was affordable and did what he said and more. Thanks Steve!

It went great. I own a property on the island of Maui and it is currently being rented. The tennant fell through some dryrot on the deck so I needed to get it repaired as soon as possible. I found Maui's Handyman Service through Google and called them. The owner, Steve, was very professional - I explained over the phone what happened and what needed to be done and he took charge! He called the tennant, scheduled a estimate, took pictures and sent them too me with the estimate. He purchased the materials, did the work and my tennants tell me he was very good and even cleaned up after himself. He sent me pictures with the final bill. The best part is I did not have to fly to Maui to watch over the work. I could even pay with my visa! Very simple and fast. Steve is in my rolodex for sure. I would recommend Maui's Handyman Service to anyone.

not good, first of all i paid 1400 to paint the place, after i got here i started looking at the paint job and noticed that the prep for the paint wasn't done well in the hallways and when you looked at the job from the side, you could see the diffence in texture, what was worse was what was pointed out by another handy man, the area above the stove was not painted, you could still see the grease on the wall, steve took care of the holes that the plumber left except for a hole above the stove, i asked steve to take care of a light in the hallway but it was never done. the worst part was when i arrived to find that the new toilets were not in working order, steve got the toulets running the next day but he had three months to do this work, what made this situation worse was that one of the toilets had a lid that could not be put on top the tank, the reason for that was that there was a supprt piece of work under the extended counter and the top cound't be put on top the tank, steve made an attempt to cut the woog out but never finished, steve was suppose to come back the final week to finish this project which started three months ago but when he told me he had to finish some other project, i had had enough, all told, the amount of work that was given to him was not more than 10 gays work and yet after three months, he still wasn't finished, can't remember one time when he would spend the whole day working on my place, there was always another job he had to get to, what got to me is that steve couldn't and wouldn't stay and finish my project, had i known that he was going to put in half days on this job on the days i came from the mainland to see the progress of my condo, i would never have hire him, in reality, steve had a few choices when it came to the toilet that the top wouldn't fit, he could have take the toilet back and got a shorter one, or had he not waited to thelast few days before i was to come to stay permanately in maui, he would have had plenty of time to correct the problem, steve could have painted the kitchen wall where the stove is located and he could have filled the hole over the stove, these were items he got paid for and didn't do the work, steves a likeable guy but i would never use him again, , steve might have been at the top of angieslist but i would guess that most of the people who wrote those reviews had steve just do one une item, he may ne good at that but when given multiple items to work on, i would never use him. maui is without a doubt the worse island to deal with repair people, i had talked to 8 people before hiring steve, each one i talked to was a scam artist, this is as pathetic as you will find when dealing with repair people, i finally found some people who are honest and are fixing those items which steve never completed and i will be selling my condo and i can honestly say i will never step foot on this island again, i'm sure there are some decent people here, i just haven't met them, all i can tell some one thinking of investing in maui is you better be able to do your own repairs or bring a repairman from the mainland, you will save money and you won't have to deal with most of yhose who look to do nothing more than rip you off Update 12/17/12: this really shouldn't come as any surprise when you consider the rest of steves work, the new owners of the condo i just sold were some what upset at the fact that the junction box was left exposed, the new owners pulled the bottom drawer on the new stove and could not close the drawer after that, when i was sent a picture from the new owners it was very clear that steve was aware of this but then again by that time steve would have his money and i would have to still fix what he failed to do, this isn't an isolated case, before i paid steve the second time i asked him why the dining room light wasn't working, he stated that it needed a bulb, pretty smooth, especially when steve knew i had to ladder to verify what he said, a few days later a friend came over with a ladder and guess what, there was a bulb in the socket and i replaced the bulb, still wouldn't work, my friend checked the circuit and found the switch was bad, it had nothing to do with the bulb, like i have said in my earlier review, this guy can't be trusted, he seems to have an excuse for everything when things don't go as planned, pay the extra money on this island and find some one who will stand behind there work,

It went great! I called Steve and he came by. My wife and I were surprised that he was actually on time. The handymen we used in the past were either late or never showed. This time we thought we would try your service. We are glad we did. I am a military veteran and received a cost break which was nice. Steve bought all the materials he needed and went to work. He replaced all the dry rot and even patched the screw holes! He painted the deck and it looks wonderful. We would highly recommend Steve and his company to anyone who is looking for a professional, affordable handyman. We are hoping to hire him for some additional work in a few months.

Steve, the owner of the company and the only employee is always reliable, on time, reasonably priced and works very efficiently.

We were selling our home and a home inspector hired by the seller gave us a 15 page report on our home. Most of it was small but the bigger thing we needed to have done by someone who knew what they were doing. We called Angie's list and they gave us Maui's Handyman Service and Steve came out. He reviewed the and got to work the next day. We were rushed because the sale was predicated on our getting these repairs made. Steve was professional and fast. When he was finished the inspector came out to check the work and it passed with flying colors! We are happy to say we sold the house and we want to thank Steve for his fast and professional work. We would recommend him to anyone.

I called Angie's List looking for a Handyman and they referred me to Maui Handyman Service owned by Steve. We had had some bad experiences with handyman on the island, they are always late, do shotty work and we we're leary that this company might be the same. But much to our suprise, Steve as on time, professional and did great work! We would highly recommend Steve. He gave us a senior discount and did not take any money up front. He paid for materials and gave us a bill when we approved his work. We look forward to Steve doing our deck this fall

We are very pleased. We have had bad experiences with handymen on this island. They never how up on time, want money up front (which is ok but why should we pay for labor before it is done?) and the work was sub par. But Steve was different. He was prompt, did a thorough check of the deck for safety, and was able to start the next day. He was on time and fun to work with. He had our deck finished in a day and even had us inspect it with him so he could show us exactly what he did. The best part - Steve paid for the material and gave us the receipts when he was finished. We were happy to write him a check for everything then. I called Steve at Maui's Handyman Service and asked if he could come by and give me a bid on a paint job for my garage. When he came out he was friendly and my wife and I liked him right off. He measured and inspected the garage and we spoke a bit about how he would go about it. He was very detailed - pointed out some dry rot that should be taken care of before he painted and we agreed. He asked if I was military - I told him I was - and he gave us a %15 discount that my wife and I thought was very kind. What surprised us most was the fact that he did not want any money up front! Most handymen we've hired in the past wanted half down. He said he would buy the things he needed and give us the receipts when he was done. When he was finished - we we're very happy. He did the job for the price he quoted and he gave us the original receipts for the supplies he bought. Money is very tight for us and to have a job done right and have the worker be respectful and professional is mighty nice to see. We recommend Steve to our friends now and I am happy to write this. I hope Steve Gets more work from it.

My house was up for sale and the buyer hired a home inspector to check it out. The inspector found several items that he suggested to the buyer needed to be repaired. The roof, the deck (dry rot) some plumbing in the bathroom and some other items. The sale was hinging on these items being repaired. My wife and I were anxious. We called a friend of our and she recommended Mauis Handyman Service as she used them before. (She found them here on Angies List) - So we called. The owner, Steve, came out. He was very friendly and patient as we reviewed the inspector's list. We went over how he could repair them and we hired him. To our surprise he rebooked other work and came out in two days. He started the work and completed it in about 10 days. The inspector returned to review the work that had been done and reported to the buyers that the work superseded his requirements. We were elated! The house sold and we couldn't be happier with Steve's work.

Wonderfully! We are so happy. We had several roofers and handymen come out to look at our roof. The first guy showed up (must've been seventy years old!) with a hairless dog that he said was his "legal heart monitor). When we asked if he was going to go up on the roof he said, "My dog doesn't go up on roofs - so I don't go". How was he going to determine what needed to be done? We had guys that showed up two to three hours late and some eben smelled like they stopped off for a beer first! The we say your commercial and contacted you. We found Steve "Mauis Handyman" and what a breath of fresh air! I do not usually take the time to write reviews but sometimes one needs to be written. Steve was on time, clean and carried a note pad! He wrote everything down, got up on the roof - took pictures of the roof and explained in detail what should be done and let us determine what we did. The job went smoothly and we laughed alot :). The house looks great and no more leaks! Steve recommeneded a seamless gutter company to do our gutters and they look great too! I HIGHLY recommend Steve and will be using hime this summer to enclose our garage.

Steve was very professional. I called him (a referral from another realtor) and we met at my client's home. I explained what needed to be done and left him to it.
