Gene is a very nice and friendly person but he really let us down with the landscape. He failed to include my comments on the plan that was submitted to the association causing unnecessary delays and rework of rock walls. The rock walls were not in his scope but were on the plan. We rarely knew when he would show up. He had his own agenda and schedule. Some work was done out of sequence causing delays and frustration. He seeded the lawn before all the plants and lava rock were in place. In the end it didn't matter as the seed didn't sprout. We paid extra for the material to sod a portion of the lawn. The rest of the lawn was reseeded and that didn't sprout so he brought in lawn clippings to fill in the bare spots. That helped some of the bare lawn areas but not all. Some of the plants provided died because he doesn't plant them in a proper hole with soil amendments. They were replaced. Some plants are still in shock and have not started to grow after three months. He planted three trees without stake for support. The plant quality was poor. Some of the plants didn't even have a root ball to contain the soil in their own pot. Our slope was to be weeded and sprayed with weed killer and then planted. The plants went in before all the weeds were removed. A sloppy job of weeding after the plants were in only resulted in killing some of the plants. Those plants were not replaced. Gene mixed plants that require water with plants that don't require much water. The irrigation system hits my house. Also Gene's irrigation system combined planter area with lawn area. We do have some dry spots. Generally speaking the irrigation system is lousy.
