John's a knowledgeable guy who can talk in depth about the how and why of something working or not working, what the options are, and was a good sport about me iterating through several variations of a plan until I was comfortable we found the one I liked best. He responded promptly to my emails and phone calls. When it turned out I could get the high tech pool pump we wanted for $600 less from Amazon than his normal retail price, he was fine with me ordering it from them and him installing it. My being able to participate productively in the planning and design portion of the project (vs a lot of and quot;I'll take care of itand quot; hand waving) was very important to me and some earlier people I talked with just weren't able to work that way, either because they didn't understand the subject matter in depth enough, or just didn't want to spend the time.
On the day of the job, the work we expected all went fine. But, it turned out that integrating the new control equipment with some of the older equipment was more complicated than expected and ultimately not in John's area of focus. He found a specialist to take care of it over the next couple days.
While the main focus was saving money on running and heating my pool (which came out great), he also correctly identified why my house hot water was cooling overnight and make a huge improvement there. I am now not using electricity at all to heat my water.
Overall I felt very comfortable with him, am very pleased with the outcome so far, and am happy to have a highly competent person who I trust in my phone book.

They came the day that we called them for the standard maintenance. When arrived found that there were other problems with out system that he was unable to fix that day. He came back the next day and completed the job.
