California Closets

A recent move to the Big Island into a new home had me scrambling to get several items upgraded before my personal belongings arrived here. Wanted to get my closets refit to make them more useful - including a huge walk-in closet. Called this branch of California Closets, and the owner came out to see me. I knew this was a mistake when he started to extol the virtues of particle board instead of wood. In the humid tropical climate? And his quote was astronomical! $800 bucks worth of particle board shelves and drawers he quoted at almost $7000! Sure it's Hawaii, but that doesn't mean I've suddenly gotten stupid! I instead ordered $1500 of John Louis-made WOOD closet fixtures, and a local carpenter installed the whole thing for less than $1000. Like my previous more-remote location, there are always a few who think they can take advantage of the location and that people have suddenly gotten stupid. Anyone operating this way deserves a pass.
