Description of Work: RICHARD SCREWED THIS JOB UP. HE KNOWS IT. HE ADMITS TO IT. HE HAD A HIGHLY RESPECTED PROFESSIONAL FRIEND COME AND EVEN HE CONFIRMED IT. AND STILL - RICHARD REFUSES TO MAN-UP AND FIX HIS SCREW UP. I had been Richard's friend for a many, many years. I wrote the first Angies List review. I wrote letters to bolster his reputation around Oahu. I referred many jobs to him. A few months ago, I hired him to repaint my 13 year old daughters room. Per his directive, I purchased $200 worth of quality Benjamin Moore paint from Rainbow Paint in Kaneohe. The painting of the room went ok, minus a couple of little details. However, then I noticed the smell wouldn't go away. TURNS OUT, RICHARD DECIDED TO CUT A CORNER BY USING AN OLD EXTERIOR OIL BASED PRIMER IN MY 13 YEAR OLDS CEILING AND CLOSETS!!! WHY???? I HAVE NO IDEA WHY HE DECIDED TO DO THIS. EVERYONE I HAVE SPOKEN TO SAYS THAT WAS INCREDIBLY STUPID AND WRONG. RICHARD APPLIED LAYERS OF THAT VERY OLD AND VERY TOXIC PRIMER TO HER CEILING AND CLOSET, THEN A LAYER OF EXTERIOR WATER BASED PRIMER, AND THEN SOME PAINT THAT WAS NOT WHAT I EVEN BOUGHT!!!!!! I IMMEDIATELY CALLED RICHARD TO COME AND FIX IT. Well, guess what? I consulted Hardware Hawaii, Rainbow, and Home Depot...and THERE IS NO FIXING THIS SCREW UP!! Its drywall - and you can't scrape drywall and you can't encapsulate the toxicity by covering it with more layers of paint. ALL THE DRYWALL HAS TO COME OUT!! THATS RIGHT, RICHARD!! HE NEEDS TO COME AND GUT MY DAUGHTERS ROOM AND REDO THE ENTIRE ROOM!!! Once he realized the extent of this screw up -- Richard went into hiding. He stopped answering his phone. He flat out left me to fix his major screw up. Well, I don't have thousand and thousands of dollars to fix this!! So - we have had to take out her clothing from her closet and close the doors!!! But, yes, you can still smell both the ceiling and the closets! I just hoped the smell would fade. What else am I supposed to do????? MONTHS LATER -- and now the smell is EVEN WORSE!! !ITS TURNED TO THIS SHARP, POISON LIKE SMELL!!!!!!! I tried to call Richard -- maybe he would man up now? -- and he hung up on me!! RICHARD --- HOW TERRIBLE YOU ARE FOR NOT MANNING UP TO THIS PROBLEM YOU -- ONLY YOU -- CREATED!!!! ITS A THIRTEEN YEAR OLD GIRLS ROOM, RICHARD!!!! HOW COULD YOU NOT STOP AND SAY 'SHOOT, I SCREWED THIS UP - AND I NEED TO MAKE IT RIGHT!!!!!' YOUR DECISION HAS LEFT A GIRL VULNERABLE TO CANCER-CAUSING TOXINS -- AND YOU KNOOOOOOOW IT!!! SO - ANYONE READING THIS - NOW YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN RICHARD SCREWS UP. HE RUNS AWAY -- STOPS ANSWERING HIS PHONE -- AND YOU ARE LEFT TOTALLY SCREWED. HE IS NOT LICENSED, DOES NOT HAVE A PERMANENT ADDRESS, HIS FAMILY DOES NOT KNOW WHERE HE LIVES, THE COMPANIES HE BUYS PAINT FROM WILL NOT TELL YOU -- SO YOUR ONLY RECOURSE IS TO TAKE TO THE INTERNET TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE POTENTIALLY DEALING WITH. I CAN SUE THE PANTS OF THIS MAN -- OR I CAN GO TO THE BUILDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION (BIA), THE MEDIA, AND OTHERS. HIS POOR WORK HAS PUT MY KID IN HARMS WAY!!!!! ALL HE HAD TO DO IS COME FIX IT!!!

Description of Work: I haven’t used Richard in a while. I’ve used him 3 years ago.

Description of Work: I hired Richard to paint the interior of my condo and some other minor renovation items. He came for an estimate and his verbal bid was competitive, however, after he thought about it for a day r two, it went up by 30%. I was still the best bid I had, so I went with him. Initially things went very well. He started promptly. The quality of his work was good. He and his son and his crewmembers were kind courteous and enjoyable. However, after I had to go mainland, everything fell apart. He finished the painting but never did the rest of the work. He started to work on someone else's project. I asked him to go back to my project and he said he would, but then never did, causing me further delay.

Description of Work: Richard was easy to talk to. When he came by, he explained what he was going to do and that is what he did. I have an old house which need little patches here and there which they did well. Their attention to detail was great. The sanded the house down to a level where the could get good adhesion for the primer coat and then put on 2 coats of premium paint.

Description of Work: Spoke at length about interior painting project, expressed an interest in doing the work and set an appointment to look see it, but neither showed up for appointment nor called to reschedule.

Description of Work: He came to my house to do an estimate for an estimate for an exterior paint job.

Description of Work: Repaint the exterior of our house....Preparation and repairs to the existing building. I have not put the price down as I can't remember it with this late review....It was very fair though and good value.

Description of Work: Got the roof fixed, dry rot removed, interior and exterior painted, white heat barrier applied to roof, several doors created for interior closet and exterior shed. Domestic tranquility assured.

Description of Work: Richard came over to the house to give me an estimate. I spoke with Richard for a while to discuss my options, and he seemed very professional. I gave Richard a few weeks to come up with a proposal, but Richard never got back to me. I called Richard about 3-4 weeks after he came over to the house and he apologized for not getting back to me because he said he was out of town. I gave Richard another 2-3 weeks to get a proposal or to just to hear from him; NO contact from Richard since. Very unprofessional to leave a potential customer hanging. I would NOT RECOMMEND RICHARD for any painting jobs; VERY UNRELIABLE. DO NOT USE !!!

Description of Work: Richard repaired significant dry wall cracks and other issues and painted a very large living room, dining room and stairwell area. Richard's attendion to detail and knowledge of interior work was excellent. Our living room, dinning room and stairwell look like new. Richard powerwashed and painted the entire exterior of our three story 26,000 square foot home which included a large storage room underneath the house, wooden deck, trim, garage door, eaves and railings. Richard used a combination of elastomeric base coat with a exterior latex top coat. Superior attention to detail-excellent job and service. I would recommend Richard to anyone. He work ethic is superior to most contractors on the island. He runs a family owned business and is on the job site 100 percent of the time working with his crew. Richard takes pride in his work and will NOT cut corners. He is up front on the price does not exceed with surprises. I would say Richard is a little higher than most of the estimates we recieved but his quality and service are superior. His decades of experience in painting homes here on Oahu ( interior and exterior) certainly pay a big dividend to the customer. Richard understands the weather patterns of the island and different types of home construction. Richard customizes each home to ensure a lasting and excellent finish that will last for years. He guarantees his work and satisfaction. Bottomline, Richard Arniquez is the best on Oahu.

Description of Work: Approximately ten years ago, I hired Richard to paint the interior of my small home. I am most pleased to report here that the paint job he conducted in my home lasted those solid ten years. Except for the sheen of the semi-gloss, the home held the beautiful paint for entire ten years. Ten years later, I was ready to re-paint both the exterior and interior of my home. I contacted Richard. Richard provided me a plan, a timeframe, and a price. I can assure you that in this particular case, investing in a good painter like Richard is worth the cost. Richard and his crew showed up every day, consistently. They all were extraordinarily polite and hardworking. The exterior of the home had far greater termite damage than we had realized, buried under layers of paint. Richard and his crew prepped the house with diligence and attention to every hole they came across. My husband and I were very impressed by how much time and effort they poured into the prep of our home. Within days, the exterior of the home was completed. It was beautiful and professional work. The best part is I am totally confident that it will last for years. Then, Richard and his crew moved inside to 'refresh' the interior paint job. Again, they encountered termite damage and quickly patched the pukas. I didnt want, nor really need, a detailed paint job, since Richard had done such a fantastic job ten years prior. Instead, I asked for them to just make the place look beautiful again. Thats exactly what Richard and his crew did. Within two days, the interior of my home looked as wonderful as it did ten years ago. Once again, I was very pleased. I trusted Richard to do a professional and thorough job and, true to form, he did not let me down. In this day, when we are watching every dollar we spend, finding a person who will deliver the service you know you need is priceless. I highly recommend Richard Arquinez to paint your home.

Description of Work: Our home required extensive work and we had noticed that this company was working on a home next to us. We were shocked at the finished product. From day one we knew that once Richard and his men were done on our home it would be beautiful. His prep work which I hear is most important was immaculate. He never skipped a beat and takes great pride in his work. We got what we paid for and more. If you are looking for an excellent paint job,inside or out Richard's Painting would be the way to go. The exterior of our home was unbelievable. It looked brand new!!!!
