We converted an old bathtub shower with hard-to-clean tile wainscoting/grout and sliding glass shower door at my sister-in-law's house to a very pleasant low-step one-piece shower pan with no-grout wall surround and a shower curtain. The installer removed the old tub and shower door. Although the wall surround can be installed directly over the tile, the installer also removed the old tile, too. He installed a new pressure-balancing plumbing valve (i.e. the old shower controls had separate hot & cold valves that no longer meet code) and new shower head & controls. We originally intended to get a new glass shower door installed from a vendor that Re-Bath recommended, but we got used to the ease of just having a shower curtain that we can simply change out. We moved in with my sister-in-law while we construct a new residence, and we've been using this shower for approximately a year now. Whereas the old tub had trouble draining, the new shower does not have this problem, and it's very easy to clean and keep clean. Unfortunately, we noticed that Re-Bath at Nimitz Road closed its showroom and appears to have gone out of business. Too bad. While it wasn't the least expensive option, we believe it was worth every penny.
Description of Work: Bathtub to shower conversion, including wall surround of solid surface polymer with corner shelf and delta plumbing valve & trim.

+ 0 moreWe stopped in to ask about getting an estimate after having left a voice message with no reply several days before. The man looked like he should be a college professor and didn't seem interested at all in the details of our tub other than that it was a non-standard size (Japanese size, I believe). He threw out a huge number (I don't recall, but it was well over $1,000) but didn't even ask if he could come for an estimate. We pretty much assumed that he only wanted easy work, or that he didn't have our size. He could have told us the situation, but instead made us feel like we were wasting his time. We left because the visit was so discouraging.
